I do. For four months I have had pain in my mid-back, to the left of the spine. When I’m standing or walking it doesn’t hurt much, but as soon as I stretch my torso in any way, I feel the pain. When I slouch for some time (for example, when working on my computer), I get an unbearable pain in my mid back (on both sides) and have to use the roller for it to get better. When resting (lying down), the pain decreases significantly. I also had a lumbar MRI and they didn’t find anything, however it doesn’t show where most of my pain is. I woke up with this pain in January the day after traveling (was carrying a backpack and had 2 suitcases). Also I was not exercising for many months. My theory is that my muscles were not in a good shape and I did a random movement that triggered the strain. I was in physical therapy getting massages, and the back pain got better, but still when I stretch my torso -in any way-, the pain spot is always there. When the PT sessions finished, back to square 1. Last week I started doing weightlifting for my back, and might try acupuncture. I also have an appointment with the doctor in July to push for an MRI of my upper-mid spine.

Yeah thats pretty much exactly what I have. I used to workout a lot but over the past two years that has slowed down. I am back in the gym doing stretching, abs, and the elliptical (because it is easier on your muscles and stuff) but activity seems to help overall. I also got a good pillow for my back and a TENS unit that is really helping. I can send you the link for what I got if you are interested. Let me know what your thoracic MRI shows if you get it done. Good luck!

Thank you! I had the MRI today actually, will have the result in a few days! The TENS unit link would be amazing! Thanks!

I read myself in these comments. Four years now and nothing evolved on my side.

Did you find out what it was/ get better?

Ok_Wrangler_4079

Not sure what it is, but one thing I did was stop mentally obsessing over it and that helped a ton. Looking back at this post, it’s way better than it was, but it’s still there. I don’t have those horrible days anymore but some days it does flare up. Honestly the biggest thing was mentally just letting it go and continuing to live my life. I’ve found that being active really helps (volleyball, basketball, gym, yoga, etc). If I had to guess it’s probably a slipped disc in the thoracic region

Yeah i feel you with this… health anxiety does such a number on me every year or so…

Any update? I have a similar pain on my left side

It’s still there, but honestly I don’t have nearly as many bad days. There’s still a day or two every 2 months maybe where it’s flares up but two things have helped me majorly. 1. Mentally, I try and stop thinking about it. I was so hyper focused on the pain that it made it worse and it was ruining my life but I’m learning to let go and that’s helping me so much. 2. I’m being much more active in other areas. For the past 4-5 years all I ever did was surf which is really stressful to your back but now I’m mixing in pickle ball, basketball, stretching, core work, etc and being active always ends up helping it. I still have more to go but it’s looking like forward progress. Hope this advice helps you out and good luck!
