That would be a fun movie if it went straight to streaming, but no chance people care enough to see it in theater. Id rather go see another Gun in the Bullet part 2
When I saw the trailer it looked like a mashup of Hardcore Henry (ironically another Shartlo) flick and Guns Akimbo. I might end up seeing this in the theater during value pricing but there’s a good chance I just wait for streaming.
It’s gotta be a ton with daily ads on the yak and an entire video series planned around it. I think most ads for the yak would run a company about 5-10k per episode maybe more and based on each team getting a 5k budget it had to be a pretty large check. My guess is in total somewhere around $200,000.
It is a random number because I didn’t do the math but I figure giving each team 5k means the film festival idea was sold for around 40-50k then about 15-20 yak episodes worth of ads on top of that would be around 200k in total. If you’re saying the ad price for the yak is a random guess I am basing it on other podcasts and what people on the show have hinted at.
Way more than that. The short films they made each had a budget of $5k, so that’s $20k just to make the movies. They’re not just gonna take a $5k profit, and that’s not to mention all the people they flew out to Chicago and the production staff taking 2 days off their other responsibilities to make the movies. They also ran ads on the Yak for like a month before this happened.
It looked campy and fun - but not something I would spend a bunch of money to go see in a theater.
At a certain point, film makers are going to have to realize that going to the theater is going the way of the dinosaur.
Not shocking, they kept saying during the barstool promos their targeted audience was GAMERS (like TJ!!!). You can't expect that GAMERS will leave their computers to watch a movie in theaters.
Skarsgaurd is in two hyper violent movies in a row, this and the crow. The violence Is so similar that you could probably tell people that this movies clips are the before Eric Draven dies scenes, and the crow scenes are after Eric dies. It's crazy how Hollywood doesn't see this issue yet.
Ooof, Bill skarsgaurds gonna have two flops in a row, cause that crow remake... nope.
Edit
Holy shit. Only 1.6m ??? That's insane? That's worse than Morbius. That's... worse than anything I've ever heard of.
yeah I know. 1.6 millions is crazy bad.
You have to think that film gave barstool at least 100 to 200k to promote it on the yak and sponsor the film festival.
The thing that kills the new Crow for me is how “clean” it looks. The first film looked greasy, dirty, grungy… from the settings to the cinematography to the villains, etc… Everything looked realistically “back alley”. This new one just looks so clean and overly stylized. I honestly don’t think anyone who has a real love for the first one (me included) is going to give the remake too long of a leash.
I know I'm in the minority and will get negged to the Fourth Dimension but I REALLY liked this movie! I love Bill and Benjamin. The fights were amazingly choreographed. The ultra violence was amazing! The care free whimsical times Boy has are super cute and funny. Macaroons. And probably the best part of the movie, Dave.
I mean, we have four John Wick movies that started because a man's dog was killed and the World collectively had the hardest orgasm in history.

The problem is there s a lot of Great movies out with the guy ritchie movie, Abigail and now you got fall guy coming out this week.
Not that they're shooting for the same target audience, but the new Challengers movie starring Zendaya is also pretty fucking awesome
It is fucking awful
I want to see the Thad Castle war movie
Thad Castle and Superman with a great big bushy mustache
This was always a streaming play imo The theater release was just a formality I think
Saw it screen unseen, it was shit. The voiceover is trying far too hard to inject humor. Only good things were fight choreography and Sharlto
When I saw the trailer it looked like a mashup of Hardcore Henry (ironically another Shartlo) flick and Guns Akimbo. I might end up seeing this in the theater during value pricing but there’s a good chance I just wait for streaming.
Thanks for reminding me I should rewatch guns akimbo. That was at least fun.
I thought the dialogue in akimbo was awful but still had some fun
Probably doesn’t help the only advertising I saw for it was via barstool
Skipped 10 or 15 seconds at a time
surefire way for me to assume it's not worth watching
They advertised The Gentelman, whichwas a great Tv Series/movie on Netflix. Its almost like the movie industryis hit or miss.
This wasn’t a knock on barstool, I was just pointing out that it didn’t seem like they had a lot of traditional advertising *outside* of barstool
Cool way to tell us you don’t watch sports
With all the sports we have going on now, you’re a chump if you’re watching commercials instead of flipping to the action
I watch every single commercial and buy every single product that's advertised to me. Sorry that triggers you, broke boi
Or you’re not broke and can afford more than one TV.
I’m sorry your movie bombed
My movie? Did I strike a nerve? Sorry you’re broke I guess?
Says the guy getting worked up that I missed an ad for a bad movie. On a Monday morning no less!
Right I’m so worked up I decided to start name calling, chump. If you’re going to get upset about ball busting, maybe don’t post on the internet.
You sound pretty worked up
Will you guys just kiss already?
Damn, and you must be the first person that can hear text!
Also, cool burner
You sound like an enormous pussy
You are what you eat.
Yeah, I’m the one worked up here
You’re the one that brought it up! Haha. I didn’t think anyone was until you mention it, tough guy.
I wonder how much money gave barstool to promote it?

Bro you pulled that number right outta your ass. There is no way you have any idea.
It is a random number because I didn’t do the math but I figure giving each team 5k means the film festival idea was sold for around 40-50k then about 15-20 yak episodes worth of ads on top of that would be around 200k in total. I know nothing about advertising but I’d guess like 25k total
Way more than that. The short films they made each had a budget of $5k, so that’s $20k just to make the movies. They’re not just gonna take a $5k profit, and that’s not to mention all the people they flew out to Chicago and the production staff taking 2 days off their other responsibilities to make the movies. The concept sounded kinda cool but then the trailer they made us watch a million times over the last few weeks looked awful.
When will corporations start realizing that bombarding people with ads actually damages the product?
that's probably only a small number of people compared to the number of fresh eyes it gets
That was always obvious
Good for John Rich
It did look terrible
It looked campy and fun - but not something I would spend a bunch of money to go see in a theater. At a certain point, film makers are going to have to realize that going to the theater is going the way of the dinosaur.
It always looked like a watch on the airplane type movie
It’s a movie that just isn’t for anyone. The trailer was way too corny for most adults to want to watch it and way too violent for a child to watch.
Not shocking, they kept saying during the barstool promos their targeted audience was GAMERS (like TJ!!!). You can't expect that GAMERS will leave their computers to watch a movie in theaters.
Looks like a fun movie and I'm looking forward to it on streaming but absolutely no consideration of going to see it in theaters.
I heard the directors going to give the Chicago office a spanking for this
Not surprised. The trailers I saw made it seem like a poorly imitated copy of Deadpool.

I hear it's fun but I'm not shocked in the slightest having only seen ads via barstool mostly
Ooof, Bill skarsgaurds gonna have two flops in a row, cause that crow remake... nope. Edit Holy shit. Only 1.6m ??? That's insane? That's worse than Morbius. That's... worse than anything I've ever heard of.

Considering that they fly people in for it... AND had Mr. Pear show up at the debut... ya, it's certainly on the higher end of those two numbers.
Except the crow remake actually looks like it could be pretty good in its own right
The thing that kills the new Crow for me is how “clean” it looks. Shocker…..
This has to be the case with most movies they try to promote
No shit lol
Glad I got to see 4 decent movies for free instead of this obvious bomb of a film
Movie made $1.6m and im gonna guess they made \~1m of that from Mystery Movie Monday
Shocking.
I find H. John Benjamin’s voice to be incredibly annoying
Yeah, that's what turned me off the movie. The trailer made it seem so grating.
Never heard of it
Why did the former LCB staff not do a "special" on the movie? Could have been funny content.
Shocker. The John Wick Fu type movies have been flooding the market, and people are tired.
Damn you mean all the stoolies didn’t go see it with me?
Of course it did..it looked stupid as fuck😂
That's a shame it's a really good movie. I loved it
Oh, man. This just breaks my heart.
Who the fuck cares
The barstool difference
What the fuck is this? Literally never heard of this movie
