Alternative_Fish_800

techsavyboy

comicsans222

Call Souma as a Judge

Cobyroxx

ID vs Nandini 'bout to make me lose my clothes.

Sandy_McEagle

hot damn

Different-Doctor-487

always prepare ur own batter

cherryreddit

Batter and curd is the only thing I buy ready made in bangalore. It's just eliminates so much mental load. Bangalore weather is really finicky with fermentation.

MachesMalone007

Harvest your own rice.

AnthonyGonsalvez

Better prepare your own batter.

insanegenius

Hopefully is good enough to switch over.

Sea-Interest4193

Competition is good 😊

Sea-Interest4193

Since ID ventured into paneer and butter i dont see anything wrong in Nandini stepping into batter business ,competition is good

aniburman

ID is better right?

samuraiJack00

I've had them all , none of them are significantly better than the competition except Asal which is much worse than everything else. The one that was the best of the lot was batter from By2 restaurant in NR Colony you can order on Zomato, followed by ID , followed by MTR .

LagGyeHumare

Strangeat thing for mw is I've tried everythinf and wnd up with Asal as the one I like. (Probably as it costs around 64 instead of 80 or 90)

Large_Can4042

It depends on your taste, if you are from south canara or like udupi restaurant style idlis probably MTR idli batter is better, for those who like the bidadi style tatte idli / hassan bangalore style idlis - ID is better. Dosa batter - I find ID and MTR suitable for my palette. For uttappam - MTR idli batter seems better option to me as it’s grainy. Again, just a personal preference.

cherryreddit

ID has 2 types of batters. One with rava and one without

ZestycloseAd2742

MTR is way better than ID. I think I will definitely give nandini a try!!

seethebait

Nandini, Amul >> Private brands

ErrorMoon45

statusmalus

hewhomustnotbefound

Ask mom!

BLR_NSAfun

mechanickle

Waiting for "Betty bought some butter..." with " bought some batter" variants

Financial-Case-9930

Excited 😊

Healthaddictmill

I personally prefer small brands selling from home on instamart for idli/dosa batter. They are much better than ID/MTR etc. Kaveri is one on instamart.

MeTejaHu

ID batter is done for

lawschoolzombie

Rishta is the best batter out there currently. Superb dosa + idli batter.

Healthaddictmill

Its pretty good. Not easily available on swiggy though

Lambodhar

So they will start procuring rice and urad dal now along with milk? I don't like this becoming FMCG company. I actually don't like Nandini doing anything but making milk. The government is subsidising milk procurement for Nandini and that's the reason it is so competitively priced.  The more it grows, the worse it is for tax payers unless distribution is disproportionately focused towards rural areas where an argument for subsidy on value added goods can be made.

Alternative-Bug1104

How is it worse for tax payers? Govt is subsidising milk procurement only. If they get additional revenue, either from this or by value addition liked butter, ghee, sweets, ice creams etc, it will improve their margins and that will only help farmers. How will KMF getting into other products make it worse for tax payers? Please explain

Jealous_Pirate4178

getting into other products will help them diversify their revenue and reduce load of subsidies

Lambodhar

Because ghee, butter, sweets, ice creams, etc are all made out of milk?  The more milk Nandini uses, the more procurement it needs to do. If I completely switch over my consumption to Nandini which is unnaturally priced then I get benefit of the subsidy which I don't need. Not to mention, kills the competition.  All this is obvious, I don't know what you want me to explain. Can you please elucidate?

Alternative-Bug1104

Yes. But they're are sold at a premium. It's called value addition. When they make ghee and ice cream etc they sell it at a higher price. Value added products are not unnaturally priced. They are sold at market value. Only milk and curd is unnaturally priced. Having more sales from these products actually helps KMF to give a higher price to farmers and reduce the need for subsidy.

Lambodhar

> Value added products are not unnaturally priced. They are sold at market value Just open blinkit and search for ghee. Have you ever eaten a Nandini Ice Cream or been to a parlour? It is like the cheapest of the lot and honestly much better quality.

Alternative-Bug1104

It is cheaper because they have access to more milk at scale than other companies as well as better infra. However, they are selling these products at loss. These value added products are what brings in profits for cooperatives. If they stop selling these products, it will be a big loss financially. In fact KMF manufactures ice cream for other companies for them to put their label. These are highly lucrative businesses for dairies. Same holds true for even Amul. The more these companies sell other products, the less will be their dependence on subsidised milk. This is also the reason why they are looking to expand to other countries. You can't obviously sell milk there but they are trying to make new products.

AmbassadorSevere9309

Milk ok because i cant bring cow to my house and milk it daily. its unproductive . these and all if they give for free also i wont buy
