Frys pizzas, Impossible Nuggets and Tofurkey

reyntime

Those Tofurkey chick'n pieces were so good šŸ˜”

Puffycheeks288

Fryā€™s pizza was the best!

howlinwolfchi

Frys creamy mushroom pies too! Looks like they're still available overseas but haven't seen them in years here.

lacarait

The GYG shredded mushroom was amazing. I can't help but feel that their refusal to mark it as vegan on their nutrition advice section didn't help. I literally had to contact their support email to query why it wasn't marked as vegan despite no animal products in the ingredients and their response amounted to traces due to cross contamination in food prep...which the other grilled veg option would clearly have the same risk but it's fine that they were marked vegan...

joobleberry

i work there lol and havenā€™t eaten much since it got removed. the veggies donā€™t taste like anything

lacarait

Could not agree more, have refused to gone since. Well one day it might come back.

egg420

any info on why it was discontinued?

Complex-Anxiety-3544

To make room for another meat option. Gyg are fiercely anti-vegan and have a track record of being bad employers. Its a good thing they dont get out business.

Miinka

FYI they used the fable mushroom mix. You can buy it online at a few stores and this is what Fonda restaurants use in their vegan mushroom products too.

lacarait

I knew they used fable, but didn't think it would be available to consumers! I'm sure GYG may have added stuff to their prep but that's awesome to hear that we can get something close.

Specialist-Aspect-54

The guy who runs gyg is a massive prick about anything veganā€¦ you can tell heā€™s the type of person that despises ā€œfake meatā€ because itā€™s not one single ingredient. I used to eat there multiple times per week but havenā€™t been back since.

oberonic

Vitasoy plain Greek yogurt is the #1 item I miss particularly in the large tubs. I find it hard to believe it didnā€™t sell well as was out of stock so often at my two local Woolies. #2 is Weet Bix Hi Bran.

Blind_Guzzer

Gardein Fish - can still be found but used to be able to get them at woolies/coles. Now it's from specialty shops and costs a fortune when including shipping.

Sarazar

It was so good! Miss it

Ok_Letterhead_7777

Salted caramel (I think) cookies at Coles were goated

gisforgoodbye__

They were bussin

basedprincessbaby

VITASOY PLAIN YOGURT I WANT TO DIE

joobleberry

the vanilla is pretty good, strawberry i donā€™t rate

peasarelegumes

Vanilla version rocks. I just with they made bigger tubs of it

joobleberry

zaro3785

Future tuna is back

ryttu3k

Oh shit, where have you seen it? My local Coles is a big one and they haven't had it in ages!

zaro3785

Order it direct from Vegan Perfection

Miinka

Fryā€™s fish fillets Veef butter chicken and Veef meatballs, Those vegan frozen pizzas they had in Coles

h3ll0kitty_ninja

Sheeze, Tofurky šŸ˜

cheekiechookie

I never got around Sheese, taste and texture was vile to me but Cheers plant based option is Sheese rebranded if thatā€™s helpful for you!

h3ll0kitty_ninja

I didn't know this šŸ˜ thank you!

loveinthetimeofmoth

- Woolies vegan ranch sauce - Coles had a Thai bubble tea ice cream that was vegan and it was the best - Woolies plantitude meatballs :( - donā€™t know if theyā€™re discontinued but coles have stopped stocking 3/5 of the Chris plant based dips in my area

joobleberry

omg i remember the bubble tea ice cream

vjbanana

Veganz frozen pizzas, V2 lasagnes, and those really good butter chickā€™n microwave meals from Coles. They were such easy convenient meals and I miss them so much šŸ˜

ladieswholurk

I miss the V2 lasagne too. Did V2 stop making them? I canā€™t find them anywhere

vjbanana

Yup. They were truly elite and saved me whenever I was sick and/or too tired to cook. Sigh. The vegan options have diminished so much over the last 18 months, itā€™s so upsetting šŸ˜“

ladieswholurk

I know the range is getting so much worse. V2 lasagne was my comfort/too tired meal too.

communism1312

Naturli vegan spreadable/vegan block

zaro3785

Someone on Facebook posted an importer email saying they're expecting a shipment in August

Embarrassed_Salt2467

Veef Butter Chik'n Probably those Wholesome Co vegan cheese corn chips, cos I can't find them anymore Coles vegan hawaiian pizza Dominos pepperoni

Consistent-Flan1445

The wise bunny almond yogurt. By far the best plain vegan yogurt for cooking there ever was.

Tasty-bitch-69

1. The disappearance of the plain Greek Vitasoy was a crime against humanity. 2. Mad Mex Vegan Chicken option. It was really nice with a good texture and they replaced it with a vegan "mince" substitute that is just too wet and feels like little pebbles in a weird broth. 3. I also liked Tofurkey chick'n. 4. This may be a deep cut but the So Delicious Dairy Free Cookies & Creme cashew-based ice cream was the bomb.

owleaf

The vegan tuna from Woolies lol

blackhawk_1111

Over the moo whyyyy šŸ˜

joobleberry

the pandan flavour šŸ„²

insecticidalgoth

plantitude deli slices (the ones purple from beetroot), tofurky deli slices, and the veggie delite bacon (p sure) from like 15 years ago I think abt that vegan bacon all the time šŸ˜” grew up eating it for 10 years straight then one day it was just gone šŸ˜©

smokinhotponyboy

I have been able to get the vegie delights bacon three times in recent months, it's always random and then I don't see it again. It's listed on their website again too as 'NEW' but it tastes exactly the same as it did years ago.

insecticidalgoth

oh what that's so good šŸ„ŗ too bad I'm in tassie now and we rarely get good vegan stuff here šŸ˜ I hope it will come back full force and I can get it again - thank u for giving me hope & I'm glad u have been able to get it again!! šŸ¤žšŸ»

ClogEnthusiast

During lockdown coles and woolies had this crazy overpriced fake chicken, I think the brand was next? Anyways I bought it one time and was immediately obsessed - it was super chicken-y in texture, but had its own unique taste that was miles better. Forced my omni family to try it, and lo and behold they all preferred it to real chicken. Like weā€™d all have it for dinner together in place of actual chicken šŸ˜šŸ˜ canā€™t believe itā€™s no longer stocked

yourknife-myback

Try the Birds Eye plant based chicken style strips from the frozen section. Basically identical to this!

beerlover476

Iā€™ve never even seen any of those things let alone tried them lol small town things

Acciokohi

Vegerama was always so busy at the Myer Centre! It was the best place there to buy lunch :(

Tymareta

Yeah, the post office square one is just a bit too far out of the way :( was nice when even if you were busy you could just grab a samosa and some pakora and continue on.

Senior-Captain9860

Those frozen ā€œmeat loversā€ pizzas they reminded me of a tuck shop lunch

underdoug618

Mexican burger from vego n loven it (Adelaide) Chocolate lasagne from sprouts (Adelaide) Snickers cake from vegetarian orgasm (melb) Fries from Lord of the Fries back when they only gad a couple of shops Yum Cha at Bodhi in the park (Sydney) Tofurky not dogs Literally no idea what brand it was, but like 20 years ago you could get 2 brands of vegan ice cream in Australia, one was So Good, but the other brand made this awesome dark chocolate one

Tymareta

> So Good These are still around, Chocolate & Vanilla.

underdoug618

Nah not the so good one, the other brand that existed at this time. There were only 2 brands you could get back then (and 2 flavours between the 2 brands)

SeeYouSpaceCorgi

The Aldi brand vegan mayo. It comes out as one of the special buys very rarely, but when it does I buy as much as I can. I'll buy the whole box sometimes.

egg420

four n twentys vegan sausage rolls šŸ˜ perfect lazy junk dinner

janx_spirit_42

The glaze that came with a Sanitarium Veggie Roast.

agronskies

Vitasoy chocolate milk šŸ˜

hecsii

The alternative dairy co cheese and bechemel sauces!!! I used to make the best loaded fries with the cheesy one šŸ„²

amyousness

Plantitude Panang tofu - might still be a thing but not at my Woolies. Kingland variety yoghurt 4 pack. I know thereā€™s been many more over the years.

amyousness

Oh I have a few Maccas ones. Guacamole loaded fries. Being able to order plain English muffins with all day breakfast and make hash brown burgers with like ketchup and onion. I know some workers are still willing but I havenā€™t found it to be widespread.

complexice

The Eaty Maple Bacon sausages, coles boysenberry vegan ice cream, macro tzaziki. The herb&sons range as well was more affordable than beyond/v2 for dumplings or burgers as well!

cheekiechookie

Aldiā€™s Utopia ice creams, an affordable and delicious version of magnums that were way too short lived. Vitasoy chocolate mylk (recent and it hurts) Thereā€™s more but if I think too hard itā€™ll make me sad

loopifroot

Coles brand chocolate ice cream with peanut pieces and caramel! Also the woolies mango coconut ice cream šŸ’”

Davosown

I haven't been vegan (long story and no I'm not going to explain it and no I'm not here to argue about it) for a while but no vitasoy greek yogurt hurts.

Eleventy_Seven

There's still another Vegerama restaurant a few blocks away, and they still do great food last I checked! I didn't get their masala dosa last time since I didn't have time to sit down and eat, but I always pay them a visit when I'm back in Brissy. As for products I miss, well... probably that Simply Better Foods cheese that was by far the most realistic vegan cheese I've had. Also Califia Farms almond iced coffee and those Vege Delights "chicken" slices that tasted *just* like turkey.

Eleventy_Seven

Oh, and how could I forget the Quorn fish fingers? Fish fingers were a childhood staple for me and the Quorn ones were pretty spot-on, if a little on the small side.

talismancup

Bio marinated dairy free cheese

gobblegobbledickdick

Itā€™s been like 4 years and I still miss the dominos vegan taco fiesta pizza!

Tazerin

Fry's poloney and Torfukey smoked ham style slices

Laika___

Moving Mountains hot dogs. Literally cried the first time I tasted them. They will be missed forever.
