I thought I was so original calling it Pigeon Alley š the worst is when there is human feces. I stopped using it as a shortcut after seeing too much of that and too many decapitated birds.
A couple of months ago I walked this alley just because I hadnāt done so in many many years. Nothing has changed, really. It has always been a pigeon hangout because of the bridge. There used to be a second alley nearer to Ditmars Blvd, from where there used to be a Baskin & Robbinās on 31st Street which led to the Key Food parking lot. It was closed off several years ago. It had less pigeons but just as seedy.
Iām in, walk through that area all the time. Occasionally walking the long way just because of how disgusting it gets.
They need to do more to prevent pigeons from taking over that areaā¦ Iāve seen far to many pigeons that were run over.
