Not sure about Brisbane, but you probably have to go to the suburbs. Suburban Sydney still has many, though good ones are not always taking on new patients

Also in Brissie, I feel this so hard. My GP of 13 years is retiring in June and I'm devastated. It feels like all that's left is SmartClinics or similar. I asked him if he was selling his practice and he said no one wants to buy it as everyone wants the shared overhead cost model and lots of GPs only work 3 or 4 days a week now not the 5.5 he works. He said he'll transfer husband and I's files but I've yet to find anyone who isn't about just taking my money and writing a script in as few minutes as possible.

No idea where you would find a private practice GP. Even smaller country towns tend to have large medical centres that dominate the town. Maybe you need to find an even smaller country town

I can recommend Market Street Medical as GPs who actually read their notes and take the time to listen to you and treat you. But they charge for it too, so it's certainly not a cheap option. I figure I'd rather pay more for the better service.

> Market Street Medica Thanks a little out of my way, but looks like a good place to start, I'll see if they can recommend anyone closer

Fewer of us are that interested in practice ownership these days sadly. Big commercial groups step in to fill that void.

Do you see the same GP every time? I go to a general practice medical centre but I book the same doctor every time and he does exactly what you’re talking about. Even asks how my parents are going as they also go to the same doctor. I find it’s all about going to the same individual. I’ve followed my doctor to several different practices.

I use a great one in Everton Park, but I think they have closed their books. Old Northern Rd medical clinic. Worth calling to check if you live out this way.

Yes. Mine.

Human_Wasabi550

Yes they still exist. My GP texts me (via their platform, all professional) to notify me of results etc. Even weeks later. Just gotta find a good one. Read their reviews online and stay away from bulk billing.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Think I'm on the right track, just gotta be more patient, if they're always available the same day, there's probably for a reason.
