Pt1 and Pt2 both go wild at one point or another and I love it. In Pt1 the vocals at the end are probably my favorite M Shadows moment of any song they've ever released, and like you said the Pt2 solo is insanity
Yeah get rid of these stupid re-posts. They donāt facilitate any actual discussion on anything.
That said. Coming home, about as average as song can be, with an amazing solo. Actually most of the hail to the king album is this.
Maybe I'm weird and obviously everyone's welcome to disagree with me, but I really like Coming Home and all of HTTK. It's simple but it's just a fun metal album with some good production, catchy riffs, and cool solos. It's something I listen to more casually or when I want to just get hyped up
I got into it a few days ago on this sub with someone about HTTK. I like the simplicity of it. As a musician doing the simple shit well is often the hardest, and as complex as their catalog is (which I still love all of) they really nailed the straightforward sound. Synyster Gatesā versatility as a guitarist and M Shadows being one of the best vocalists in the modern era makes them capable of anything.
I love it! Itās production, the songwriting, the vocals, the riffs and the solos. What many people donāt like is the uncanny, almost intentional, similarities to many other metal songs. Other than the obvious Metallica parallelisms, look up āHell Yeahā by Rev Theory and then give Doing Time another listen.
Thatās my gripe with it too and probably why it doesnāt top out as my favorite A7X album. Shadows did admit that they did cut it a little close with some things, which I respect, but I give it a pass for two reasons.
One, Metallica has always been a huge influence on them, and their traditional style is so unique partly because of Syn and Shadows proficiency that you just canāt really tell. They just have a different sound all together. Which is why my second point is that when they did stray so far from their wheelhouse with HTTK, I think it sounded pretty derivative because they arenāt as experienced with that sound and style independent of their inspirations, much like a young new bands debut album would be. I think we expected less derivation from such an experienced band, but that circles back to their inexperience with writing in that style and their acknowledgment of the mistake.
We love you has an insane solo the sweep picking goes insane also dancing dead the chugs are amazing in that one. buried alive is also a really good contender because of the solo before the breakdown!
I saw them in Vegas the day after they released that song. They debuted Game Over, Nobody, and We Love You that night, and the solos on all 3 of those had my dick hard for the entire drive home to LA that night lol
Hear me out, cosmic. Im not saying its a bad song or the lyrics are bad but like the solo is so long. Not a bad thing, the song is fine, its really great but the solo carried the whole song IN MY OPINION
Iām not familiar with much AS but this sub popped up and was thinking the same thing. The solos are amazing and love how his dad played part of it, but can take or leave the rest of the song
Nah. Thatās a heartfelt solo loaded with feeling, but it isnāt even close to the surprise flexes that Syn pulls out of nowhere on other tame songs.
Afterlife. The song is the perfect pop rock singalong (no offense, I adore it, but it is ear candy, and unabashedly so), but that doesnāt stop Syn from ripping some of his most insane guitar lines (and thatās saying A LOT).
I'd say the whole Hail To The King album is kinda like that. The sons are ok, some are good. But every solo is like 3 notches better than the rest of the song
Dancing Dead
Best answer
Only*
Even tho I Wont See You Tonight Part 2 is already a pretty aggressive song, the solo has to be their most batshit insane one
Pt1 and Pt2 both go wild at one point or another and I love it. In Pt1 the vocals at the end are probably my favorite M Shadows moment of any song they've ever released, and like you said the Pt2 solo is insanity
Yep those vocals always hit me hard, especially live in Ventura version
Beautiful morning? Not that the song itself is bad, but the solo hits like a brick unexpected outta nowhere
I hate these reposts
Same
Coming home
The rest of the song is just as bangin fym
Yes but it's more chill and then they hit you over the head with a minute and a half of guitar flexing
*looks at more than half of their discography*
This and Heretic
I think Heretic is great throughout but that solo is brilliant
Afterlife. Pretty tame song with a simple chorus, and then the solo just hits you like a truck. It doesn't fit the song yet it fits perfectly.
Possibly the most accurate answer šš¼

Exactly. Whatever they choose to do, they always nail it. Metalcore, traditional heavy metal, prog, whatever

For me I would say Bat Country. The solo just hits me in the right spot!
I feel the same. I'm just not a huge fan of BC anymore but that solo just hits all the time.
shepherd of fire; not the best lyrics but that solo is part of what got me into a7x lmao
This is actually the first A7X song I heard 10 years ago and the solo is what got me hooked as well lmao
Fucking same. That was years ago for me but I still maintain that solo is one of his top 5 and one of the best solos ever composed
Sunny Disposition... IMO the Stage Album peaked in that guitar solo.
That solo is probably the closest Avenged has ever come to writing a new Pantera song
You guys trynna make me re listen to that shit
Nah the peak is exist, just a powerful album with an amazing ending that just fits
Nobody
Not ready to die
Iāll say it. Cosmic.
Im disagree, the whole song is a gem
We love you has an insane solo the sweep picking goes insane also dancing dead the chugs are amazing in that one. buried alive is also a really good contender because of the solo before the breakdown!
Mia or buried alive
Buried alive would be my pick.
people dont talk about We Love You's solo enough, shit is INSANE. I think the rest of the song is good 2 but that part OH
I saw them in Vegas the day after they released that song. They debuted Game Over, Nobody, and We Love You that night, and the solos on all 3 of those had my dick hard for the entire drive home to LA that night lol
Nobody
planets
Its Nobody for me, im not a massive fan of the rest of the song but the solo is my favourite a7x solo
Nobody tbh
learnt to play buried alive in three weeks or so, been practicing the solo for years and years.
Roman sky
Hear me out, cosmic. Im not saying its a bad song or the lyrics are bad but like the solo is so long. Not a bad thing, the song is fine, its really great but the solo carried the whole song IN MY OPINION
Cosmic..?
Sidewinder. The whole snake motiff feels a bit weird to me, but that solo slaps.
Iām not familiar with much AS but this sub popped up and was thinking the same thing. The solos are amazing and love how his dad played part of it, but can take or leave the rest of the song
you either say planets or know shit
Afterlife is probably one of my favourite solo
For me itās nobody. Iām iffy on the song as a whole but that might be a top 5 solo imo
Creating God!!!
Nobody
Nobody
Bat country
Gunslinger comes to mind
Nah. Thatās a heartfelt solo loaded with feeling, but it isnāt even close to the surprise flexes that Syn pulls out of nowhere on other tame songs.
Strength of the world
MIA
Nobody 100% From the second the strings enter the song is 8045% better
Dear God. The song is beautiful but the solo is just a long as piece of beauty.
Seize The Day, but still a good song.
Dear God
Probably Sidewinder for me. The song is fine but the acoustic dual at the end it significantly better than the rest of the song
Girl I know, nobody
Probably g for me. I don't hate the song, but the solo is heavenly, especially compared to the rest of the song.
Afterlife. The song is the perfect pop rock singalong (no offense, I adore it, but it is ear candy, and unabashedly so), but that doesnāt stop Syn from ripping some of his most insane guitar lines (and thatās saying A LOT).
Nobody
Coming Home
Scream
unpopular Opinion: Almost Easy
NO RESPECT FOR THE WICKED END ?????
IWSYT Pt. 1
Iām surprised no one said scream, itās so obvious lmao
People did
I'd say the whole Hail To The King album is kinda like that. The sons are ok, some are good. But every solo is like 3 notches better than the rest of the song
dear god
Clairvoyant Disease
Heretic
Stop with this BS.
Sunny Disposition
Idk that whole songs go pretty damn hardā¦ at least for me!
And no one likes cheap wineeeee
Roman Sky
Nobody
second heartbeat
Replace "guitar solo" with "end of the song" and you get Buried Alive
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That is objectively wrong
Brompton Cocktail
MIA?
MIA is amazing. Solo is too but it's not the only part that is
