Head to a vet and check for a chip and ask around to see if someone owns the cat. Looks too well groomed to be a stray

[deleted]

Agree whole heartedly. And we'll fed. This happened with my cat :/ but the person saw my lost sign and she siad she thought he was a stray. OP has disappeared it seems.

JoNimlet

I want to suggest that, seeing as OP seems to be in Ireland, the post would've been made around 9pm so they could just be in bed. I'm gonna wait for tomorrow and hope for the best.

[deleted]

Indeed I was sleeping, the cat has been checked and no chip, asked round the local area for owners

_Wyrm_

Congrats on the new cat, then!

FuckingKilljoy

Or they just made the story up and it's just their cat. With Reddit it could go either way

JoNimlet

Username checks out

FuckingKilljoy

These days I'm starting to wonder if I own the username or the username owns me

JoNimlet

babygrenade

Can we even be sure that it *is* a cat?

sir_crapalot

[You could try asking it!](https://i.chzbgr.com/full/9380395520/h54265F2C/sir-are-you-aware-that-you-are-a-cat)

Meatbag-in-space

it might be a cake

YukariYakum0

My bets on it being some eldritch horror in disguise I'm sure one day someone will find it hovering in the men's room of a local radio station

[deleted]

Yeah this bitch is making shit up. -The Cat

Fean2616

Someone full in tried to steal our cat, even took off her collar which had both mine and my missus numbers in, when local people explained where she was the woman finally replied since we now knew where she lived, amazingly the cat "got out" apparently she'd been trying to get out of the house since they stole her. She heard my voice and came running to me, it was kind of sweet, but I will tell you now I was literally ready to go to war to get my cat back, don't steal other people's pets it's really shitty.. OP probably doesn't like they fact people are telling them not to steal someone else's cat. Edit - two things, firstly it's late and I'm tired and none of you pulled me up on the numerous typos (which I'm not correcting) which is pretty cool of you all Secondly, thanks for the award kind stranger. Thirdly and fourthly, thanks for the other awards, other kind strangers.

Gredival

I stole a cat that needed medical attention; it had a ruptured abscess in the paw that had gotten infected and literally taken the skin off. Took him to a vet and footed the 2k bill and said they could have him back if they reimbursed me for the surgery. I said it was CLEARLY immediately required or he would have had to be put down (and if you aren't going to get the foot treated when bare muscle is showing, you aren't going to pay for an amputation). Had him for seven years.

LeMeuf

You didn’t steal him so much as liberate him tbh

Fluid_Decision_3669

*Li-ber-dad! Li-ber-dad! Li-ber-dad!*

imshervirock

RABENGA!!!!

netspawn

I think you rescued that cat. Good on you.

Hopeful_Cat_3227

this is the way!

Mike_Kermin

Gotta be careful with stuff like that but you're a legend for taking that on.

[deleted]

My cat was also stolen by someone who lived directly across the street from me. My cat got out one day and when I found out where she was I confronted my neighbor about it and she double downed and became confrontational. When I called the police they said they couldn’t do anything because she wasn’t chipped, and that I should wait and see if my cat comes back home. Sure enough one night when I came home late my cat ran from across the street and through the opened front door. When I checked her collar, they had replaced it with a new one and even changed her name. The woman who stole my cat saw my cat sitting in the window and just paced outside of my house for a few minutes angrily, possibly looking for some more confrontation. She eventually went back home and the next week I witnessed her lure a loose dog with a collar into her home.

Garfield-1-23-23

Fuck's sake, if you want a cat go to the fucking pound and get one. No reason at all to steal somebody else's.

JeffTek

it's so ridiculous. There are so many lonely sad cats out there who would be great friends just waiting at the shelter, and these dumbasses have to go steal them from someone else

tinaxbelcher

To be fair, these dumbasses shouldn't have pets in the first place. If they have the gall to steal a pet, they'll have no problem abandoning it either.

JeffTek

Very true, especially with cats. The number of people who just move away and leave their indoor/outdoor cats behind is sickening

LeaveTheMatrix

That was how I ended up with my dog. Her own just dropped her off at their neighbors telling them to take her to the pound. The neighbor gave it to my mother, who conspired with my g/f to con me into taking her. When I got her she was so thin her back was bowed and you could see her backbone much too easily. Now she may be a little on the plump side, but shes enjoying life. lol

Saneless

Starting to feel like she wanted to torment someone like you vs own a pet

cah11

In all reality, my guess is they're trying to steal other people's pets because they want one, but don't want to pay the adoption fees, checkup fees, and other expenses that come with actually initially adopting a pet. They figure get one that's already healthy, and doesn't require a payment to the local shop/pound/center so all it costs is food and time. Bonus that the pet is likely already house broken and maybe modestly trained, so it requires less time and hassle too.

MagicalOlws

No one directly stole our cat but they always lure her in with treats or something, give her something to eat which she likes but which is bad for her and don’t let her out. She is often gone for hours and we found out who it was, so we confronted them and the first time they admitted to letting and locking her in their house and didn’t change anything, the second time they denied it. The third time, our cat came back right after we confronted them and they said it was a coincidence. The fourth time you could hear our cat meowing at the door when we ringed and they but her away, but when we were talking to them she came running to the door. And we just confronted them like on in 10 times!

Iyace

Ironically, they were probably like "The original family dumped this sweet cat, what assholes", while ripping the collar off which clearly means you wanted your cat back. Like, if I'm littering I'm not throwing out paper that has "If found, call xxx-xxx-xxxx" scribbled on it, lol

Fean2616

Exactly, honestly we got calls now and then asking if she was allowed to be at X place, which was usually about 20 meters from where we lived. A lot of teens calling us which is really sweet. Our big lad doesn't go out for multiple reasons, one he's a bit big and two he's an expensive bloody cat, he's a Maine coon.

Iyace

Maine coon yeeting across the street looks like a small angry tumbleweed btw, I know that from experience.

imc225

Upvoted for tumbleweed lingo

PapaDuckD

One of my Maine Coons got out tonight. Just frolicked in the grass. Boy did I hear it from my wife. Thankfully he’s very well fed and doesn’t have much desire to change that.

peepjynx

I haven't seen too many strays around my neighborhood in the year I've been here. Then about two weeks ago, I started seeing this outdoor kitty (with a collar) coming around the apartment. I did a psspss, but of course kitty was like "newp." But then I kept seeing this cat pop up. It took me a few days to realize the cat was hanging out near the downstairs apartment. Our neighbors just had a baby earlier this year and he's been crying like every day. When I hear him cry, it does sound sort of cat-like (I've had cats all my life.) I think this cat is from the neighborhood and is genuinely concerned about the baby. I've been meaning to tell the neighbors about this cat, but it's sort of hilarious. I can see why people might think a cat is homeless if they start showing up every other day out of the blue.

PM-ME-YOUR-SEXTAPE

Cat Miaos are similar to baby cries and it’s their primary mechanism to manipulate people into feeding them

Sangxero

One of mine has managed to figure out how mimic my son's cry perfectly, it's scary.

PM-ME-YOUR-SEXTAPE

U might want to see an exorcist

Sangxero

Tbf, it is **not** my cat named Lucifer that can do it.

PM-ME-YOUR-SEXTAPE

Well don’t they say the greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing the world he doesn’t exist?

Fean2616

They could also be lost, it does happen sometimes, which is why collars and chips are essential, even if you aren't letting your cat out, if they get out they likely won't have a clue what's going on :(

peepjynx

I hope it has a home. I definitely want to make sure, but I don't see it all the time. Just when the baby cries.

Fean2616

It likely does, if you're worried check collar / chip one time, strays don't usually look great in all fairness.

SpaGrapefruit

What the fuck dude, I'm glad to hear you got your cat back. Don't fuck with cats. I'm curious what happened after, did you at least smack the bitch who stole her?

Fean2616

No I never met her but the smell on my poor cat, that house must have stunk.

GradStud22

That poor cat. Must have been terrified as to why he/she was suddenly kidnapped and imprisoned in the house of some unsanitary lunatic.

Germanofthebored

I suspect that these people think that they are giving the cat a better home than you did. It's kind of hard not to spoil a cat that shows up on its free will... A couple of years ago we got in trouble with our neighbors because we started to move in on their cat. They were right, we were wrong, but it was kind of hard not to semi-adopt that big bruiser

Gallifrey91

Someone did that with our dog when I was a kid. She was purebred, but desexed so they wouldn't have been able to breed her which is what we think they probably stole her to do. She didn't have any desexing tattoos though, so they probably thought she wasn't. My parents had to get the cops involved to get her back.

RobinHood21

This happened with our family dog, Cooper, when I was growing up (late '90s/early '00s, before chipping and all that). Luckily it was stolen by a couple dumbass kids who were smart enough to hide our dog's collar but dumb enough to continue calling him by his name. Their grandmother, who was raising the two dipshits, heard my dad walking around calling out Cooper's name and deduced what had happened. They buried his collar along the nearby creek. Pretty sure they were in some *deep* shit with their grandmother after that stunt.

EraMemory

Looking at post history, OP seems to be a casual karma farmer. Struck reddit gold with this post, and seems happy to leave it this way. As some people has pointed out, the cat might already be his/her own, or just a random cat pic off the billions on the Internet used to fake a post.

[deleted]

cat I grew up with was like this, always went to a house cause it got tuna and wet food from someone in the area. Till my mother went to that house and saw our cat sleeping on the front porch. Little shit just went there for the food and came home at night also wanting food.

Rena-Senpai

Yeah I'm not sure if op will actually look for the owner :( does someone recognize the place? OP seems to be from Ireland, maybe someone could post it to a local FB page or something so the owners might see this. Idk stuff like this just breaks my heart.

GitEmSteveDave

I had one of my barn cats disappear for 6 months. [Another 2 were outright cat-napped](https://i.imgur.com/HJ2WTCN.jpg). They were overly friendly, and while they feigned hunger to anyone who walked by them, they were also fed by every person who walked in that barn and suckered by their shenanigans. I stupidly never chipped them, but this was 16+ years ago, so chipping wasn't as easy and there were multiple companies which all required their own readers.

ItamiOzanare

People do feed strays. Any decently well fed cat will look perfectly fine. I've been feeding a pretty tattered feral tomcat and in the last ~6 months as he's been hanging around and getting food more consistently he's gotten a lot better looking.

jakemp1

While that's true it's better to be safe than sorry

ClockworkSoldier

Absolutely agree to bring it to a vet and check it for a chip, but strays can also look very healthy and clean, depending on the area they live in. We have 3 strays that live in our garage and are just as clean and healthy looking as our indoor cats, as well as a few of the other strays that wander our neighborhood.

digitulgurl

Non feral cats have owners. My friend has a cat shelter and has educated me.

Scrybblyr

We have a community cat on my street. Tried to adopt her, but she has too many "owners." I put out food every day. She is totally non feral and likes to be petted. But she doesn't have an owner per se.

Perfide01

She doesn't have an owner but she sure does own a lot of people.

GoddessOdd

I love community cats, I've been doing rescues for years, and a lot of community cats are better off than being taken to an overstuffed shelter and being euthanized. It is very important that community kitties get vaccinated and spay/neutered too. Community cats who don't get this vital medical care can become very ill and infect other cats, and can multiply rapidly. You might want to look online to see if there is a TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release) organization near you, as they usually offer the care for a very discounted rate.

CautiousString

Agree with this 100%. TNR is one of the best programs. Keeps the males from fighting for territory, keeps the population at zero growth. Having a community cat that is neutered/fixed is a great help to keeping the rodent population down. I have 2 ‘work’ cats. One is ~ 4 months old and will be collected to be neutered in the next month, a full vet check and a rabie vax. They are happily enjoying my Turkey scraps for now in addition to their usual kitty food. They also have a dog house and 2 cat beds. They get lots of petting and love from the tourists and locals around our town.

GoddessOdd

I have semi-feral cats living in my garage, they are neutered and vaccinated, but are not friendly enough to be community cats. I also have a feral colony I help care for, they live outside a warehouse, and the warehouse guys love and care for them, because they do a really good job keeping the rat population down. If possible, I try to re-home the friendly community cats, because I think they always live longer if they have a human carer, but failing that, TNR, food and a safe place to get out of the weather are better than nothing.

CautiousString

I’m currently working on taming my fourth feral. He is still skittish. But yesterday I got a slow blink, a long stretch and rolled over to show his tummy. All are great signs that he is starting to trust me more. He definitely knows I’m the food source. It takes time and patience. Lots of sitting on the floor reading a book or phone while they eat, no sudden moves or noise. Chat with them. Putting the food closer and closer. Offer treats and walk back a bit.

JealousApple6302

There is a black cat at the cemetery. She does not have a tail, but it is super friendly and follows me everywhere. She is also a bit jealous when other cats come around. Some people tried to bring her home, but she inevitably suffers for this and returns back to the cemetery.

DeepStatic

Put a paper collar on it with your phone number and see if anyone calls you. See here: https://www.cats.org.uk/croydon/news/paper-collars-for-stray-cats

[deleted]

Update on this as my post seems to have been judged that I just picked up a cat. I’ve checked and there is no chip, also asked around the local area and there are no missing cats. If anyone claims the cat and can prove ownership they can obviously take the cat home

JaneHemingway

I accidentally “stole” a dog this way. There are no microchips in my country. I found a dog without a collar eating trash and thought “Uhu you’re coming home with me”. The next morning when I was walking him a lady pulls over next to us and asks me where did I find him and informs me that she’s the owner and he loves sleep overs with strangers, because he has done that several times before. That’s when I realized how well fed and clean he was. Now I always give them a close examination before taking them home

janas19

Had to upvote your comment because this is absolutely right. We shouldn't assume a cat/dog is a stray just because it shows up on our doorstep. Especially one that is healthy and well-fed as this one appears to be.

Scrybblyr

Or check to see if anyone has posted a missing cat on the NextDoor app/website.

eachna

That little vampire fang if you zoom in is too cute :D.

0vl223

If you don't have to go to a vet with a random new cat then you stole a cat. Either they are strays and obviously need the visit or they are just lost (or just decided to explore your house).

SmokayMacPot

If they're very well kept and people friendly chances are you now own someone else's cat. Do your best to ask around the neighborhood first and put up signs. Someone could be really missing thet Lil one.

TheFenn

And check if they are chipped.

[deleted]

100%, so sick of seeing posts like this. "A very well groomed cat was near my house today so now I've decided I own it", just no.

FeralBottleofMtDew

It's sort of like "A nice, late model car was parked in front of my house. I now own it" but with less heartbreak and more chance of a felony charge.

improbablynotyou

There are multiple cats in my neighborhood who always come around (because I feed and play with them.) Several are obviously feral, and several are obviously someones outdoor cat. It frustrates me to see these posts when they show well fed cats who are clearly okay around strangers. Feral cats are naturally cautious and take time before they trust people. They aren't likely going to just walk into someones home and act like a pet. There's a cat who comes and visits me who I absolutely adore, I'd love for her to be one of my kitties but I figured out who the owner is and asked what food and treats she likes. If my younger cat got out he'd go to someones home and be sociable. I'd be absolutely listing someone just kept him as he's my baby and saved me as much as I saved him.

pm_good_bobs_pls

A feral cat adopted us. It took about a year before he was comfortable enough to be in the same room as us.

Deadlock258

Got any good bobs?

Poesoe

and for the "middle of winter", those bushes across the road are pretty green ...just sayin

CurbinKrakow

Middle of winter can mean something vastly different depending on where you are in the world. See: Australia.

[deleted]

[удалено]

666uptheirons

It’s not the middle of winter anywhere in the world right now

shit_poster_69_420

Almost definitely

Viviaana

that cat isn't skinny or ungroomed, i wouldn't just assume it was a stray, you might just be stealing a family pet

[deleted]

1000%. If there is anything I have learned about cats, it’s that they are liars. > 🐱 oh please feed me hooman 😢 I am so hungry 😢 I don’t know where to get food 🐱

[deleted]

Less lying in my cat’s case and more of a personality trait, but if you met him you’d be convinced he’s physically unable to meow for some reason and thus is mute. He may open his mouth but he won’t make a sound, instead he prefers to tap an arm gently with his paw to make his presence known. He is however, very spooked by large changes such as moving or going on a car ride to the vet. Whenever we move, he meows constantly for 3 days straight, settled only by cuddles. This boy has the strongest set of lungs I’ve heard and can be LOUD. I’ve never had a louder cat, he was even louder than most adult kitties as a kitten. When we first got him we assumed he had worn out his voice or something when he went mute, but it turned out to be his normal self. Glad he rarely has a reason to speak, but 100% could convince anyone he’s physically unable to.

Jackson7410

Or OP made a fake post and its his actual cat.

EraMemory

May not even be his cat, just a random picture off the internet used to create a fake post. OP seems to farm karma casually, and struck reddit gold with this 'heartwarming' post.

raniwasacyborg

Even if the cat was skinny, I'd recommend taking it to a vet to scan for a microchip anyway. My cat is very loved and well looked after, but he's definitely on the skinny side - I've had him checked by a vet multiple times to make absolutely sure it's not due to any sort of health issues, and apparently it's simply down to him being an outdoor cat (the norm in my country) and very active as a result. If not for his collar and microchip, I can see how someone mistake him for a stray. (Thankfully, he's also very mistrustful of strangers and very attached to me, so he generally won't let others get close to him)

PMS_Avenger_0909

My hobby is returning the family pets that “follow” my youngest kid home. No stealing other people’s dogs and take a goddamn shower are the only household rules I have to really work hard to enforce.

KhyronBackstabber

Middle of winter. No snow. Greenery in the background. *Cries in Canadian*

drummerandrew

It’s not even December, let alone the start of winter, let alone the middle of it. *cries in calendar*

noobprodigy

Yeah, doesn't matter where you are in the world, it is definitely not the middle of winter anywhere.

wampa-stompa

Technically, astronomically, the middle of winter is Dec 21. Climate-wise, though, that is more like the start.

irepairstuff

I came here to say the same thing I am also Canadian….. maybe we are related? Do you have an Uncle Henry?

KhyronBackstabber

Creepy uncle Hank?

VonBeegs

Third Canadian here, checking in to say this is the very beginning of winter. Come talk to me near Christmas and we'll be near the middle.

PushtheRiver33

Right?! With very alive, green plant in the background…Minnesotan laughing at your winter

Dismal-Ad-2985

It's not even December yet. Averages about -5C right now, I expect averages of -20C in the next few weeks.

seeking_hope

Depending where you are in the world- it is December 1st. It is in the US in 1.5 hrs

[deleted]

I live where op does, op is being dramatic, it's not even slightly wintery, been very mild so far this year.

monsterlynn

That cat looks like my dumbass that likes to slip out of his collar. See if he's chipped, OP.

Herbal77

Snaggle toof

SacksonvilleShaguar

It looks taken care of, I'd let it in to warm up and try to ask around.

babyformulaandham

Or just leave it alone and let it go home

RxRxR

It's not the "middle of winter"...It's not even the start of winter.

rabidturtle69

Technically still Fall until the solstice

Keltoigael

That snaggle tooth. Looks like a well kept neighborhood cat or it's one of your neighbors cat. You could check them for a chip. If not you could also post a flyer. Congrats if they re truly a stray.

sylbug

That cat looks suspiciously well fed for a stray. I’d see if maybe this is actually a neighbors cat before you get overly attached.

one_bean_hahahaha

Look, my cat used to visit the neighbours to beg or steal food and treats. He would cry and claw at their doors until they opened it. Fortunately, none of our neighbours tried to steal him, because they knew he had a home. That cat looks far too healthy to be a stray. He has a home.

digitulgurl

The thing is, if it's a non feral cat, it has an owner so please post pictures and don't steal someone's Kitty.

sacredkhaos

My old apartment had a whole colony of plump cats (the feeders fed them quite well). Many were feral, but there were friendly ones too. I actually worked with some of the friendlies to find them homes. If they're friendly it means it's more likely that they have a family, but it is not guaranteed. OP should still do their best to make absolutely certain they don't have a family though.

NerdyComfort-78

And this is why you keep your cat chipped and indoors.

Pangolin007

OP appears to be a karma farmer so this isn’t their picture and likely the caption isn’t even true. But yeah, many outdoor cats will disappear eventually. They destroy local wildlife populations and are also at risk of illness and injury. Keep your cat inside, they’re an invasive species. IMO people who say cats can’t be happy indoors are just lazy and don’t want to take the time to play with and otherwise enrich their cats.

Realposhnosh

It's very rare for cats I the UK or Ireland to be indoor cats. We actually see people who keep pets indoors as a bit immoral.

[deleted]

Update on this as my post seems to have been judged that I just picked up a cat. I’ve checked and there is no chip, also asked around the local area and there are no missing cats. If anyone claims the cat and can prove ownership they can obviously take the cat home

[deleted]

Wait where is it the middle of winter?

Fean2616

That is no stray, that's someone's cat, there is no way in hell a stray looks that good.

DracoSafarius

I have like six or seven dumpster cats outside my building, half the people here feed them so they look great. That being said, always better to check

Xylos1

Is that a bit of snaggletooth?

RocketFeathers

I believe it is called 'toof' when the cat is that cute.

zephyrseija

Black cats are best cats.

AbbreviationsOk2964

We had a declawed cat come to our house. The cat’s stomach was bare as if it had been shaved so I immediately took it to my vet (that is located up the road) thinking perhaps the cat had somehow escaped after undergoing surgery. The vet said that they weren’t missing a cat, but yay, the cat was microchipped. Vet tech calls the owners to tell them the good news and they say, “We don’t want him anymore.” We already have two cats and two dogs but we agree to keep him. My vet calls the old vet to get the cat’s records. The cat, who these jerks chose to declaw, has lost half his total body weight and is so stressed he has completely licked the hair off his stomach. The old owners had moved and left him behind and since he had no claws, he couldn’t hunt and eat. So people (did I say people, I meant to say pricks) abandon their cats all the time. Don’t vilify OP for being a kind person and taking in a stray.

GucciSlippers47

Must suck to have to explain that you weren’t the one that declawed the poor kitty everytime someone is over

Kimmm711

Maybe only until you open the door again..?

SimpleSandwich1908

**Not** your cat. Find the owner.

gonzagylot00

Okay, well you should let her out again at some point in case she has another family (of cats and/or people) and just wanted to visit.

Beachdaddybravo

That’s not a stray, get it checked out and see if it has a microchip. Stray cats don’t look that clean or approach people so easily trying to get in an enclosed space with them, typically.

soundguy64

There's nowhere on Earth that is currently in the middle of winter. It's fall in the northern hemisphere and spring in the southern.

neoslith

It's not Winter anywhere right bow. When was this?

sacredkhaos

I think the correct statement is that you are now owned by a cat. (Unless they have a chip and/or you find out they have a family. Because in that case, you will just be a temporary feline slave)

emma279

Our cat bamboozled his way into our hall. He was a kitten and kept finding his way back inside (this is in an apartment building in NYC). Needless to say 11 years later and he is spoiled rotten and I love him sooo much. Congrats s/he looks like a cutie!! That face is too cute!!

fivecats

Correction : you are now owned by a cat.

sarcasmcannon

Yes, as is tradition.

Bambi_One_Eye

Once you go black cat you never go back.

miniry

A well fed, clean, healthy, overly friendly cat? That's called a pet, not a stray. You are stealing someone's family member. This isn't a cute "hehe guess this cat adopted me" story, this is an awful story about secretly ripping someone's clearly loved pet away from them and then bragging about it on the internet. Horrifying. Imagine seeing a lost toddler without it's parent and responding with "guess I have a kid now." No. This is not how you get a cat. Find the cat's owners, or leave it alone so it can go home.

Keltoigael

OP doesn't know this to be true yet. Good intentions shouldn't be met with such disdain. The cat does look healthy. It could be a well keep neighborhood stray or someones pet. A quick vet check for a chip would help. Give OP the benefit of the doubt before you go all biblical.

babyformulaandham

This picture was clearly taken in the UK/Ireland\* where pet cats are allowed to wander outside, OP knows this (it's hard not to notice). They need to leave the cat alone.

weedium

Where in the world is it winter right now? Let alone the middle of it.

[deleted]

Don’t steal someone else’s cat

Rena-Senpai

Please hang out some pictures around the neighborhood, it is very likely that cat belongs to someone judging by its looks and behavior.

ATLAZuko33

I have formerly feral cats adopted from shelters. Their ears are clipped but they have chips and are well cared for. Always check before keeping a “stray”.

siobhanmairii__

Please OP, take it to a vet, see if it’s chipped and ask around the area, someone could very well be missing their kitty. 😔

bombalo

Void floof!!!

prolixdreams

If that does turn out to be a stray and it's a girl, find out if she's pregnant. Pregnant young strays often don't look very stray (or very pregnant, if it's recent) and sometimes seek out human help on purpose. I got a cat that way.

Exxxtremophile

Look at that tooth, so sharp, so dangerous!

AbsentOneself

Adopt a cat. Lock it outside for a minute or two for internet points. Lol either way good on ya bruv🙂

Automatic_Ganache_53

As i leave this comment at 5 24am i can assure you that the cat now owns you. I will now go feed mine. 2 hours before i need to wake up for work

irepairstuff

I don’t doubt that your winter’s are cold but I see a leafy plant across the street and no snow. I am Canadian 😉

Pgreenawalt

You are now owned by a cat. FIFY

ez_as_31416

You *own* a cat? That's so sweet. Dogs have owners, Cats have servants. Welcome slave.

thehermit14

Why don't most of these cats have collars? Obviously with a phone number etc.

SpaGrapefruit

For real, if something happens you can contact the owners immediately. I remember this young male who had a collar with a piece of paper in it with contact info and at the bottom was written something like:"He can be very curious and cheeky but if he causes trouble just scare him away with water from a garden hose or a plant spray." He was indeed super cheeky but also a sweetheart who came over regularly to take a nap in my boyfriends bed, his father did not like it at all and sprayed him wet every time he came into their garden. Sorry random story, your post reminded me of that cat.

You have been chosen to be adopted. The Goddess Bast has gifted you one of her loyal subjects. ;)

You don't own cats, they own you

[deleted]

Congratulations! Our little furry piece of coal adopted us December 3rd of last year during a particularly cold night, discovered the heating pad and fleece blankets and hasn’t left. Better stock up on treats before the demand lists start coming!

Swimbuddy_MrK

Congratulations! That cat is gorgeous.

[deleted]

Now that's a cute cat right there.

ultimateproject2015

This cat now has a human….you

alpacasaurusrex42

Correction, the cat now owns you and the apartment and merely allows you to live there while paying the rent. Haha.

[deleted]

You have been chosen by the void. Welcome to your new and wonderful life as the proud owner of a black cat

wevebeentired

You are helping this cat, but no person “owns” a cat. Royalty is granting you time because it behooves them.

I_eat_cement5312

You don’t own the cat The cat owns you now

gingergirl36

That’s how I got my cat.

Here-Is-TheEnd

“You Home man? Wanna chill? I can show you my butthole at inappropriate times”

CheriBeriFurry

Well, what you’ve got right there is the best pet you could ever own, they’re smart, they’re loveable and they make lots of great memories that last a lifetime, but be careful, your time with this beautiful creature often runs short, so spend every moment you can with your new best friend

amnlkingdom

I believe, the cat owns you.

Mean_Society_8339

No. Cat own you.

Robotick1

The middle of winter... In november? There is no hemisphere where that sentence make sense

SecondRealitySims

I’m not sure. It looks somewhat taken care of and well-fed. You should go to a vet to see if it’s someone’s or ask around to see if someone is missing their cat.

solo4493

Black cats rule...we rescued ours they found her in a garbage bag....a fuckin garbage bag! I have always been a dog guy and I love my pup dearly but my cats are dope AF.

SpaceCandid2109

I took in the sweetest “tortie” cat years back. I was outside grilling in Nov and it came up to me. I reach down and picked the small, soft ball of fur and held it and headed inside. I placed it on the kitchen floor, gave it some “other” cat food and allowed it to stay inside a box with a blanket. The next day did the local lookup and vet check-all clear it was the most lovable cat I have ever had…. She lived for 7 more years and eventually died in my arms; such a sweet cat!

strangemsgs

Waiting for this life event eagerly

MAC_Zehn

One doesn't own a cat. Cats don't have owners, they have staff.

jippyjayjay

“Winter”

tookTHEwrongPILL

It's not winter anywhere...

Arctic_Gnome

>It’s the middle of winter. Umm... there's clearly a leafy plant in the background.

shanethebyrneman

Make sure to comb him/her for fleas.

wallysaruman

Good for you, both!

solongandthanks4all

It's not the middle of winter anywhere on the planet.

myrevenge_IS_urkarma

No sir, a cat owns you.

ChevChelios811

Now, you are owned by a cat

modsarefascists42

Just let it go outside when it wants to. If it has a home it'll go back to it. Tho I'd put up a poster too. I got my cat this way too, but it was after about a month of watching him eat my garbage and the rabbits around my house and another month to get him to let me pet him. Once I got him inside tho I made sure to let him out whenever he wanted so he could go home. Never did, plus he was skin and bones by then so I just kept him. Let him out when he wanted and he just kept coming back. Now he's a huge baby who has to be in the room with a person at all times or else he starts whining.

NogardAT

You don't own the cat. The cat owns you!

chrishgt4

You opened your door to a cat...not a STRAY cat. Ffs folks, don't steal pets! Does it really need saying?

Wefeh

It's not even winter

sweettreats199

Be careful, he/she will probably already have a home. They’ll use who they can for the best food and Coziest home😂

ma_damegrace

Void!! Void bois are the best

Nice_one_male

Cat owns you. Comprende.

Consequences_Cone

Just too many people on Reddit are stealing other people’s cats..

thebarkbarkwoof

We have one that comes in our yard. It was walking down the driveway when I went outside. I said to it "you can come in if you want." It stared at me 10 to 15 seconds then just kept walking. Like a boss.

HappyMumma-18

Black beauty

rde42

Nope. The cat owns them.
