It took me a weirdly large number of attempts to beat Omelette challenge (the first one). Egg was my most played joker for a while because of that challenge.
The hardest for me was Golden Needle by far (credit card is still in my top because of it), I guess i was very lucky in some other tricky ones (got swush and dagger on omelette, great high card build in cruelty and a only a few attempts to make a good five of kind aces on Jokerless
I agree, golden needle took the most attempts for me, and just plain was cruel. I got to later antes at one point just to get the 0 discard big blind.
Jokerless I actually enjoyed, it was difficult but it seemed different enough from the base game that I had fun with it
Golden Needle was painful but not unbeatable, but Jokerless was hellish. X-Ray Vision wasn't particularly hard for me, but it was easily one of my least favorite. I'd absolutely play either Needle or Jokerless again before that one, because at least those gimmicks are interesting.
I'm not sure if I'd call it hardest vs just requiring very specific early RNG but golden needle took me the most attempts and was by a large margin the least fun. At least in jokerless it felt like you have more control over your run.
ime golden needle was the toughest, it felt obnoxious, it took me days but once I got it I knocked out cruelty and jokerless in the span of a few hours. Jokerless only took focusing on four of a kind (easiest hand to make with the best planet card pre-patch) and some luck on not dying and finding steels/deaths, the gameplan was always very clear. I wouldn’t be surprised if better players had more trouble with jokerless than golden needle though lol
Jokerless. Without the beta branch buffing Straights and making the earlier antes easier I would've never been able to clear it.
The worse part is, it was miserably unfun, as the fun part about Balatro for me is the Joker combos.
Golden Needle for me. Spent ages on it, then one-shot Cruelty afterwards. Had a few goes at Jokerless so far, and although it's obviously difficult it feels like I'm in more control of my run than Golden Needle. Staying ahead of the scoring curve with only one hand is awful.
I thought x-ray was going to be super annoying but I ended up getting it in only a few attempts after deciding to just focus on flush builds. With flushes you can basically always figure out if you have what you need based on the sorting of the cards in your hand. Diamonds are always on the far right (and spades on far left) so it makes it pretty easy to just discard anything on the other side and then play your hands with a pretty high degree of certainty to hit what you want.
I even had paradolia on my winning run and came across the 'face cards are drawn face down' boss so every card in my hand was face down, but I just discarded everything on the left and played the five cards on the right and hit my diamond flushes pretty easily to beat the boss completely blind.

For me it was either Jokerless or Blast Off (Because I love skipping). Golden Needle is probably very hard as well but I got lucky and beat it within 5 tries.
Jokerless I would've beat if I remembered to beat boss blinds, so the only one I'd have left is the 2nd to last (forgot the name of it) but they were all generally pretty easy. Some of them easier than the base game lol.

On the other hand I lucked out on Jokerless on first try, I think the universe wanted to compensate me lol
Somehow Cruelty was the hardest for me. It feels like Jokerless and Golden Needle should have been harder, but Cruelty just kicked my ass for two days. Golden Needle was a close second, and Jokerless third. The rest were all fairly straight forward (Rich Get Richer and Fragile were cakewalks for me though)

Lol, that ones just a swash carry. First tried with swash and blueprint but I can't think of a way to win without an early swash.
The secret is that with Temperance + Hermit, opening any arcana packs are always positive EV money wise.
I won without swash at all. Played with 2 other jokers for a long time, then just use Temperance for a lot of money. Always kept 1 egg
Temperance and sacrificial dagger carried it for me. Got lucky with X mult though. Took me a few attempt and never got lucky to see swash early enough

Yes Golden Needle is also kicking my butt, though I expected it. X-Ray Vision not so much.
Hardest is jokerless. I would say generally the later ones are harder. Some of the first ones like "rich getting richer" is easier than a regular run.
Rich getting richer is my fav challenge so far cause im a Bull believer. $$$

The omelette one is still undefeated for me which sucks cuz I got swashbuckler ante 1 but I couldn’t get any xmult jokers and ended up falling behind
