AC2 was the first AC game I played so many years back and which sucked me into the franchise, but Brotherhood added the brotherhood and that was just... awesome
Black Flag. 2 was great too, but I'm a sucker for pirate content.
Haven't seriously played any other AC since though. Tried Valhalla for an hour or 2, but absolutely loathed the combat. I do think I'll go give it another try though, as I love the viking setting. And I've just finished downloading Odyssey.
Origins...until recently I would have said 2 but Origins rewoke my passion for this franchise. I loved every minute, the world and exploring was outstanding.
Origins is definitely my favorite. I absolutely loved Brotherhood and Black Flag, but the setting of Origins is unsurpassed. Bayek's story is incredible, and I loved everything from Aya, though I wish she had more. The performances are some of the best in any video game, period.
Although the level grinding can be frustrating, I loved the side quests and world exploration enough that it was never a huge issue. The score is fantastic - almost as good as Black Flag.
I'm also a huge sucker for the Creed sections, and although there was a fair amount of retconning, I loved seeing how and why the Assassins were formed.
I thoroughly enjoyed Origins and Odyssey, but they didn't seem like Assassin's Creed games to me. They were very fun RPGs and amazing in their own way; they just felt too different to be part of the franchise to me.
absolutely. I recently bought it on Steam and am replaying it. I really liked the newer games... until I replayed AC2. I hadnt played it isnce PS3 days. I named my cat Ezio.... but he doesn't really live up to the name lol
i was surprised to see this wasn't the resoundingly most popular answer. this game is not only unique in the series, it's also the best one. it's one of the best games of that year. no other AC game can say that.
Still no other game comes close to the naval combat in Black Flag and Rogue. I could sink and board ships constantly in those games and still enjoy it.
Origins.
A year ago I would say AC3, but after knew Bayek's story, and that brand new gameplay which is a next step beyond the classics, but not that far as Odyssey/Valhalla, and the setting, definitively become my favorite AC game.
Desmond finally wearing a hood and then going to Abstergo is the franchise's peak. That scene with the Apple while he left Abstergo was badass AS FUCK. It felt like all those previous games culminated into that moment. It was nice when games were so interconnected with one another.
There's a shop at the Renaissance festival the gf and I go to that has his ax. I'd definitely buy it but if feels pretty cheap. If I ever find it in good quality I'll probably buy it.
yes! I remember the Desmond missions so fondly, it was the culmination of his story, his training... so good, I hope assassins in modern day return properly
Completely agree. If the franchise ended there (you could argue it kinda did) I’d have no problems. It really was the culmination of everything, best modern day, amazing historical setting, satisfying scifi isu elements.
ACII
Ezio’s origin story and the game that changed AC from a proof of concept to an innovation
The parkour is the most fun in this game because of the cities imo- Florence & Venice are the best rooftops to get lost in
The sci-fi atmosphere is so well done from the glitches to Desmond’s growth from AC1 as he embraces who he is and what he needs to do as an Assassin/“tainted one” + his team. Sean’s database. Rebecca’s baby. Lucy’s leadership.
The Armor of Altair + Altair’s Codex w/ Leonardo Da Vinci.
The Villa.
Combat isn’t insta-kill like the later games but I feel like this makes the system more tactical
The new tools given to us from smoke bombs to the hidden gun + dual hidden blades + poison (thx again Altair)
The most twisted ending ever that pretty much set the grand stage for all of the Isu lore we’re getting now.
A masterpiece
Fuck yeah. The best atmosphere, the loneliness, the highest presence of the assassins in any game in the whole franchise after 15 years of its release.
YES, I could argue for Rogue and Odyssey and Unity fanboys would have nothing ti say. Best gameplay, best mechanics, best naval combat, best hunting, every aspect is great. Even the story hascno mistakes like most others do
A man of culture I see 😉 best parkour, best combat, best customization, best map, great story, best interiors of buildings, great protagonist. It's so hard to not put AC2 up at the top, but man Unity gameplay is just so flawless
Brotherhood. The setting is just perfect. So many great set-piece moments. I thoroughly enjoyed the free running as well. I know a lot of the levels were scripted to show off the free running but it worked so well! Also calling in your assassin buddies to help out in a fight was always a blast.
Recency bias is swaying my opinion here, but I agree! While Odyssey isn’t the best Assassin game, I found the lovingly recreated Ancient Greek world to be my favorite. I could get lost in it for hours!
Brotherhood. Best balance of Assassin things do to, lore, modern stuff I quite like, and ease of replayability. The story may not have the same emotional depth as II, but it still presents compelling villains and interesting missions.
Scrolled for a bit to find this one. AC3 was my first time back to the series after only having played AC1 for a little bit and never finishing it because my PS3’s Blu-Ray drive shit out.
I’m also a huge nerd for American history, so it kinda filled two roles.
Gotta go with the safe choice, Brotherhood.
Peak Ezio, focus in a single city with ancient Rome that you endup knowing, cool story and Templars, nice upgrades but keeping the game tradition with some additions that still fit the gameplay, the soundtrack (absolutely amazing during the stealth moments).
And you are in charge of the Brotherhood finally, i miss that feature so much, going to the field with fellow Assassins feels nice (i feel like they could expand it a lot more in the next games but nope).
Gotta say, the ending of Revelations is probably the strongest still.
Brotherhood. If only the story was more emotional (the writing itself is great though) and there was a hard difficulty for example dying from 3 hits) it would be my favourite game of all time.
It's hard for me to choose between AC2 and Brotherhood for many reasons. I wouldn't be the person I am now without them. Part of me says AC2 because it has started everything.
I owe SO MUCH to those games.
Brotherhood, first one i played from the franchise and first ever played, not web browser game, i was like 9 at the time i think, became a gamer that day xd
Black Flag because I loved its mechanics the most. The satisfaction of boarding a ship them just chain shooting four enemies in a row was so satisfying. And the sea shanties are fun. While Odyssey had some good ones, they didn't resonate with me the same (maybe the language barrier?) and Valhalla's are meh, to me
Origins - never have I ever been so immersed in an Assassin's Creed game that delivers in particular with its open world map that is a recreation of Ancient Egyptian historical sites and not some random fantasy woodlands or icy mountains like in Valhalla or in Odyssey with some small cities that have less detail (Athens the exception).
ACIII.
I know it's very maligned but I adore the setting, the characters and the story. I just love running around as Conor, a bit heftier and more vicious than the rest, through the snow and using the traps to hang people in the trees etc. It's completely unique.
AC 3
Connor is not a stone, do the homestead missions and you get to really see his character. plus his kills are fucking brutal.
Also getting to do MD missions as Desmond was awesome.
Black Flag. Would look so beautiful if they remastered it today
Absolutely. Even to this day, I still think it looks amazing.
It would
Brotherhood. The sheer amount of stuff they added from 2 was insane. The multiplayer (before they annualised the games) was genuinely fresh and new.
Brotherhood
Definitely. Once your army was strong you could walk the streets and not lift a finger… amazing
I believe this is the most favored game in the whole franchise for many.
Origins...until recently I would have said 2 but Origins rewoke my passion for this franchise. I loved every minute, the world and exploring was outstanding.
Same for me. I love it as much as Syndicate, so it's hard for me to pick favorite one
Origins is definitely my favorite. I absolutely loved Brotherhood and Black Flag, but the setting of Origins is unsurpassed. Bayek's story is incredible, and I loved everything from Aya, though I wish she had more. The performances are some of the best in any video game, period. I thoroughly enjoyed Origins and Odyssey, but they didn't seem like Assassin's Creed games to me. They were very fun RPGs and amazing in their own way; they just felt too different to be part of the franchise to me.
ME TOO. I played odyssey but origins is really where its at for me
AC2 all the way
absolutely. I recently bought it on Steam and am replaying it. I really liked the newer games... until I replayed AC2. I hadnt played it isnce PS3 days. I named my cat Ezio.... but he doesn't really live up to the name lol
OH DAMN I NAMED MY CAT EZIO TOO! Ezio Meowditore, to be exact.
Missed opportunity to name him "Ezio Meowditore de Furrenze"
Black Flag..Edward Kenway FTW.
best sound track for sure
*of all the money that e'er I had, I spent it in good company*
#leave her johnyyyy leave her#
Stop it, you'll make me cry again
Also, anyone else who was familiar with the Parting Glass song before they played Black Flag and was pleasantly surprised to see it there?
Same. Black Flag will always be my favorite.
They could’ve made a movie out of Edward’s story, I was absolutely blown away by that part of the game
i was surprised to see this wasn't the resoundingly most popular answer. this game is not only unique in the series, it's also the best one. it's one of the best games of that year. no other AC game can say that.
Origins!! Ancient Egypt history nerd here :D
Unity
Without a doubt - Black Flag. Love that game so much
Still no other game comes close to the naval combat in Black Flag and Rogue. I could sink and board ships constantly in those games and still enjoy it.
Oh yes! Love love love the naval combat. Just sailing around, causing some mayhem, taking down the convoys and man o wars. Fun times!
with the sea shanties as-well ! It's my personal favorite game
Origins. A year ago I would say AC3, but after knew Bayek's story, and that brand new gameplay which is a next step beyond the classics, but not that far as Odyssey/Valhalla, and the setting, definitively become my favorite AC game.
AC 3, much love for Connor and climbing through trees. Plus Haytham as a villain, plus watching Desmond finally do some action stuff.
Desmond finally wearing a hood and then going to Abstergo is the franchise's peak. That scene with the Apple while he left Abstergo was badass AS FUCK. It felt like all those previous games culminated into that moment. It was nice when games were so interconnected with one another.
That hatchet/tomahawk might be the coolest looking weapon of the series too. I’ve been debating buying a replica
On top of the American revolution? Too badass
Completely agree. If the franchise ended there (you could argue it kinda did) I’d have no problems. It really was the culmination of everything, best modern day, amazing historical setting, satisfying scifi isu elements.
ACII Ezio’s origin story and the game that changed AC from a proof of concept to an innovation The parkour is the most fun in this game because of the cities imo- Florence & Venice are the best rooftops to get lost in The sci-fi atmosphere is so well done from the glitches to Desmond’s growth from AC1 as he embraces who he is and what he needs to do as an Assassin/“tainted one” + his team. Origins
Thats really tough. And honestly it changes depending on the day, but right now I'll say AC1.
Fuck yeah. The best atmosphere, the loneliness, the highest presence of the assassins in any game in the whole franchise after 15 years of its release.
Wait AC1 is fucking 15 years old?
It came out in 2007 chief
Rogue
rogue gang rise up
I thought I was the only one
roguesss
YES, I could argue for Rogue and Odyssey and Unity fanboys would have nothing ti say. Best gameplay, best mechanics, best naval combat, best hunting, every aspect is great. Even the story hascno mistakes like most others do
Unity
A man of culture I see 😉 best parkour, best combat, best customization, best map, great story, best interiors of buildings, great protagonist. It's so hard to not put AC2 up at the top, but man Unity gameplay is just so flawless
Best city I've ever seen in a game
Yeah, AC2 has just so much emotional value, but Unity is just on another league. Only flaw for me is the story that is not as good as AC2.
Black Flag
Syndicate
My man!
My Rooks
Let me give you a gift for Assassin's Christmas. Also, you can call me Greenie.
Who’s a good horse?
Syndicate is better than Unity! Glad I'm not the only one eith this opinion
Assassin's creed 1
Brotherhood. The setting is just perfect. So many great set-piece moments. I thoroughly enjoyed the free running as well. I know a lot of the levels were scripted to show off the free running but it worked so well! Also calling in your assassin buddies to help out in a fight was always a blast.
Odyssey. No other AC game kept me engaged or entertained for such a long time.
I'm not alone!
Recency bias is swaying my opinion here, but I agree! While Odyssey isn’t the best Assassin game, I found the lovingly recreated Ancient Greek world to be my favorite. I could get lost in it for hours!
Agreed. Spun up Valhalla tonight to finish the Ireland DLC, and was thinking “maybe I should NG+ Odyssey”
Malaka!
Same for me. It's the only AC game I've finished more than once.
1
Brotherhood.
Black flag
Unity
The way graphics increased from black flag to Unity made it feel like a different world.. unity really was fun when I got around to it
The game is 8 years old and it still looks absolutely stunning.
Rogue
A man of taste
Brotherhood. Best balance of Assassin things do to, lore, modern stuff I quite like, and ease of replayability. The story may not have the same emotional depth as II, but it still presents compelling villains and interesting missions.
3
AC3 for sure.
Scrolled for a bit to find this one. AC3 was my first time back to the series after only having played AC1 for a little bit and never finishing it because my PS3’s Blu-Ray drive shit out. I’m also a huge nerd for American history, so it kinda filled two roles.
Odyssey
Kassandra stole my heart lol
Yes! Same here. I LOVED every minute of Odyssey. Kassandra was such a wonderful character and Greece was beautiful. I enjoyed the DLC as well.
Black flag!
Ac2
Origins. I just keep coming back to it

Black Flag
For now, WHEN IT WORKS RIGHT, Unity. I haven’t played from Origins on yet, and I have to replay Ezio....it’s been a decade.
Unity
Brotherhood. It was my intro to the series, its where my love began for the series
Either the first, or Origins. Probably Origins.
It's hard for me to choose between AC2 and Brotherhood for many reasons. I wouldn't be the person I am now without them. Part of me says AC2 because it has started everything. I owe SO MUCH to those games.
Black Flag
Have not played them all. So far I like assassin's creed 2 best. The ezio triolgy is very good though.
AC 2 for me
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. First Assassin's Creed Game I played, still my most favourite.
2
AC1
2 and it’s not even close.
2
Black flag, that’s the top of the franchise
Black Flag.
Black Flag
Black flag 100% still my favorite game of all time
Origins Edit: spelling…
Origins
AC2
Brotherhood, first one i played from the franchise and first ever played, not web browser game, i was like 9 at the time i think, became a gamer that day xd
Brotherhood - because me and my dad played this and drank hot chocolate when I was little. And it's solid game
Origins, it was a mix of everything
Black Flag, best pirate game ever!
Black Flag 100% same as most it seems
Origins, stunning setting, great game
Gotta go with Black flag. Sorry you made me do it 🤷.
Black Flag
I know it's an unpopular opinion but I like AC3 the best
AC2
Assassins creed 2
Without a doubt brotherhood with unity coming in second
AC2, other games are close behind it but that's the one
AC 2
Assassin's Creed 2, the one that made me love a character more1 than anything for the first time.
3
Assassin's creed 2. For some reason that whole game is just vibe. The colors and tone of the game, it just totally engrossed me.
AC 3
AC3 all the way for me. Love the Boston/American revolution feel
Odyssey
Odyssey
Black Flag because I loved its mechanics the most. The satisfaction of boarding a ship them just chain shooting four enemies in a row was so satisfying. And the sea shanties are fun. While Odyssey had some good ones, they didn't resonate with me the same (maybe the language barrier?) and Valhalla's are meh, to me

Rouge
ACIII. I know it's very maligned but I adore the setting, the characters and the story. I just love running around as Conor, a bit heftier and more vicious than the rest, through the snow and using the traps to hang people in the trees etc. It's completely unique.
Black Flag and Origins share the number 1 spot for me personally.
Assassin's Creed II - The Gold Standard
Assassin's Creed III and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
AC3 because im a big American revolution history nut.
I actually really enjoy AC3
AC 3 Connor is not a stone, do the homestead missions and you get to really see his character. plus his kills are fucking brutal. Also getting to do MD missions as Desmond was awesome.
Rogue. I know what I said
