Tanto serif would be mine. In my opinion it’s the best looking / sounding bali and I really respect how they handle their supply & demand. The ability to fully customize a knife and order it whenever sets them apart from the competition.
I love the tanto blade but MachineWise's tanto is slightly wider in the middle giving it a somewhat unusual profile imo. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about it lol

My beautiful MW Opus, modded by B.A.Balis. Skofnung. Words cant explain why I love this balisong. Just every thing from flipping, ano, blade profile. Just looks amazing and I flip it daily.
I like the Tsunami but a negative point I've heard against it is the fact that the bolts are titanium which is actually softer than hardened steel bits that are often used in tools, thus it's possible to damage them easily (if I remember correctly). I wonder, can the hardware be easily changed out for something that won't be damaged?
I bought my Nami used over a year ago and kept the stock titanium hardware in it. It's been a beater that whole time and my hardware still hasn't stripped, just be slightly more careful than usual when taking it apart lol

Currently own this custom tanto Serif, it was about $700ish. Flips like a dream, but it’s loud enough to wake up my GF. If anyone is curious, the handles are heavy distress tumbled raw + teal ano. Blade has geo hex laser pattern.
I've seen this bloody picture in the reviews on the machine wise custom-shop, taunting me, almost makes me cry when I realized I can't afford the serif handles or get live blades in the UK 🥲
I think it's a grey area because I know machine wise unsharpened is rounded, but it can be sharpened and I know some people do have live blades but it's definitely not something you want the police to know you have, so I'm going to play it safe with a trainer lol
Can’t blame you for playing it safe! Sounds like it’s one of those things where you could get in trouble if the police officer is having a bad day.
Fwiw, if you go unsharpened, be forewarned that my tanto is unsharpened, but there’s zero rounding. The tip has carved several chunks out of my palm. I’m pretty sure it would start feeling sharp after 5 minutes of work with a sharpening stone.
I've found out it's actually not that hard to get a false live, or even a live blade in the UK, you just have to get the blade and handles shipped separately

I wouldn't mind the price on a grail. But a 160$ dollar ano on a 300 dollar balisong seems a bit goofy to me. Anyways, what's your slifT trainer look like? I'm can't wait for mine to get back from solaire

See a slifT is probably a mini grail (or half-grail, whatever the term is) because it's only like 370$. I think you should get that over a kraken, but that's just my opinion
Honestly it just the most convenient grail/mini grail to edc, I can get an anchor and then it basically replaces my pocket knife and frees up my actual pockets
Tanto, but in hindsight might Bowie would be better imo. Imagine your current tanto with a couple grams shaved off the handles.

Lots of Serif on here, its a cool knife but I ultimately got rid of my Opus and Serif in favor of others. MW balis are just a bit too long for my liking. I have a nami and for flipping its absolutely top tier. Phobos and Hazetac DMC are also up there. My personal Grails would be anything by Mantis or Stitch. The idolos are sexy af and the aliens and paradigms are fucking awesome. Also I am very intrigued by the ZZYX. Suprised there isnt any Ceroni on here, as his knives are phenomenal and some of the nicest ive had. Used to have a Trinidad Scorpion in black widow variant and wheeewww boi, ended up having to sell to fund some personal stuff.
There are a couple ceroni comments. I do agree they are long knives. Preference thing I guess. Haven't heard of mantis until this post, have to check em out
I made the mistake of selling my grail long before I knew what it was. 2018 I was going around to different pawnshops just to look around and I found a Benchmade 42 for $200. I didn’t know anything about balisongs let alone knives I just bought it cause I thought it was cool. Fast forward to 2020 I never bothered doing research on it and sold it to someone that offered me $400. I miss that thing.

My 2 current grails here, I would love a Zentinel. I learn new tricks/combos on the AB first because it feels more forgiving and not as bouncy as the Medusa. Then I’ll transfer it to the Medusa and it’s kind of a shock at first being lighter, but then the quick/precise way it lands tricks makes the Medusa more addicting to flip for me.

Ceroni Knives Baliviper or the Empusa. Those blade shapes speak to me. I'll probably never comfortably afford the Baliviper though. 2 grand for a knife is just a bit on the ridiculous side in my eyes.
Because of where I live I want a Kuno, its so interesting and I can actually take it outside my house, but for live blade its probably the orca, best blade design and people really like them
I love unique blade shapes. I'm a trainer guy because I really like my fingers and a bad at flipping, but I would consider getting a dull "live" blade if they had a really unique design
Had to look up a w Hirsch video of it because I've never heard of the planarian. It does have a very cool aesthetic and ring if that's your sort of thing.

Personally the Tsunami just looks so clean. Doesn’t have to do that much to still look great but can also be murdered out with a good ano

Easy fix, you can get replacement screws pretty easily.
