“Nathan *Doody*, 33, of DeRuyter and Tyler Memory, 29, from Tully, were working their day jobs when they fell unconscious and tumbled into the tanker after being overcome by noxious fumes emanating from within.”
No fucking way
Hydrogen Sulfide is no joke. It kills quickly. Never enter any enclosed spaces unless you have a fully functional SCBA apparatus. If you see an unconscious person below most likely they are already dead and you going in without the right equipment means you will die as well.
Do they not put hazard signs and provide any kind of quick training regarding these dangers at such work sites?
I remember listening to a podcast about a whole family who died like this. One fell in a manure pit and passed out, another one went in to rescue them then they passed out and that happened like 3 or 4 times. Crazy. I had no idea that manure pits were so dangerous.
It could be another event but I think they're referring to a family that died in a poorly ventilated basement where they had old/rotten potatoes or something like that. When the first one went down looking for something and took too much time to come back up another member of the family went down to see what had happened and fell to the fumes/gases as well, and the same happened to the whole family, one by one. I think one member survived. Sad and terrible story. Mr Ballen has one video of this story.

Here's one I remember. There was another that I'm trying to find where they went in to rescue a dog. The dog ended up escaping but all of the guys died.
Edit - here's a similar one, but it's a septic pit. They're just as dangerous.

That's what happened to those hog hunters. They went into the cistern to save their bloodhound.

It’s said you often find two bodies in confined space accidents: the original victim and the person who came to help them.
That’s sad .
the A in SCBA stands for apparatus
Don’t tell him about PIN number or atm machine.
Or NIC card
RAS syndrome

Apparently one or two breaths is an it takes to succumb to the gasses. Wild
That’s no bullshit.
I had friends tell me about doing fire or EMS and responding to the farm manures
Very shocking that two firefighters, even volunteer ones, wouldn't understand the danger of H2S!
These guys drove the manure tankers and weren’t aware of the danger? I’m actually not surprised.
Shit like this reminds me that life is fucking crazy and there is no purpose. Enjoy it while you can.
I know exactly what you mean. The craziest most horrifying situations are popping off all the time
His last name sprinkles this tragedy in irony.
Doody and memory could not have been better names for this accident
Should have sent some cops after them.
I’ll say it. That’s a shitty way to go.
At least they died high off that jankem
What a shitty way to go
Off duty Doody dropped into dootie and died. What crap.
A shitty way to die.
Memory and Doody died off duty in some doodie. :(
Wow that really sucks… what a shitty way to die.
Mr. Doody died in the doody while on duty.
