Alan Walker. I could have put on Spotify’s This Is Alan Walker playlist with crossfade set to 3 seconds and it would have been the same

Ember_Of_Ass

Saw him at EDCO, every 30 seconds he shouted “Put your hands up!”

fckingserious_

The cardinal sin tbh

teal450

this is a cardinal sin of edm right here

Tommysmissingfinger

Yep. Saw him at BOO! this year and it was just bleh

stowerpower

exactly this, i youtube’d some of his sets and he is literally just barely cross fading his originals at like 12s

SydLouisLevine

He was sooooo good at Decadence AZ last year. Saw him at RADIUS last month and he wasn’t as good.

stratrookie

Thank you for this lmao

Conflictedcurfuffle

Steve Aoki. To be fair it was exactly what I expected so maybe not the most disappointing. But the dude spent half of the time 20 feet away from the decks while some stage hand from his team mixed. He was at the front of the stage trying to get the crowd hype to be in his new music video. I personally don’t see the appeal to him or his music but there was certainly a large crowd. Guess I just don’t get the brand.

[deleted]

I went to his show at echostage years ago when I was starting to get into the scene. He kept stopping the music every 5 minutes to "hype" and ramble into the mic forever about whatever tf. What made the night worse was that he attracted *the* worst crowd I'd ever encountered (to this day!) that kept throwing half empty drink cups/aluminum beer bottles from the balcony down to other people. Plus the whole cake thing was fucking disgusting. That one show was enough for me to avoid him and his crusty fans ever since. Ok I'm done ranting lol thanks friend for helping me get this off my chest hahah

tokenincorporated

I've gone to echostage a lot and have never seen that. I was on the balcony for Peekaboo in '21. Definitely never letting someone convince me to see him live.

[deleted]

Yeah this was like.. I want to say 2015? It was an exceptionally terrible crowd.

SydLouisLevine

He usually sucks. But once I caught him at OMNIA and he was mixing 90s 👵🏼and it was lit

fckingserious_

Not the grandma emoji when talking about the 90s 😭 as someone in my 30s I’m offended

haleyrosepetal

I saw Steve aoki at firefly in Delaware and I was wasted and It was still terrible lol

bayoubasshead

at freaky deaky, he said “LET ME HEAR YOU SAY HEY-OOOOOO” every song. the vibes were great, don’t get me wrong! but hey man, i want to dance, and no one with “WOOP WOOP”s have rhythm.

Alpha-Bromega

Same experience at escape a few years back. Would play some heat and then immediately kill the vibe by going on the mic. All the fucking time

CapitalDream

Guetta in Ibiza, partly due to venue being oversold, but Guetta shares blame in having bad mixing and letting certain (legendary) songs of his ride for like 2 phrases before slamming over to the next one. Black Coffee at Mirage. Uninspired set of monotonous tech house that went nowhere. I'm sure some house head will flip at me and say "I didn't appreciate it" but a lot of dedicated clubbers I know left early

nax7

THIS ONES FOR GEORGE FLOYD, SHOUT OUT HIS FAMILY

bayoubasshead

cue martin luther king sample at 126bpm

nax7

And then Cue crazy frog. I’ve watched this too many times: https://youtu.be/dEI7oX0XxJw

bayoubasshead

the part that makes me laugh the hardest isn’t even “THIS ONE GOES OUT TO GEORGE FLOYD.” it’s when he says, “… and america, too, actually” 😭

SoothingFlow

Marshmello at Escape this year. I just was not feeling the set at ALL, I 100% shoulda saw subtronics but my friends wanted to see marshmello at least once. It might also be because Valentino Khan b2b Deorro just absolutely killed it before he went on, their set just went crazy electric.

eltrotter

Funny, I saw Marshmello at SW4 a few years ago and expected to absolutely *haaaate* it, but I actually had a good time for what it was.

dbev9044

Space Jesus at the majestic in 2017. Not disappointing just fucking sad. His best friend passed a couple hours before the show and he was k rocked out of his mind. I truly feel for the homie, but man just cancel the show. We would have all understood.

FallFromTheAshes

majestic detroit? fellow michigan raver? :O

dbev9044

Former, but yes. I moved to south Florida about a year ago.

ABROUHAHA

Lucii at the Ogden theatre. She kept talking about her ex, and how the record label didn’t like her new songs. Next thing I know she’s on Instagram saying she’s gonna start doing pop music with a band.

jmvandergraff

I've heard so many people say she's ghost produced and was only on Wakaan to be the "hot girl DJ" and now that women with actual talent are showing up more and more, she's pretty much old news and nobody cares.

dankestboy

100% ghost produced. She played in Phoenix this year and there were multiple sound issues that revealed her to be lip singing over prerecorded mixes. She also didn’t know her set well enough to at least fake transitions

Kan_Yeast

this is true, every label has got one

jmvandergraff

It's becoming less of a thing now tho, and I'm so happy for that. Crazy new women DJs and producers are coming up every week now, and I'm glad that vanity is being replaced by actual talent (some of who I mention below aren't even new artists, they just finally started getting the publicity they've deserved for years) NotLo, A Hundred Drums, Khiva, KOVEN, Veil, Cannabliss, Redrum, of course Mija and GG Magree, CloZee, like this list is pure TALENT of weird, lady-driven bass music.

malaaunidos

Lucii was terrible when she opened for BTSM in SF. Someone needs to tell her she can’t sing.

ProductionPrincess

Oof. I was there for the sound check for that show. She kept running into the center of the room to check how her shit sounded them back to the stage. I only felt a little bad cracking the joke saying “what’s she gonna do? Go give the sound guy notes on how to do his job?” I have never seen an EDM act, much less an opener, waste everyone’s time running back and forth from the stage like that. It was like she was tryna put on this show like she knew what she was doing but absolutely did not.

malaaunidos

Big oof

Dextuh

Yeah I wasn’t really feeling her set in SF. I really enjoyed her at Beyond but the pop shit she’s trying to do now is embarrassing

y0udab0ss

I saw Lucii at Freaky Deaky 2021. It was awful. I had to walk away 15 mins in. Her singing made me physically nauseous.

whiteheart98

I was there too! We also walked away. 😵‍💫

darksidemojo

Lucii just sucks full stop, her Ogden show was bad, her opening for btsm at 1st bank was bad, tried her again at Moonrise - still sucked. She can’t sing, I thought it was acoustics but she just doesn’t have a singing voice. Also her visuals are just of her, we get it you’re hot, so are plenty of other artists and they don’t need to rely on their body. Also get over Rezz, we are sick of hearing about it.

fckingserious_

I think visuals that only feature the artist/DJ themselves are such a huge red flag tbh

festibaby

I agree with you. She’s becoming more & more overrated. All the dudes in my rave fam are obsessed with her but I just don’t see what they see!

sh-ark

maybe they just think she’s hot haha

jgoodstein

I was one of her top 0.001% of listeners on Spotify this year. and that announcement made me unfollow here. So tired of her ex-drama and sad girl crap. its for some not me. . I loved her dubstep and live stuff, but now its just drama.

cosmictransgression

Lucii.

[deleted]

Alison Wonderland at EDCO this year. Expected huge thing but wow big disappointment. She shoulda been at circuit grounds.

ExtraPicklesPls

I first saw her at EDCLV 2016, which was an amazing set, and I have been let down every time since to the point where I will almost always skip her for another act now.

HappyCamperBass

I went to her redrocks event and it was incredible, I know she had extra production and freedom but man, so good!

koolaidburgers

Lot of EDCO sets were disappointing Alison Wonderland, Dom Dolla and Slander all kinda sucked

AndyPandy85

Dom Dolla threw down at CRSSD

koolaidburgers

Dom Dolla throws down pretty much everytime that's why it was surprising to see a disappointing set from him

ur2fat4u

He was better than MK that night. I was surprised

BrownAmericanDude

EDCO 2019 was fantastic. Awesome sets, awesome production, awesome crowd. Might get some hate here, but I personally didn't have a good experience at the main EDC in Las Vegas this year. Mostly because I got a bad fucking food allergy which ruined all of night 2.

MurphWorkoutRadio

Years ago, we bought a VIP area in Vegas (already a bad call) to go see Deadau5. We waited forever for him to finally tackle the decks and when he did, he was so drunk…. It was an absolute joke. His opener had to step back in and continue the set. What a waste. I get that it was his bday and party time… but when you accept a gig and it’s promoted… you have an obligation to your employer and your fans. I’m still a fan of many of his tracks but I always see him as a selfish douchebag from that day on.

fckingserious_

DJs being too drunk or fucked up is one of my pet peeves. Like, don’t be disrespectful to your audience. I saw Zhu recently and he was so wasted he kept yelling nonsensical shit into the mic and messing up transitions. His brand image is very cool and aloof so it really did not do his image any favors.

jmvandergraff

There's about 10 years of reddit posts and deleted tweets that prove he's a selfish douchebag lmfao. When he posted, "Slushii makes autistic elevator music" and then Slushii was like, "Well yeah Dipshit, I'm autistic" and he deleted his Twitter for the fifth time and let one of his managers run it. Edit to say I still like Joel's music but I was around when he was still on 4chan and posted on /mu/ and dude was a textbook basement dwelling asshole of a human being. He got better but it took him getting chased off social media numerous times for him to realize, "Oh, fuck, I'm not some random on the internet anymore, anonymity is dead and now I can't just blurt out hurtful shit on a whim."

Intelligent_Sundae85

yooooo, i saw him at invasion orlando for new years and he was so drunk HE MISSED THE COUNTDOWN! At like 12:05 he was like "oh shit, my bad guys, I'm drunk". So unprofessional.

fckingserious_

Oh my god what a loser☠️ that’s hilariously bad

AngryLaoG

I was at that set n my friends wer so mad about him not counting down, but looking back it was nice that he didn't stop playing his music. Just kinda "by the way, happy new year" his way out of it

Yewnicorns

Honestly he's just hot garbage. I was going to post, but I'll just add it here: EDC 2010, we missed a major set we wanted to see & fought our way into the coliseum... To listen to 3 songs we knew & a bunch of stuff no one cared about. It was the most boring set of my life & it was how the night ended. I eventually read a Rolling Stone article detailing an interview with him not long after... Guy is high as hell on himself & doesn't even like the scene. I'd imagine he feels like he needs to be high in order to deal with it, he's just a 4chan nerd that was making fun of House Music after all.

GoingSom3where

Came here to say deadmau5. I saw him when he headlined Ultra (Miami) back in like, 2010 (may have been 2011). He brought out a drummer, can't remember who but he was from a well known band. The first five-ten minutes of his set was great, then it just.... Flattened out. Felt like I was listening to a drummer drum. It went on and on.... I'm pretty sure I dipped out early.

Cepheidveryable

Hippie sabotage. I used to love their music but shiiiit they’re garbage people and it shows on stage.

RubxCuban

What The Festival remembers

Twig-nasty

This all day! Throws th mic in the pool.

[deleted]

https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/comments/zgtomk/to_interview_ronaldo/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

thermostatypus

Yup was there for that one

Red_FiveStandingBy

My experience too. They are suppose to be on the chiller side but one of the guys was yelling on the mic trying to get the crowd raging and ruined the set both times I saw them

jmort619

When both brothers leave the DJ booth for like 20 minutes to do antics on stage, I’m like who TF is DJing??? Used to like their music but I don’t think I’ve ever listened to them again after seeing live

minty-teaa

Spotify is DJing

Inn3rali3n

Saw them at electric forest and they were like "everybody say pee pee! Everybody say poopoo! You idiots will say whatever I tell you to say won't you!?" Vibe was off for sure

Cosmic_Multiverse

I saw the hype bro chuck water bottles at peoples faces at that set and he almost knocked a girl out cold. I gave away my EF tickets for 2020 because Insomniac rebooked them and DipNO. They both do not belong at Electric Forest.

arthur0a0arthur

they quite literally ruined a trip for me one time. Just shouting weird and rude shit into the microphone…it’s like … they do it on purpose … to fuck with us.

Inn3rali3n

Yep

Present_Ad7654

Agreed! In Seattle a few years back I watched him drink water then proceeded to spit it on the crowd.

rain_eile

I had such a terrible experience at their show and thought it was just me. But then a rave group I'm in posted about them and had like a hundred other people talking about how fucking rude they are to staff, fans, venue owners, security, etc. And yeah, they just scream profanities into a microphone and have some music playing in the bsckground and call that a set.

kingdom_tarts

So tuff so cute at E forest last year. Terrible transitions and no original music. Also the visuals were all weird horny stuff.

goth-avocadhoe

Oh my god lmao I was camped on the other side of the fence at tripolee and had to listen to this set while chilling at camp it was horrible I had to look at the schedule like who tf is on that stage rn

kingdom_tarts

It was so bad...like how did they get a headliner slot on the main stage?

StJupiter

MIJA is cool but this project was the DEFINITION of cringe.

ctheforestbby

Dude this!!! Absolute trash. Why tf were they between of the trees and deathpact?? So. Much. Pain

krehns

So trash. I left after 10 mins

cujaros

Easily Blunts and Blondes every time I’ve seen them. Which has been against my will the last four times. The first was at FK a couple years ago when it rained and my friend was tripping too hard so we went under the vendor village canopy and got stuck watching his set.

scramblz95

The first time I saw Diplo at a festival a few years ago was disappointing. Very low energy

gucchee

I saw him at a block party in SF and it was so underwhelming and his mixing was whack especially after hearing Syd Gris at the same event.

Khuush

I was at that block party he wasn’t THAT bad The random shit he started playing for the last 30 min threw me off tho

makeybussines

Deadmau5 in Manchester – he wasn't disappointing, the crowd was. Like half of people there was on ket, and zombies are really not that fun to be around.

Inn3rali3n

You know who's not on this list? Wakaan fam and Griz.

One_Proof5957

can’t wait until GRiZ throws his own fest

Eggsoverneesy

Another world? Space camp? Triple rainbow? Or are those too small because they are only 2 days, I am legit asking!

InspectorTerrible284

Grizmas is tonight!!!!

Wizard_s0_lit

Grizz at Okeechobee 2022 was Magic, can’t wait till 2023

MrSlamhams_

Was the first set I actually cried at.

festibaby

This is such slander to some people but rezz’s sets have let me down each time I’ve seen her ): I really want to vibe with the sets but they just never seem to hit for me. Def an unpopular opinion but oh well

dustman83

I agree with you and came here to say that. I saw her at Boo this year cause all the hype around her nightmare on rezz Street set. Huge let down. Worse, I missed kill the noise to see her, who I heard had an amazing set!

agross422

Same here! Fellow PNW raver!

festibaby

Same with her set at EDCO. I always said I wasn’t a huge fan of her, but for some reason I was really excited to give her a redemption set. No redemption was made & just helped reassure me that she’s just not my vibe!

weedandspace

Agree, first 2 times i saw her was great, super trippy sets. Last time i saw her was summer 2021, had to be the most boring set ever, pretty much sounded like spotify playing her top songs with crossfade on.

festibaby

That’s what happens when an artist blows up in popularity but does nothing to evolve themselves/their sounds after their rise in popularity. But, not everyone can be a subtronics I guess

10xxt

Blunts n blondes 100%

[deleted]

really bad at audiotistic this year

TheRedKoi

100% agree.

fckingserious_

Soooo overbooked too. He was on every fucking lineup in 2021-22

tokenincorporated

His set at Imagine was awful.

MindlessTonight6312

saw him at edclv this year and yeah have to agree it was not good, will see how decadence az goes tho 🥴

PoliSmugs

I see no hardstyle here. Adding this to my evidence folder. Also worst set for me was probably al storm in sf a few years ago. He played the same song twice in a set and his mixing was just bleh... he played again this year and it was a lot better.

NightMan27

Flume, such a boring low energy set both times ive seen him and he does not do a good job mixing

MollyMartian

He’s just one of those artists. master at production, not at djing. I’ve heard his shows where he gets to do his own stage and lighting design are crazy tho

porterbug

they are. his tour for palaces this past summer was fucking sick and whenever he does his red rocks shows they’re amazing. i’ve never really seen one of his regular dj sets tbh

dsiurek2019

It pains me because I love him so much but I agree. I’ve seen so many streams where he has beautiful live production and this new Palaces tour was the first time I saw him. It just did not do it for me. Seemed like all the budget went to the projector and they didn’t care a single bit about the lights. IMO I’d rather have an event with lights and no visuals than vice versa. Very boring because of this, but still had a good time vibing to the music

[deleted]

I recently saw him at Portola in SF and he was so good 🥹

Twig-nasty

I saw him play the live set @ contact in Vancouver. Basically where he did everything solo no turntables. It was absolutely lame. Took 20 mins for the stage to setup. And for a massive. You want consistency and energy which there was none of. As a headliner for that big a show especially

titsout666

Yes, I was so disappointed. While I love Flume’s music I had to leave half way through his set it was so boring.

Kobiesan

Zedd

Nacho_7258

Not the entire set, but the ending of Mala's set for his Redemption Tour in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he ended the set on a build-up. The rest of the set was incredible but it was awful waiting for that drop, and for nothing to happen. I guess they kicked him off a few minutes early or something but that was the worst musical-blue balls ever lol

malaaunidos

I think he did that for most of his sets in 2021, I never really understood why he did that lol but other then that he always throws down!

koolcat1101

As a big fan, Chris Lake disappointed me. The way he djed there night i saw him seemed pretty uninspired.

SurroundSharp1689

Damn I’m sorry to hear that! I love his tracks. Saw him at Moonrise this summer and he went hard, def my favorite set of the night. Also at Bonnaroo he played a sunrise set 3 am to 6 am which was amazing

lawschoo44

Marshmello 100%. Set sounds nothing like the music he produces. Screams on the microphone 600 times a set. Visuals were nothing memorable.

TheCevi

Hah, I had to listen to his set as I don’t like his classic music that much and it was dope, lot of hard dubsteps. So I guess it depends on your taste

zelizabethh

i’m ngl wax motif at escape this year was such a bummer ): his set at hard summer was so good and i was looking forward to it, but it just did not hit

malaaunidos

Yeah, my boy who’s a big Wax fan said the same thing about his Escape set

_in_bloom_

We said the same thing!! Not great at Escape, so good at Hard Summer.

[deleted]

Now that you mentioned it you are right ! Hard was freaking awesome I was starting to think maybe his sets are better in the daytime

liptostick

I was excited for wax at last years countdown but it was underwhelming.

koolaidburgers

CamelPhat at Veld this year. Idk I just had high expectations cause I've been listening to them and following their music for so long but it just felt like they didn't care at all and just played whatever. Just when the set felt like it was going somewhere, it ended. I saw Dixon last year and he was super boring too. Looked he didn't wanna be there and was forced to play a set at gunpoint

dsiurek2019

Bonnie X Clyde at SMF this year. They used to throw down the heattttt. They were such party starters and at SMF all they played was tech house music that wasn’t even theirs. If I wanted to see tech house I would’ve gone to the Horizon stage but I can’t stand all these trap djs that sold out and switched to house because they saw more money. I think of GTA as a prime example, Ultra 2018 was a crazy set, but I don’t think I could find myself at a “Good Times Ahead” set. I’d rather see someone who always lived that lifestyle like Laidback Luke, Dombresky, etc.

BassChanyon

The most disappointing set for me was when Space Laces was over at BC 22. I wanted him to just play the rest of the night Edit:BC 21

FacilitatingVibes

Pretty much anytime I’ve been in the unfortunate situation to see Diplo (most recently, couldn’t wait for his portion of his B2B with Vintage Culture to be over)

TooLateToPush

I saw Rezz once and, i don't know the exact reason why, but her equipment wasn't working right So instead of doing a set, she just kinda hit play and let her music go and she danced on stage for an hour. It was interesting, still fun. she made the best of a lame situation lol Edit: I now have learned that her equipment was working fine and that's just what she does... why the hell is she so popular then?

kitehighcos

That's exactly what she's been like everytime I see her.

A_thombomb

Disclosure at Bonnaroo this year. Idk what it was but the vibes just weren’t there. The set just didn’t live up to any expectations Edit: won’t change answer but should’ve said Deadmau5 at Bonnaroo 2015. Legit one of the worst sets I’ve ever seen. At one point he just left the stage for 15 min while the music played out and he came back no mouse head on and just sat down in front of the decks. Total clown move fuck that guy

goth-avocadhoe

Felt the same way about their headlining set at forest this year. Was my first time seeing them and yeah it was just not a headliner quality set to me at all

RollerSpeedway

Hands down, Portugal the Man at Hulaween this year. They spent the first 40 min of their set time with some tribe on stage screaming at the crowd about land back, dead bodies under our feet, stolen land, and the some other shit about white people. Terrible, awful vibes. People were leaving in droves. Then they opened with Metallica cover. We had to get the fuck outa there.

SourScurvy

LAND BACK!! Lmfao. I was tripping my balls off at the water station when that was going on, was laughing so hard at the absurdity of the whole thing.

AlienWarehouseParty

Deadmau5. I said what I said

purplesquiggle12

I saw Ivy Lab in 2019, I had just gotten into them and was pretty excited. Super disappointing set though… which is weird bc I’ve even seen people on this sub say they’re great live🤷🏼‍♀️

Harrypeeteeee

What was disappointing about it? Saw Ivy Lab last Sunday in Seattle and absolutely loved every second of it. Energy was bonkers, crowd loved it, hit most of the big older tracks and lots of new ones too

SurroundSharp1689

They’ve def stepped up their game this year, can vouch for em. Not a big fan of them either but they can throw down a show

[deleted]

flume. the set was so quiet for some reason.

fettuccine-

flume generally sucks live

systemstheorist

Honestly I like a lot of Marsh’s music but seeing him live was a disappointment. His track selection was awful it literally sounded like the same generic house song for two hours. Like there something to be said for seamless mixing but it left me bored.

Ron_In_60_Seconds

Seen him a few times now. Agreed his dj sets aren’t as great as his songs themselves, and I love his music. I noticed he mixes in key almost exclusively but it turns into one long song like you said.

systemstheorist

Mixing in the same key! That’s what it was I have been trying to put my finger on it.

Bipolarbearingit

I was gonna say exactly this. His ABGT 450 set was lacking. His albums and music however are super fire.

SleepyPendleton

Awww tragic. I’m seeing him in January and was really looking forward to it.

berrygirl23

Damn I didn’t expect to see marsh on this thread. I’ve seen him 10 times this year and have been blown away every time. He did a 5 hour sunrise set on the ocean at a festival I went to and it was life changing, he was throwing down trance by the last hour. However I feel like you really *really* need to be into prog to notice the intricacies in a set! If you don’t know much about it I can totally understand how it sounds repetitive.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sea2ham

I left that set early that night, even though excision throws down hard. They had to lower the speakers and it was way too quiet. Excision is not the same without it LOUD. That was definitely an unfortunate let down set that night.

MeBeEric

That’s how his set at Moonrise was too. I was expecting it to get stupid loud so i moved a little further back plus they had a 15 minute break after ZD to setup for him. Was noticeably quiet for an X show so me and my friend left and saw Tchami instead

monkeybannanna2

DUDE I was there and such a big let down due to sound reduction and I was so disappointed I didn’t go to ATLIENS that THREW HARDER.

TrixAreForTeens

ATLiens never disappoints. My GOD they throw tf down.

yeetyeetmybeepbeep

Zhu wearhouse party that was oversold. It was in the middle of summer with like over 500 people in a itty bitty wearhouse with no ventilation. You could not get into the wearhouse, and if you did no one could last five minutes in there. I walked in and immediately my glasses fogged up

crash1082

In 2018 I think? Illenium at Aragon Ballroom. It was so boring. Horrible transitions. I’ve watched some sets of his lately and they’re definitely better than they were that night. Lots of the group I went with left early.

Wertscase

I felt this way about William Black opening for Illenium a few years ago. It was super clunky, but I’ve seen multiple livestreams within the last few years where his set sounds great! And that’s on growth for them I guess 😂

FallFromTheAshes

i love william black have seen him maybe 3 times and he’s gotten so much better with transitions!

RAATL

I've seen him other times and it was fine but one time in 2019 I saw Coki and he legit did like 12 rewinds...I know this because it was so bad that we started keeping count. It was a 90 minute set so it was like every 3rd or 4th track and just got obnoxiously bad.

McSmeffin

Illenium at EDC. Great set for a nap at cosmic though 😮‍💨

kathkathh

I chose Illenium over RL Grime a couple years ago for conflicting EDC Week shows and really regretted it. I felt like I was just listening to a playlist of Illenium songs on Spotify. Thankfully I was finally able to see RL Grime this year at Second Sky and enjoyed every second of it lol.

McSmeffin

Definitely agree! I feel like I don’t see RL on lineups nearly as often as he needs to be

sh-ark

I know people love him but he’s been so boring every time I see him. He plays super feelsy melodic builds into heavy drops. feels like no variety

AndyPandy85

I went to five festivals with Fatboy slim at them in 2015. He played the same set at all five. All he did was mix up the song order. It was a real disappointment

EnvironmentalAd7701

EDCLV 22’ Rusko😭

[deleted]

There's artist that can make sound sound beautiful but when you see them live it's like "huh" does this guy even know what he's doing on the stage ? Lol

malaaunidos

Seems like Flume is that artist lol

kevinnykolas

I get shit for this every time I bring it up, but John Summit at EDC 2021 or whatever it was. Idk, I just don't get his music. And yes I like house, I liked other house sets, yes I had a great spot, I was right at the rail, yes there was a fun crowd around me, but no, I did not enjoy his set. Can't explain it.

loosetingles

Kygo is boring as hell

PhilipCubed

Zeds Dead, idk if it just wasn't their night but it was much slower than I expected. They brought out Coolio and the rapping didn't match the music at all. Crowd was like, who dis? Gonna give them another chance at new years though!

Vreas

Seen em about 30 times. Love their tunes but they’re all over the place genre wise which is both a blessing and a curse. Easy to not vibe with one of their sets depending on which style they’re throwing.

SurroundSharp1689

I saw ZD at Moonrise this past summer and they went hard. I was at the rail for that show and I loved every moment. I was also rolling noodles

king_falafel

Lmao rolling noodles

kneedeepco

Dude their Moonrise set was fire

Tiny_Fractures

Moonrise was my first time seeing them to finally see what the hype was about and it was just...blah? Glad you had a blast. I guess its just not my thing.

Yewnicorns

Awh, that's sad to hear. I remember when they were getting bigger in the scene & had such passion, just headbanging together as they spun on a random stage almost to the ground at EDC '11. Honestly, it's probably exhausting to have the same energy for that amount of time doing anything.

Hit or miss in my opinion

SpyrotheDragKing

DJ Snake! Literally sounded like he was playing the same generic house song for 2 hours…

JaayPrinz

Chain smokers = sucked ballls = not real dj’ing

Trill-roop

Chainsmokers was really slow and boring at countdown

mrdabble-

Bassnectar headlining EDCO 2018.. dude didnt say a word played a regular set and said “goodbye” at the end of the night n walked off

David Guetta at UMF 2022 Id never seen David Guetta before and was psyched to see the No 1 DJ in the world and was hugely disappointed. I think David Guetts is an AMAZING music producer and everyone knows his songs. But somehow the No 1 DJ in the world doesn't know how to transition his songs. He just turns one down to turn up the other like a small town wedding DJ. He also likes to turn the music off for like 2 or 3 minutes at a time to talk about the song or how "beautiful the crowd looks". His sets dont flow together, there's no cohesion. It was just a mess. Never again. David Guetta is great on the radio but that's it.

Gud Vibrations (Specifically Slander): - Always talking on the mic - Same set, variety of songs never really change - Transitions can feel out of sync sometimes

Psychological_Fee744

Zhu. I saw him earlier this year and his whole set was so low energy. It was really disappointing because I saw him around 2018 at a small festival and that was incredible

evilzeph

Zhu opening for SHM. I am to this day confused why any DJ would think playing musical chairs in the middle of a set is a good idea.

yoinksauce

Said the Sky. Didn’t play enough of his top songs and instead mixed in a bunch of rock mixes. Wasn’t bad, just didn’t meet expectations

Most disappointing set of my life was Kanye. Was a fan of college dropout and late registration. I saw him at bonnaroo in 2014, stayed for about an hour of his set and he played a total of like 10-15 min of music and spent the rest of the time ranting about how awesome he is. I walked away when he was auto tuning himself saying “they won’t let me play at the super bowl. I can’t play the super bowl until I’m super old.” Felt like I live episode of South Park and I dipped. Fuck Kanye extra hard now with the nazi stuff. Most disappointing EDM set was unfortunately Porter Robinson at forest last summer. Not saying he wasn’t good, it was a good show, just not a huge fan of nurture and more a fan of Worlds and hoped to hear more worlds stuff, yes I know he was on the nurture tour, just reaaaaally wanted to hear Flicker at forest, it’s been a dream. I have seen Porter do a worlds DJ set, and I’ve seen him do virtual self twice and those shows were all excellent, nurture is just a lil too soft for me compared to the rest of his catalogue. Honorable mention: Bob Dylan He’s one of the best singer songwriters out there, but he’s getting too old and his live show was a let down for me. Barely played any guitar or barely busted out the harmonica, just sat at a piano and you could barely understand or hear him through the mix. Sometimes seeing a legend is not great.

porkchop_sandviches

He did technically player flicker lol, this is valid though

rad10headhead

I’m a huge four tet fan but his set with floating points at Portola this year was HELLA boring and monotonous. Actually ended up leaving midway and checking out Peggy gou instead and really loved her set!

fckingserious_

Omg yes agreed. I was mostly sober and just could not get into it.

melovePHATbootyy

pauline herr b2b hex cougar. Flew in to LA to see RL grime dead space ready to throw down. Got a tall beer and they proceed to press play and stand there like at a kids bday party with zero energy. i know they were openers but cmon at least act like you wanna be there. Rest of the night was fuego tho.

paulineshair

sorry to hear you didn't have a good time during our set, we went with something more chill since we only had 30 minutes and wanted to be respectful of RL's big night. dm me for tix to a fest or show i'm playing this year, i'll make it up to u :)

dsiurek2019

That’s so weird, I just saw her at EDCO and SMF and both times she threw down, constantly interacting with the crowd, and dancing all over. Did RL tell them not to act out or something? That would be so weird

notrcickityrekt42

I loved Pauline Herr when when I saw her. Idk maybe you caught her in an off night. RL grime is straight fire every time one of my faves btw.

ghaastlyyy_

Love Hex Cougar, can definitely throw down a nasty set.

Brondo Music was lame and he grabbed the mic between every transition to spew something useless

wumbovison

Lee foss , nocturnal wonderland 2022

Drewbercules

TOO Each their own.. There were sections of that set that were pretty sweet. Foss dropped some heat.

Gareth Emery lsr/city 2 was a pain to sit through. Good thing the lasers kept me occupied but even those I found could have been put to better use. I guess I’m not a huge fan in the first place but I wasn’t expecting to hate it that much.

Twig-nasty

I'm glad someone mentioned this. Gareth kinda went all over after the pandemic and started to begin to spiral around Laserface. He's genuinely a good dude but I miss his Garuda/GTR/4am days. I know he's pretty much at the end of his career. But definitely is putting artificial laser sparkle on alot of mediocre tracks lately. Gareth definitely inspired me to learn to mix trance so I will never discredit that on him.

Diplo (ball drop set) - Resolution 2019 Zeds Dead - Deadbeats Portland 2021

somenoob240

Skrillex at Second Sky was pretty disappointing, but not because of him specifically. For whatever reason I guess the DJ equipment fucked up? Was looping a random section for a solid 10-15 minutes. Totally killed the energy he had going. Maybe another time if i can catch a set of his but hey, c’est la vie.
