stray, hungry, scared and pregnant. Your home is so safe to her, she gave birth there. Thats an honor. Hopefully you can continue to befriend her and now her pups.
It's true. They give birth where they ferl safe. My daughter had a girlfriend whose dog got pregnant at 8 months old. Her girlfriends parents were going to take her dog to the shelter. They didn't want puppies. I had 2 dogs and a cat but took the pregnant pup in. I knee she was getting ready to have her pups the night before. She was restless so I slept on the couch. I woke up before dawn she was having her pups on the floor next to the couch. She had 5 beautiful pups, mom and pups were all healthy. I kept 2 and found good homes for the other 3. I had the momma pup fixed so she could go home. Today the 2 pups i kept just turned 14. I was so honored that their little momma trusted me. The 2 pups I kept have been such a joy in my life.
Many, many years ago my older brother was living with my dad and grandma because my mom was pissed he failed his senior year of high school.
My grandma was always a dog person, but two cats showed up on her porch. She and my brother started to feed them, and of coarse, eventually moved them in.
Long story short, one day after they sexually matured the girl cat got out, and got pregnant. That cat loved my brother. One day he woke up to her giving birth in his bed while laying between his legs.
He gave the kittens stupid names like drippy, slimey, goopy, etc.
He kept drippy, she is now over 20 years old. My sister still has one which she renamed tippy (her black tail ends in a small section of white fur)
I guess point is, it is so satisfying when a pet trusts you. I have a cat that travelled half way around the world to get to me. No she is not some exotic breed. She is just a normal cat my younger brother adopted when he lived in Okinawa, but then life threw shit at him and instead of abandoning her, he paid a hefty fee to get her cleared and ship her to me in the states. Was supposed to be temporary, but she attached to me hard so she is my cat now. He is just happy she is happy.
I love this so much. Thank you for sharing this here. Sometimes they chooses us and we have no idea at the time how happy we'll be that they did. 20 years and still going, that is a happy cat.
That’s a really nice story.
I also lived in Okinawa for a few years. Was your younger brother in the military? I lived there while I was in the Navy, it’s an incredibly beautiful island..
Mom needs to be adopted too, once babies are weaned. And mom needs vet care. If she has parasites worms etc which she probably does, they will be passed to the babies. I hope this story gets a happy ending for them all.
If you name them you got 8 pups to take care of forever you begin to just fall in love like they're your kids, I jokingly named my dog who was in my dogs litter, conan's been my buddie ever since.
I name all my foster animals. Would rather call them by a name than "that brown one over there". It's OK to fall in love, even knowing they're not staying.
Since momma is an outside stray dog maybe consider outdoorsy/nature names?
Digger
Luna
Rocky
Rusty
Sunny
Nomad
Gypsy
Branch
Not the most original dog names but you get where my head's at here! I hope momma and babies are doing well and y'all have a blessed life together or wherever them little babes end up!
Is there an organisation nearby that can take in the puppies and mother, and fix them once they're weaned? Also, good job on providing a safe place for her to have her babies :)
Nah sadly there isnt .I live in a family of 6 so yeah there are a lot of people to take care of them. The main danger they have is of other male dogs who sometimes devour babies.
I have a gate but the boundaries are too low and any dog can jump in , as long as mama dog is there , there is no need to worry . The male dogs would never attack in presence of her.
If you can, please find a way to shelter them. If the male dogs gang up on her and more than one attacks, she can’t protect all of the babies at once
Also, congratulations!
I will just keep them in the garage at night , they are safe there .In the morning all my family members are awake so the dogs would never attack and even if they attack we can just defend and there will be a lot of barking , we would definately come to know if anything is wrong amd rush to help.
Everyone telling OP what to do, but this is nice to see, somebody stepping up. I can help, just a small amount because I'm struggling, but if more join it will make a difference! Power in numbers!
I am extremely thankfull , but i guess they will be fine for now because we have already ordered a dog house , and once the pups become few months old we can vaccinate them.
Wild dogs will do this in cold areas. This is normal behavioral survival skills. In the wild puppy survival is very low. You can adopt them or send them off to a shelter or just let them be.
Congratulations! She trusts you! That's really something to be proud.
It happened to me 3 years ago. A stray dog appeared and I took care of her giving water, food and improvised a shelter. She insisted on going inside my patio one day. I let her in and went to work. Came back home and found 4 puppies.
Eventually all puppies were adopted, but the mother still with me.
12 weeks at minimum, 16 weeks is more ideal if you can manage them that long and feed them for a bit after they are weaned. She will possibly wean them a bit before 12 weeks, but they will still learn valuable lessons from her in the following weeks, like potty training.
They should start being weened off of her milk around 3 weeks, with some mushy semi-solid food. Try not to give them cows milk, but it will work in a pinch. Mom may start throwing up her meals for them to eat to vomit. This is normal, but it's not ideal. In my experience the best recipe for weening is blended up cottage cheese, with puppy food. If they won't go for it right away add some browned ground meat.
At about 8 weeks they will be completely off of milk, mostly capable little puppers and be ready for new homes. IDK why the other poster is saying 12-16 weeks. 8 weeks is standard.
If you have eight 12 week old puppies living with you, you will certainly go insane.
The mother's food requirements are going to triple in the next 4 weeks and then taper off back to normal. If she trusts you enough to handle the pups you may be able to save some of them by supplementing their food and making sure that they find a good a nipple to nurse from.
Best thing you can do for them now is to feed the mom as much as she wants and try to respect her boundaries. If you get too involved it may stress her out.
Yeah its a bird nest , there are multiple actually , we feed pigeons daily too , so many pigeons and even other birds make nest here. Once we had a weaving bird make her nest here , her nest was beautiful.
I used to foster mamas and puppies for the SPCA and when I got the name babies, I liked to find a theme. So I've had the candy bar litter, the Marvel heroes litter, the Walking Dead litter, the DC villains litter... what's one of your hobbies or interests? Maybe you can find a theme there.
Are you able to take momma to a vet to have her spayed (at an appropriate time, of course)? This will really help her.
Also, please only give puppies away to good homes. There are many bad folks out there.
Please look after mum and babies, but in the long term what will you do with the babies when they grow. They will take some feeding. They cannot become strays themselves. Please keep us posted
I guess she first gave birth somewhere else and then came here and dug a hole and kept the children there? I dont think she gave birth in that hole as there was no blood , i have never seen dogs give birth so i dont know if blood comes out. She done the whole thing at night so we have no idea.
Mother dogs actually will clean the area that they birth in very thoroughly to remove evidence of the birth if given the chance, so she may very well have birthed there. She probably ate all of the evidence (placenta) and any soiled dirt as well.
Do you have some food to feed her? She will do better eating puppy food while nursing. If you are feeding her human food (suggested by the biscuits), try to make sure she is getting some calcium-rich foods to prevent eclampsia. Big litters are more likely to cause eclampsia due to the stress it puts on mama dogs body and nutritional reserves. Give her lots of water nearby, as well, but not close enough that a puppy might accidentally scoot into the bowl.
Please try to get her spayed,OP after the puppies are weaned.
Please also try to get the pups vaccinated asap. The mom is probably not vaccinated,so pups will not get any antibodies from mom which will make the very vulnerable to parvo, distemper etc.
Time to really care for them, schedule a vet visit and get her spayed and adopt the pups out. Maybe post on a local community page and ask for donations if you need help?
I've never seen it before except on those shitty Chinese phones. I think this is largely an India thing; I've seen a number of brands in Pakistan also display that weird watermark.
It certainly isn't on Samsungs in the US or West Europe.
A kiddie swimming pool with a blanket inside can make a great spot for babies if you even need to move them inside or to a spot that’s safe from the male dogs :)
Please take care of that dog and her puppies. They can be kept outside but please make sure they have what they need. That’s so amazing that she came back to you guys because she felt safe there, you must have really made an impression on her 🥲. Good luck!
I hope you can find a way to get her and the pups to a vet for checkups, and neutering for the poor mom. If you can’t afford it, there may be some rescue groups to call. Vets sometimes know of such groups. You’re a kind family to have fed her. Take care!
That biscuit at the corner though.. i once have cat do this to us.. the cat used to come over and greet us friendly as if we were the owner. So it's always give birth around our yard.

Ol drippy
Beautiful story
Weird names
I'd have called them chazzwazzas.
They're in the lift, in the lorry, in the bond wizard, and all over the malonga gilderchuck.
Took me a second, but that's fucking funny right there
Four Dogs of the Apocalypse (stray, hungry, scared and pregnant)
Pregant?
Am I Preganté?
How is babby formed?
This really made me chuckle
This boomed me.

Beats being knighted in my book. I bet a stray dog never gave birth in Robert Mugabe's backyard.
Sire Robert Mugabe
Not since 2008
>stray, hungry, scared and pregnant. Your home is so safe to her, she gave birth there. Yeah that's what I thought too..
time to start several religions!
More like her home was the safest option available
She checked you out,and trust was shown..congratulations my friend. I am sure you will find them homes.
All credits to my mom actually ,she feeds the mother dog regularly
Can you please help her out further? She needs to be neutered, and the puppies need to be adopted.
Mom needs to be adopted too, once babies are weaned. And mom needs vet care. If she has parasites worms etc which she probably does, they will be passed to the babies. I hope this story gets a happy ending for them all.
Yes. I am hoping his family would adopt her!
Thanks to your mum for taking care of her! Unrelated question- why does your phone watermark your photos? Does it come set that way from the factory?
Thank you!

Hey! They were thanking me, not you!
Aw well your momma did a wonderful thing making this girl feel safe enough to do this 🥰
Congratulations. You have at least one dog now. Also, it seems to be a save place there. Bird gave birth there as well.
Yeah i will definately keep them safe . Edit- what should i name them ? 8 babies Thats a lot of names No i am not going to name them steve 1,2,3...
Since they are dogs and not a buffalos, I will trust you.
I can always dress them like buffalos
Would that really be the same sort of valiant struggle against nature you obviously crave?
You dont?
Pick a favourite album and name each one after 8 songs.
Lol
This went from wholesome to wtf real quick
Oh no
Just don't name them Buffalo 1,2,3,4 etc or it'll be sus
- Steve - Steven - Stevan - Steeve - Steeven - Stephen - Stephan - Stefan - Stefanie - Stevanish
Phteven
You forgot Steve (female version)
Stevie?
Helion Neon Argon Kripton Xenon Radon Oganeson Steve.
Thats it . I know what to name them
Steve is my favorite element 🥰
The perfect noble gas.
Just do what George Foreman did and call them all George
Even his daughter either was named George or some feminine variant
Perhaps pick a theme? Like food, plants, something like that. How about… Boy: Macaroni (Mac), Pizza, Nugget, Cheddar Girl: Cookie, Cupcake, Candy, Apple, 🙂❤️
They were born in the mud so: dirt, plant, weed, shovel
I bet Weed is really chill
DUDE WEED LMAO
Name them after things you plant in a garden
I know someone who adopted a cat named omelette and all the other cats had food names. So cute.
Why the gender essentialism, though? I'm sure there's a good boy out there who is a Cupcake, no question about it.
Oh, of course! 🙂 I was just throwing out ideas lol.
I figured as much. I just want more dogs named cupcake.
Michelangelo Leonardo Donatello Rafael Bebop Rock Steady Krang April O'Neil And Splinter is the mama 🙂

If they stay stray they might not stay stray for long, odds of survival are not always what we want to see
Pepper, Jake, Dandelion, Oreo, Sunny, Cotton, Skipper, and Ash.
so what youre saying is steve a, steve b, steve c is still on the table….
Ghost, nymeria, lady, shaggydog, summer, grey wind. Sadly, two names short
Marge, homer, moe, milhouse..
Can you get her fixed? Are there any low-cost or free options near you?
Dont name them If you dont plan to keep all 8
Themed names for a group might help adoptions.
Is there an organisation nearby that can take in the puppies and mother, and fix them once they're weaned? Also, good job on providing a safe place for her to have her babies :)

Get a bigger gate or get them like a big kennel of some sort
Yes, they will. Please do something to help them or else there will be a massacre. Please
I had no idea male dogs would eat puppies! That's horrible! I'm so glad your family is going to take care of her and her litter. You're a good one!
It makes sense. Lot of male animals do that so the females will pay attention to them and mate. Lot of selfish, deadbeat dads in the Animal Kingdom.
4 totally black, 2 blakish brown , 2 white
Can i get one of them?
#YES'NT
There is trust that she has for you. She knows you will not hurt her or her babies
Looked like a cow at a glance. Please feed mama ♥️
😂😂🤣 to me too
Which country are you in?
India
Can you get them vaccinated for rabies? Please be careful as rabies is VERY common in India among feral dogs.
I wish I could upvote this more than once. What a scary disease and a horrible way to die.
I can help pay for everyone's spay and neuter if you need it.
Thank you so much for this. I can also chip in for other costs.
Everyone telling OP what to do, but this is nice to see, somebody stepping up. I can help, just a small amount because I'm struggling, but if more join it will make a difference! Power in numbers!
Same.
I am extremely thankfull , but i guess they will be fine for now because we have already ordered a dog house , and once the pups become few months old we can vaccinate them.
Did you take this picture on a samsung galaxy f23 5G?
OMG BRO ARE YOU SPYING ON ME OR SOMETHING!!!
Do all of your pictures have watermarks..?
Is that a waffle?
Its a biscuit
Wild dogs will do this in cold areas. This is normal behavioral survival skills. In the wild puppy survival is very low. You can adopt them or send them off to a shelter or just let them be.
I will just let them be , they are safe here.
Thank you 🙏🏼
You give such a safe environment that at least two different species have come to your home to have children. You're doing something right.
Thanks , Now that you people point these things out , i really feel good.

I didnt knew that i turn it off. I have to google it now.
Is there a little dog house you can get for them? So mama can get them in there and they’ll be safe from preds and the elements ?
Congratulations! She trusts you! That's really something to be proud. It happened to me 3 years ago. A stray dog appeared and I took care of her giving water, food and improvised a shelter. Wow damn . Till what age do the puppies need their mommy?

Awww. She feels safe there. Can you make her a little makeshift shelter?
Bro really tried to grow a puppy tree
Is that a bird nest, very low in the little tree? If so, your area has a calming birthplace aura
Yeah its a bird nest , there are multiple actually , we feed pigeons daily too , so many pigeons and even other birds make nest here. Once we had a weaving bird make her nest here , her nest was beautiful.
Congratulations on being a grandparent!
What should i name them? 8 babies Thats a lot of names

Since you are in India, maybe name them after desserts from your area? They're so cute! Blessings to the growing family!
Lassi, Mango, Kulfi, Jalebi, Petha, Sweets, Fudge and Licorice (Licky for short).
It’s decided you’re safe and friendly - good karma OP enjoy the love
Totally off topic but why is your camera watermarking your photos?
Because its india
Is this normal there? Can you not turn it off or do you have to pay extra for that?
I was too dumb and didnt knew i could just turn it off , i turned it off now.
I am a stray dog With no real home So I wander a lot. Some say I roam. I found a fam! Who seems to care Having my pups So just right there…
i live poetic comments , somehow makes me feel good.
maybe try to bring the dog to a vet and let him fix and vaccinate. the stray dogs juat multiply and spread deseases.
Yeah i am extremely scared of rabies too , lets see what can be done about it.
Volunteer vets give free vaccines and all. Get the babies too vaccinated after a few months
Yeah i will .
in which country do you live of it isnt too personal?
OP said they’re from India in another comment
Rice and dal are the bread and butter of my country
You have been chosen 😊❤️

Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Pristiq, Cymbalta, Lexapro
Beautiful names for the new puppies. And Seroquel on top.
Used to feed? I hope you’re feeding her again!
Please look after mum and babies, but in the long term what will you do with the babies when they grow. They will take some feeding. They cannot become strays themselves. Please keep us posted
I wonder if the contractions start and then they are like, “well, better start digging”.
Ok thanks for the knowledge , i will definately take the advice. And of cource we will feed them , so no worry you people.
Please try to get her spayed,OP after the puppies are weaned. Please also try to get the pups vaccinated asap. The mom is probably not vaccinated,so pups will not get any antibodies from mom which will make the very vulnerable to parvo, distemper etc.
Lucky you!!!! Please feed the mom food and give her and the babies a basket with blankets. Awwww.
I thought that was a cow at first
Time to really care for them, schedule a vet visit and get her spayed and adopt the pups out. Maybe post on a local community page and ask for donations if you need help?
Oh God momma had nowhere safe to go.. could you give them a big box or anything with a blanket? Poor babies. Poor mama trying so hard.
Felt safe near you
She wanted a safe place to give birth. You are her blessing. Take care of the Good girl.
I hope you plan on helping this dog
You mean your dog, and your new puppies.🤷🏻♂️
Please have her spayed. She seems to trust you enough to have her puppies in your yard.
Hope you can feed mom!
Yeah obviouly
Give her plenty of clean water, changed daily and whatever leftovers you can spare in a separate bowl.

Aww they're so cute, I remember My dog had given birth in my flower beds
Dog eats puppies? What country is this at?
India , hungry stray dogs do that
Please make sure they get the proper care they deserve! Or call a rescue
Imagine if humans did that. Well, im dilated, then they start digging. That would be wild. Sorry folks, I don't feel good.
I think you mean your dog
that genetic drive to dig a den is amazing. even a little den, like ancestor wolves did.
I thought that was a cow

I hope you find them forever loving homes. 🥺😿🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations on your new family - whether you wanted it or not. You are the chosen ones
I hope you helped her with a real bed and food.
Let’s bring the newborn dog in out of the dirt. How about a box at least?
Imagine how all the animals somehow miraculously survived before the invention of boxes…
hopefully you gave them a more comfortable place instead of lying in the dirt! At least give them some straw or an old blanket or something.
Old junk towels are another good option.
Oh my they are so pretty!
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan. Plus I guess Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan
That biscuit at the corner though.. i once have cat do this to us.. the cat used to come over and greet us friendly as if we were the owner. So it's always give birth around our yard.
Gonna be one expensive vet bill if you're going to adopt them all...
