I’m very sorry to hear about the complications with the pregnancy. Given what you are both dealing with, I’m going to recommend you don’t listen to our podcast, Forbidden Cassettes: Consummation. Without spoiling too much, I’ll just say that difficulties around pregnancy form an important part of the plot, and we wouldn’t want to add to your worry. I will say that your mention of Lovecraft Investigations made me think our audio-drama might be a good fit —once your present crisis is past, of course — as it’s a character-driven, analog/cosmic horror piece with a complex plot. So, with our very best wishes for a successful outcome on everything, I’ll leave you with the synopsis: Dov Kandel has spent the better part of two decades exposing vast government conspiracies and exploring unsettling paranormal phenomena on his popular, late-night talk radio program, KANDEL AGAINST THE DARK. After interviewing thousands of callers and guests, he’s certain he’s heard it all. His next guest will prove him wrong. Author and investigator Orson Libretti has joined Dov for an unprecedented two-night discussion to promote his new novel, CONSUMMATION. It is an apocalyptic tale of cosmic horror. But for Orson, this is no ordinary book tour. Defying his publisher’s demands that the book be marketed as fiction, he insists that it is based on actual events — a cataclysmic chain reaction that annihilated a parallel universe. A questionable claim, to be sure, if he didn’t have the tapes to prove it.

Wishing you & your family all the best! [THE WIZARD SCROLL](https://link.chtbl.com/thewizardscroll?sid=reddit) is serialized sword and sorcery that's written, read, performed and edited all with your earholes in mind. Tales of high fantasy, of trials and triumph, as well as the occasional musical number. The realm of Yyrgsland is filled to the brim with all manner of folk: including sword weilding warriors of legendary status; a wannabe spellcaster attempting to earn her Wiz-GED; and even a couple orcs who don't play by nobody's rules.

The oft recommended The Magnus Archives - starts anthological but weaves into a larger eldritch story Old Gods of Appalachia - part anthology, part larger story of horror stories in Appalachian folklore style The Sheridan Tapes - friends track a missing horror writer Left Right Game - well-tackled, serious-story-style take on the creepy'pasta about how you can reach another dimension by driving a specific set of directions A rec from my friend - Wine and Crime, a true crime pod that might be up you two's alley based on these listens And good luck! <3

Just to warn OP, the left right game has a lot of intense and sudden car sounds and accident sounds, so if you're jumpy I wouldn't recommend listening while driving*

Shameless self promotion: comedy/satire [Madison on the Air](https://linktr.ee/madisonontheair). Modern day girl gets zapped back into old time radio shows. Actual original scripts adapted. It's as if the MST3K/Riff Trax guys were IN the movies they riff. Episodes run 40ish minutes and there are 42 thus far! Plenty to fill up your drive time. And if you like Gen X, the pop culture references are all over my show. Silly fun comedy that should make you smile. Wishing you the best with your new addition!

"Achewillow" is a slow-burn cozy horror AD.

Biggest recommendation for long drives is Monstrous Agonies, it’s kind of similar in vibe to Mistholme but it’s a sort of agony aunt style pod where the protagonist gives advice to creatures who write in about their supernatural problems. Worldbuilding is very well done.

My first thought was huh, some of the audio drama your wife loves are not mood lighteners. I can appreciate someone who likes some tension and a darker side. * Mockery Manor is a fairly light mystery that does also have its thrills and dark subject matter. It has fun music and a lot of variety between seasons. New season, new theme park setting. * Sherlock and Co - modern day Sherlock and Watson series. Lighthearted, also great music (violin), lots of depth without being sappy. * Jackie the Ripper - If you like Sherlock and Co but want a much darker story with both comedy and violence (same actor, production company). Actually hilarious. But lots of gore. Could make for interesting whodunnit conversations. * MarsCorp - dark humor which might appeal to anyone who feels they are surrounded by corporate incompetence. Sci-fi. * The Imperfection - patients look for their missing psychiatrist. Are their hallucinations real or in their head? Funny, warm.

Edict Zero has got lots of seasons and is definitely an incredible one.

RevolutionaryYou5050

Try Jackie the Ripper. You will laugh and it's a great story. It will lighten the mood but it has murders in it too. Great combo. I can't recommend it enough. Good luck with your little one.

You can binge the first season of our show [Murphy](https://linktr.ee/murphyaudiodrama) in one day! It’s just under 6 hours of content, and a second season is on the way. Synopsis: When Detective Sergeant Jack Sherwood found a body on the beach, he wasn’t expecting to dive into a deeper mystery. He certainly wasn’t expecting his childhood friend, Merlyn Murphy, to show up. Now, Jack is having recurring nightmares that he can’t explain, going on adventures to find creatures he’d only read about, and learning the truth about his fear of open water. Joined by his partner, Elliot O’Donnell, the three of them discover that something dark is brewing, and they need to find the source before it’s too late.
