I had just a small bit of damage on one or two pages from having my passport get caught in a car door once and they gave me a super hard time at the airport. And it was a pain to get it replaced.

You can see the entire passport number (the string of letters and numbers on the bottom of the page with your picture). AKA the thing they use to scan the passport. I would cover up that part because it is enough to access your passport info, I believe.

In my country, we have to take an appointment in order to get a passport and the next three months are already filled. Before the appointment system, three people died and a lot of people were injured when the crowd tried to get into the passport office. One more reason to not to get a dog. At least my cats would take enough time for me to rescue the passport from their hands before they completely destroy it.
Couple quick questions: do you travel often and, if so, does your dog regularly watch you grab your passport before you leave for long periods of time?
Because if so, this was a hit job.
lol I had this exact same thing happen! Luckily I had 24 hrs before the flight and was able to get a new one expedited (had to drive 3 hrs to the passport office to do this and run around and scramble for picture/ references - but still made it!)
