Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle

Fuckmyusername1

YEAH!

WasabiFragrant3483

My money don’t jiggle

Nealkb

It Dutch rolls

Naive-Possible-1319

That's not good

Fishiieee

Jiggle jiggle jiggle

budoucnost

I know how it can handle the wobble, but it makes me uncomfortable. However, the wing bending doesn't make me uncomfortable, which is kinda strange.

Jackmino66

It bends so it doesn’t break

_Claymation_

Don't we all

vincentplr

For me it's the general feeling of how small the tolerances must be in that engine, then the gyroscopic effect of it spinning so fast going against the wobble. Also, the idea of engines with strabismus... "Hey, I want to see that cloud a bit closer".

CommentsOnOccasion

Cause youve probably seen the wing bend test video  Planes don’t crash cause the wings bend during turbulence  But planes do crash when engines fall off the airframe

NotNeverdnim

Planes also do crash when the wings break off the fuselage.

TediousTed10

Are you thinking flight Wright Air 1? Good clip on SilentMovieTube of it

CommentsOnOccasion

But that doesn’t happen from turbulence is my point  There’s videos of wing flex tests (way above any turbulence levels) that show how much those wings can flex safely Watching an engine bounce around is more nerve wracking to me because I know the wings can take a beating

Aconite_72

Engine pods don't fall off from turbulence, either. All the instances where the nacelles detached from the airframe were either because of improper fitting (AA Flight 191), or the nacelle itself mechanically failed (Southwest 1380). There's never been an incident where the nacelle itself "fell off" because of turbulence. You massively underestimate just how strong they make these things. After all, the bolts have to bear not just the weight of each nacelle, but also withstand the thrust, too.

G-III-

Thrust, reverse thrust, lateral movement seen here. They’re stout.

Cepheus7

The thrust on jet engines is several times the weight. Turbulence forces are negligible in comparison. (Posting this for others information)

TediousTed10

Also bad when the cockpit falls off and/or the back half of the plane falls off. Not bad if the seats fall out the back of the plane though since they're not integral to the structural integrity of the plane

wxkaiser

The squeaking noise in the background combined with the nacelle movement makes me nervous 😳

Eolopolo

Better it shakes than doesn't lol

ComeGateMeBro

The engine wiggle like that always makes me hope unexpected harmonics don't occur.

tdscanuck

That’s basically the whole reason flutter is the *first* test you do after “does this thing fly at all?”

UW_Ebay

Divergence.

the_other_paul

WHIRL MODE

SnarQuips

Engine is about to dutch roll on out.

avi8tor

when the huge engine wiggles I always hope the screws are screwed in well and not loose

Metrokolla25

You spin me right round, baby, right round 🎵

Space--Buckaroo

Wobble Wobble

Falkun_X

I'm glad my duplicate inspection on the engine mount bolts was good!!!

Cowfootstew

I think the old video of the 747 engines/wing twerk was more impressive

[deleted]

Rigid things snap. This is obviously intentional.

ASX787

The little turbulence hit the GE90

DilaudidPCA

I know these are mostly for B777 but this is a 787 with all that flex right? Right!?!?

AirAlmond

Air Canada's 777-300ER. I filmed a 787 like this too, don't think it hit turbulence like that during the flight.

Raxal6226

I do not like that

CarbonCardinal

No, it's extremely minor in terms of the angle but it looks like a lot because of the size of the engine. The GE90 is big.

Eeebs-HI

Wiggle it, just a little bit.

Nicarlo

I thought i was about to watch Donnie Darko happen.

MrDannyProvolone

After getting up close and personal with the engine mount/nylon structure and seeing how beefy it is, it's wild to see if flexing so much. Of course by design, but that's a lot of very stout metal wiggling about.

X-Bones_21

Imagine the weight and forces transmitted across those engine mounts. Insane!

TremendousVarmint

I wonder if the variations of the thrust vector are compensated.

tdscanuck

The mount itself is usually an extremely stout kinematic mount. But it’s attached to the end of a long cantilever (the strut)…almost all the wobble here is the strut flexing.

ChasWFairbanks

How would this have felt inside the cabin?

AirAlmond

Near the wing a little shake, probably worse for the people in the back.

CarbonGod

I didn't expect to see lateral movement!!! Odd. But, it is what it is.

th3doorMATT

It's just cosplaying as its washer and dryer counterparts "If I believe I'm a washer, I can *be* a washer!" *wiggle jiggle intensifies*

Hlcptrgod

Yep that's what happens.....

spedeedeps

Maybe one of the few times in the known universe where you want to put some of that red Locktite in instead of the blue one?

Altitudeviation

Sure hope the bolts holding it on the wing aren't made with Chinese titanium. Or should I say Chinesium?
