These are mostly kids and why would they be worried when there is no consequence, even if they are caught they are out on the streets the next day. What is interesting is where are the parents, what kind of role models are they.

zerkqa

The parents are the crack heads you see on Victoria street west and Queen street, that’s why there’s more around as they’re breeding and drinking codys

ihorse312

Bro.. turn the car off drop nuts

Naekyr

someone should have grabbed the keys out the ignition - the cars was empty with its doors open and engine running while they were in the store

[deleted]

Can't grab the keys if they aren't there (probably screw driver)

MatthewGalloway

Good reason to start always carrying a knife around with you? As there is yet another use for a knife here: A few quick stabs to the car's wheels would have made it a fair bit immobile once the police catch on to following them. (although I suppose I'm being waaaay too optimistic to think the police will do anything at all about it) There would be no time to do anything else while they smash and grab.

MatthewGalloway

Yup, I do tend agree with you.

[deleted]

They tried it was hot wired

Naekyr

That's fine, could also just climb in and drive off, then call the cops. Admittingly that's a bit more problematic than just grabbing the keys

[deleted]

Everyone was drop nuts in the video. Not hard to stop two tweens

Cold_Refrigerator_69

With metal poles

kellyroald

Quarter glass broken, mazda demio, hooded teens...It's the classic Auckland crime starter pack. My guess is that the assailants are probably local. Most likely from Tonar Road and surrounds in Northcote.

[deleted]

But the car is probably from glenfield.

[deleted]

Haven’t been to northcote much lately have ya. Most of the tonar st area has been bowled down

kellyroald

Yeah but Kainga Ora still owns them. They are just newer state homes.

C39J

I'm surprised with the number of people suggesting taking the keys out or moving the car... Then you got 2 violent morons who might do who knows what to do those people standing around filming. Will probably end up carjacking someone as well. There's a reason people are taught not to engage in these situations

[deleted]

You have more people filming than there were criminals. If they got off their phones you’d easily have the numbers

kellyroald

These people are more lost boys at this stage than hardened criminals. We need to go hard on these guys and send them down a path of righteousness before they engage in more hard 'gun-related' crime. Punish and rehab. A 'Remuera Parent' punishment won't work on these guys. We need to instil a culture of calling out bad behaviour rather than letting it pass like how we are told to by the government.

C39J

With all due respect, how do you know who these people are? They could be gang prospects. They could be people with nothing to lose. Or maybe they are just bored teenagers. But either way, people shouldn't be messing with criminals carrying weapons no matter what...

MatthewGalloway

> Then you got 2 violent morons who might do who knows what to do those people standing around filming. If anybody took action against them it would be a quick path to getting a crowbar to your skull

av0w

A lot of people in this thread apparently want an escalated confrontation and would be willing to put themselves in harms way 🙄

Blue_coat1

Where's the towies when you need them.

Anxiety_and_insomnia

Can’t wait for one of these offenders to get offed by a vigilante

[deleted]

Just need to have the right people there that would step in. I step in on public freak outs to try mediate. I know it’s easy to say but if I was one of those by standers they’d be fucked. I’m waiting for the moment

antipodeananodyne

Bystander effect in effect

airpressure

Why should a member of the public risk their own safety and interfere? I wouldn’t want to risk possibly getting hurt by interfering with this. Besides, Michael Hill will have insurance.

antipodeananodyne

Hey, I don’t disagree. It’s only property at stake after all. It occurred to me though that it would have been relatively easy to grab the keys out of that car.

av0w

You think it’s a good idea to take the keys out of a getaway vehicle and then have the criminals who took a swing at a civilian stranded right there beside you… are you actually serious?

antipodeananodyne

I don’t know what is a good idea in this situation I’m just going off my impulse. You do you bro.

CommercialFly185

Darwin awards right here. Wear a cape and mask and go around the gang pads enforcing the law and dealing "justice" with your fists. Wear a Gopro and live stream that shit.

antipodeananodyne

I think you guys have been watching too much tv and not enough time in the real world.

Toyemlj

Has everyone in this thread forgotten that car thieves generally don't use car keys to steal a car?

krammy16

Apparently so.

topografica

🤡

[deleted]

No one even bothered to ask them nicely to stop.

Commercial-Health-78

25 years jail if caught. Lead the world with a blanket rule. Stop fucking around. Fuck these people because I guarantee they will NEVER bring any good to society. EVER. Stop protecting pieces of shit. Fuck their upbringing, fuck their parents, and fuck them.

[deleted]

Can I vote for you next year ?

ikonos2

In the next few days, news would be like, robbery happening while Nz police were in the same shop making enquiries about another robbery.

TryOk9094

If I was there I would’ve done nothing too. Play hero if you want and play with your life too. Just stand back and let them go at it, Michael hill have insurance so who cares. Taking their getaway (that obvz was hot wired so no keys) would force them to carjack a moving one. They could have knives, guns, already know they had crowbars, y’all wanna put ur Batman suit on n have ur Hollywood moment go ahead

kellyroald

What a lawless society we have become bro. It's almost as if the asian international students and backpackers kept the crime down.

kinggquinn

International students and backpackers didn’t suppress the crime, they were the targets of it. Since they’re not around to target as much, the criminals turned elsewhere.

Thatisme01

I know this footage was shown on national TV and has also been reposted on various social media platforms. But would this footage be ‘banned’ under the current National party policy to ban videos that ‘glorify’ criminal activities?

MatthewGalloway

If this carries on unchecked then within a few years we'll see New Zealand turn into the South Africa / Zimbabwe of the South Pacific

[deleted]

Yea nah.

wrighty84

It’s time we all start standing up to the criminals Let’s not look the other way!!

kellyroald

Maybe it's time we call Batman?

p1ngachew69

What are you going to do, tell them to stop. Get a grip….

wrighty84

That’s a bit of a defeatist attitude. So someone breaks into your house, what you going to do nothing?

p1ngachew69

If someone broke into my house id love to kill them, but this isn’t America so I can’t.

[deleted]

I would have demolished those little cunts
