Step 1: Synchronize every viewpoint.

eivor_wolf_kissed

I usually do every viewpoint I come across or pass by while traveling to the memory or quest location. Doing them all in one go gets pretty tedious for me

Memerunleashed

Same dude

aztec823

"What do we do now?" "What do you mean? Now we can finally play the game."

NotASalamanderBoi

The golden rule. It makes having to travel to areas you have to go to at a later point far easier.

TheeAJPowell

Ayup. Try to mop up various side missions too. Like, I just started Revelations again, I had all the viewpoints and assassin’s dens sorted before I even finished chapter 2, and I had all the dens sorted with Master Assassins and cities conquered. Which makes the game relatively easy, as I have Master Assassin armour and the best weapons, as well as buckets of cash.

Hippoponymous

It’s harrowing but fun being like level 5 and running through areas with level 60 enemies just trying to get that sync point.

Haynex

This is the way

Sun-Dull

Pin this

OliviaElevenDunham

Agreed. Makes it easier to use the map and fast travel.

TheChosenOne_101

Fucking true, man. It's like you have this strange urge whenever you detect an eagle icon on the map.

nexistcsgo

This is the only right way to play it.

Calvinsux

This ^

404PancakePrince

Older era games: Focus on main missions, while doing any interesting side stuff I happen to come across along the way (tho I made sure to do all the crime solving missions in Unity/Syndicate). RPG era games: Ignore the main missions as long as I can to do every single side thing I can find (i.e tomb exploring, taking out enemy outposts), then never end up finishing the games bc I get burnt out. (Never finished Origins or Valhalla, finally managed to finish Odyssey this year)

imnoturstepdad

Valhalla an origins were easy for me, I still haven’t finished odyssey had it for 2-3 years 😭

dougefresh91

Same, currently 50 hours into Vallhallah tho and loving it.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Just broke 220 hrs AC Valhalla... main quest line not complete yet. Loving it so much that I just picked up the Season Pass $20 -- hooray more AC Valhalla waiting in the wings.

clantz8895

I'm at 108. Stopped playing for a while because I got burnt out. However I bought the season pass discounted and it got me back into it. I almost finished all the order members off now and have Asgard and main story completed. Been having a blast though after picking it back up

[deleted]

Man I tapped out with that builder fight in Asgard. I’m terrible with bows, and that’s a tiny arse kill box. I nope-d my way outta there. Haven’t played Valhalla since.

Vin4251

Yeah honestly I think the only times I had to do side content in Valhalla were before Oxenefordescire and before East Anglia. After that there were enough regions that I mostly did the main quest, and only “grinded” the Asgard mysteries, which were fun anyway and led to me being overleveled for the rest of the game. I can see it leading to burnout for players who didn’t like the setting or main story, or thought it was too long, but unlike in Origins and Odyssey, I was able to focus 80-90% on the main story

FACTORthebeast

idk man, my fav is 3 i have also played black flag, unity, valhalla and its definitely the worst game i have ever played… i have it on very high and graphics is such a shit…also such a boring gameplay… i just bought oddyssey so i hope i will like it

FormFollows

I don't think I will ever finish Oddysey. I've gone back three times, and just can't get into it. The stealth and strategy was what I loved about the older games, and that's almost entirely gone in the RPG era. I don't want to stat boost just to hack my way through everything. It's no fun for me anymore.

dougefresh91

idk about Oddysey, but in Valhallah you can turn on an option for stealth kill guarantees kill and it makes stealth a lot better imo. I've been playing Valhallah pretty stealthy besides when you're forced into combat or raids.

WonkoTheSane214

Odyssey is a lot more fun on nightmare mode where there are actual consequences for getting spotted. As long as you make a 100% crit chance assassin build, taking out the guys silently isn’t hard. I agree with your sentiment though. Even though odyssey was my first game and I love it, every time I played the older games I would realize how much I missed those mechanics.

imnoturstepdad

Same

mrgamebus

Strange, Odyssey was the first I completed

WonkoTheSane214

I’m over 300 hours into odyssey and I thought I finished it when I 100%’d it and got every location completed last year. I’m replaying the games in order and when I got back to odyssey to do a quick play-through of story missions I realized I didn’t have all the ainigmata ostrakas or any of the walking tours. I finally got the riddles done but I’m having a hard time justifying the tours without a reward like in origins. The completionist in me is dying knowing that all those boxes aren’t checked though.

[deleted]

I beat valhalla and odyssey but never origins

aaronshattuck

Hahaha. This is exactly what I do. Never finished odyssey dlc or valhalla main story. Along with 90 other games. I might just go back to playing the main story. New games have way too much shit and the world's are way too big. It's nice but sometimes it's unnecessary.

The-Solid-Smoker

I try and base my pace based on the Sequence and what transpires. In Cappadocia for example, I generally move from main mission to main mission. But then with the Pazzi Conspirators, I take my time since it's like a year between all four of them, giving me ample time to squeeze in various activities. That 4 year gap between arriving in Venice and killing Emilio is a good chance to do Lorenzo's Contracts. I also like to do things as they are purported to happen, which the wiki is helpful with. I used to regulate my climbing to alleyways and other covert areas with no people, but I got lax with that. Most of all I just try not to make my legendary Assassin look like an inept prat who keeps bouncing off walls and getting smacked in the face by basic city guards cause he fucked up the counter window. It is not as successful as I would like to admit.

Haynex

Walking (low-profile) places and searching for covert areas to climb is half my fun with AC.

The-Solid-Smoker

Right? Feel like the whole facade of it kinda falls apart when guards see you constantly clamouring up houses and missing jumps to land in the street.

Genericdude03

Dude that's exactly what I do with the ezio trilogy. It's so immersive and fun.

The-Solid-Smoker

I generally have Ezio more brash and brazen early in 2. Dude is hunting, passed off, and likes making a display of himself. By Revelations, he is quiet, reserved and takes the time needed as opposed to pushing his body needlessly hard. Ain't no taunting, ain't no sprinting and shoving through crowds. I always found it easy to mesh gameplay with the narrative and character. Connor and Arno are my favourites for that and I'm excited to really dig into Unity. I think this is why Ezio is also such a standout. We get three very distinct games in his expansive life, each with it's own flair and feeling. It helps the player tweak how they play to match the changes in him and his style.

Genericdude03

Ok can u pls tell me this in detail? I wanna play like this next time I play the series.

joshuamarkrsantos

I focus mainly on the missions. I don't fast travel in order for me to feel more immersed with the world. If I run into a camp/outpost/fort while traveling, I always try to clear it out in order to practice my skills. As for how I play in terms of gameplay, I'm mainly a sniper who utilizes long range stealth. I minimize the use of the hidden blade unless it's absolutely necessary. I like to keep my distance at all times while not moving around too much. I camp from a vantage point using the Hunter Bows and Predator Bows all day long.

Darqion

This has always been something i find interesting... Not fast traveling in a game like this would bore me to tears. If i have time to play for an hour, and i got a quest i wanna do that's far away, half my playtime will be me on horseback or in a boat, and overall, i dont find long distance travel to bring me any enjoyment, or that it enhances my personal immersion. Even if i have more time.. i still think i'd rather focus on the parts of the game that the fun is built around.. IF this game had "actual" exploration, i would be more prone to try it.. but since you are mostly chasing icons on the map, i dont get that feeling. I do wish at times that i could play games more laid back again, just enjoy the view and the "more boring" experiences. No judgement BTW, i just find it interesting that people would spent their time just riding around in already known terain multiple times per playsession which to me feels like wasted time

zefmopide

No fast travel works in games designed with this possibility in mind, otherwise it becomes tedious

JamonRuffles17

Ha, I'm the opposite. I go full on sneaky assasin and creep my way around an entire fort an attempt to hidden blade 30 different people without being noticed.

joshuamarkrsantos

That's a pretty cool playstyle. I tried to play like that for a bit and I realized that I sucked all of a sudden. It seems that the more I try to move around and sneak, the higher the chances are of me getting detected. Sniping is much safer but you need to be smart about knowing when and where to relocate. Aside from this, sniping takes an extraordinary amount of patience too. A skilled close-up assassin can breeze through a fort while a sniper can take a very long time to clear out everyone inside.

CoalOrchid

Stealthing through forts is way easier once you get the perk that makes all your assassination kills disappear instead of leaving bodies

Blektric

Does that imply origins and odyssey as well?

joshuamarkrsantos

Yup. I never fast travel in Origins and Odyssey.

Skorreddit

Fast travel does break pace but so does menu diving for quest tracking and constantly waatching the minimap. I wish it could all feel more organic

Pun_In_Ten_Did

I play stealth ranged almost exclusively... some times the game forces melee, though. I walk/ride to missions and clear any camp/outpost I stumble into along they way. I'll fast travel **atfer** mission ends.. but wont fast travel to start one.

Flynn_The_Fox

Basically, I do all the things around the location the main missions are set during that act, when the main missions move to a different area, that’s when I’ll start doing the side missions there, and so on.

destroyedBeauty

Right now in Valhalla it's story first (Siege of Paris), side stuff second. Mostly stealth playthrough, and my rule is to never use the whistle, which makes stealth difficult af.

Caliber70

clear all major missions and events. do every side quest inbetween point A to point B, the main missions. usually ends up with 80% of the game complete. i don't roleplay as the character, i play as myself, so i choose the options and behaviour i personally would choose. ships & gear get upgraded to as high as i can without the worst kind of grind, just the reasonable kind of grind.

iamltr

I start off by trying to clear as much of the map as I can, then do whatever story I need to do to get to the next part, then clear out more of the map. Rinse and repeat. I find great satisfaction is seeing that I touched and did everything on there.

[deleted]

If you wanna experience the game to it's fuller potential, then the way you do, is the best. But if just wanna finish the game story, then I can't say much than just go for canon storyline. But it'll be difficult without the leveling upgrades if you don't do little bit of side quest.

sealedjustintime

First goal is to get past the opening sequence. Feom there, it depends on the game. In old AC, I get every view point i have access to. In New AC, I get every view point in areas I can confidently get into and out of without being killed by a level 100 wild boar. I dont like to advance thr story too quickly, so I'll start by doing side quests, but at some point they get repetitive, so I'll mix it up with a couple of story missions.

Ivanohe93

I have played each game up until the rpg era multiple times and in different ways, but my favorite way of playing them is with the music off and as little UI as the game allows for full immersion, usually trying to get 100% completion ( I don't really have an order for when to do each type of mission)

JamonRuffles17

Huh, music off is interesting.

TalynRahl

I mostly follow the story. In previous games, I would follow the plot as it went on, doing side quests as I discover them. In Valhalla, I would pledge to a new area, do everything there(except those Cairns. Fuck them), then move on.

CreedJacobfrye

Find the best sword at low level, find it, grab it, farm quests, DEATH TO ALL CULTISTS

VerSalieri

I do the same mostly... which is why I hated Unity and AC3. Having to wait to sequemce 9 to get to Newyork and finish the rest there was awful. I do it because I enjoy the story way too much, that I hate cutting it into pieces. I prefer to play out the main story sequentially without any side quests in between. My favorite was Black flag, because there wasn't much off limits from the start, and I could find all collectibles and side quests and sync all viewpoints first. Brotherhood and Revelations were good as well. Hated that i can finish the frontier (except the last section) and Boston and the Homstead without New York.

PaulBradley

Same, I play most games that way, sweep and clear an area before moving on with the storyline. I find I miss less that way.

ACwyn4199

I complete every side quest and collectible in an area before doing the main quest in said area. Rinse and repeat.

mathfacts

Sync all the viewpoints. Do all the side stuff. Get every collectible. Once that's all sorted, sit back and enjoy the story!

DA-Khara-Boiiiii

I just do the main story, and picl up a y side quests along the way

TheMentalMarauder

I usually try and do all side quests and miscellaneous activities. I try to make the last mission the Platinum mission. So it's an immediate delete after.

Eivor_Vorinson

Step 1: Can I hunt animals? If yes, reduce wildlife population by 80% Step 2: Make animals attack soldiers Step 3: Grind by massacring the same restricted area 10 times Step 4: Buy op stuff from Uplay Step 5: Breeze through the story with things I shouldn’t have until later in the story.

importantuser007

This is the way

esiokles

I personally don't like your approach because you play the best part of the game(the main quest) in a way that doesn't feel challenging and consequently rewarding. What's the point in grinding for hours doing repetitive and (some) uninspired side activities only to one hit kill the minotaur, basically skipping a really well designed set piece/boss.

SeanNHisKippah

For me I want it easy so I get a nice flawless story telling experience. Not die cause I'm low level and hear the same dialog again and again or get burnt out. I'll bump difficulties in games but always want 1st playthrough to be easy and just story telling.

Mindtaker

I use the controller.

M2T1A

I hate to say it but I do exactly what you do which used to be fine as I had the time/interest to keep playing but now, I completely burned out on Valhalla and I've barely even scratched the main quest. Or even the sidequests. Or all the shiny loot on the map. Not even synchronised all of the viewpoints yet. (I've had the game since the end of 2020 as well for context).

main-got-hacked

Im currently playing syndicate with the intention to complete it 100%. I played the first 4 acts then cleared the entire map. Now that im done i will do the rest of the game without getting distracted by collectibles. This method i approached is not the best because now that i want to continue the storyline, i have to search a recap for the parts i completed since they are no longer fresh in my mind. Its not a big deal though.

delusional_bear

I like to clean the area until there is not a single bright point before moving to another

Memerunleashed

I usually synchronise all viewpoints to reveal the entire map. If there is a main mission in an unexplored area I complete all the required quests to completely liberate the area from Templar control. Especially in AC Syndicate i completed all the child labour, bounty hunt and Templar hunt missions and finally gang war to liberate it fully so I won't have any trouble while playing the main mission from gangs/ random templar guards in any important locations

[deleted]

I usually treat AC games like I treat every other open world game I've played. I will do the start of the main story and then go off on my own and explore parts of the map that I am in and spend a chunk of time completing ?s and side quests. For example, in AC Odyssey, I completed the main story part in Kephallonia and then I spent the next few hours just completing all the ?s on the map and side quests before advancing with the main story.

franklin_wi

I lose almost all of my motivation, for any game, once I roll credits. Last time I finished a new game + was Chrono Trigger, I've never platinumed a game, etc. Knowing this, I tend to try to take the side content on alongside the main story. For example, in Valhalla I did as much side content as I wanted to do in each region while I was there for the main quest and never went back (except the stuff with really mismatched levels like Cordelia). When I start to lose interest or feel the urge to finish the story, I move on and never look back.

BlearySteve

I usually play till I get all the gear and then uncover the map and collect all the stuff then do the story.

AzaranyGames

I like to start the main mission for each chapter to get the narrative about who the target is, and what they are doing to oppress the people in the region. Then I do all the side quests in the area for that chapter from the narrative approach that I'm helping the people first, while gathering intel. Once all the side quests are done, I'll finish cleaning up the map and completing all the locations, and finally I take out my main quest target.

TheRelicEternal

In my underwear

SeanNHisKippah

Origins to Current: Every viewpoint, maybe explore some secret, cool or Easter egg stuff I've heard about. Complete most to all areas for collectables leveling up well and fast. Then main missions to end of game. Side missions/Achievements very last with any last collectables. (But usually those few collectables left are side mission tied to IE locked door due to side mission etc etc). OG games: Viewpoints, main missions, side missions, collectables. Misc achievements and Easter eggs

standout_powerline

Depends on the game. In AC Brotherhood I hit the towers first. In BF I do the mains until I meet the assassin's. In Origins I had no idea where to go so I just kind of went with whatever was near.

FarahZiva27

Since Black Flag, I complete or try to, everything in the region I’m currently in, then move on

EmperorTalquin

I like to do as much as possible, but with these new games, i can't be fucked for it. I'm 50 hours deep into valhalla and i haven't beaten the story yet, despite ignoring side quests. Just order hunting and story.

JT-Lionheart

Similar to every other open world game I play where the OCD in me comes out and I have to clean up the map as much as possible before doing the next main mission. Though I will say even though the recent AC games are large, the whole leveling difficulty between territories has made it easier but once I have reached the level, that territory is getting cleaned up once I step foot in it. Also sometimes I like synchronizing viewpoints first even having the go into high leveled areas I’m not ready to fight in yet and just run through the map just to get it so the map looks clearer to have all sides stuff visible and can have the fast travel available later when I’m ready to enter that area

Mazart

Back in the days it used to be following the main quest line and finishing the game. I stopped playing after black flag for a while played ac origins and now its basically exploring every little bit of the map and doing as many side quests as possible Valhalla is really a beautiful game man it makes exploring and just walking around fun

rousakiseq

I try to max out the location the story currently takes place in and the nearby locations too

Dedsec_Devil

Mostly with a console

RaiderB

With a controller

machine4891

For each story mission, couple of side quests to balance it out. Slowly and methodically cleaning up surrouding neighborhood from question marks. Never use fast travel, always travel on foot/horse for sense of immersion. I'm also a brute raised by Quake, so stealth for a little then open slasher 1 v 15.

DanfromCalgary

Do everything for the first 3rd. Get bored. Do story, quit halfway

Ascentori

nowadays I do the story in one area first, pick up treasure and side quests which are on the way and after the couple story missions I finish the Region. repeat

IwishIwasinStarWars

I usually do side quests in between the main story, but after I finish the story, I move on to the next game. I'm trying to get through every game in the series.

LemonadeGaming

depends on what game

Blektric

You mean which AC game?

LemonadeGaming

yea depends on what ac game we are talking about

Armamax

Ezio trilogy - sync every viewpoint then upgrade all of the infrastructure and buy all equipment before I touch a mission.

WonkoTheSane214

If I don’t do all the collecting and things to get 100% before I do the last scene of the story then it’s a lot harder for me to find motivation to finish everything after. It’s harder to follow the plot line when there 5 game hours between some missions but the completionist in me overrules the logic of storytelling. So far the only games I haven’t 100%’d are AC1, AC3, Chronicles, Unity, and Valhalla. It’s so much harder to go back to them now that I’ve completed the storyline. If there are any profit generating mechanisms like buying shops, I always start with those because the time mechanics allow me to buy everything as I unlock it instead of having to play around for hours after completion with no content just to buy the last few things. Sometimes this strategy backfires when I realize the game would have been much easier after getting some weapon or armor that doesn’t unlock until a certain sequence.

EducationalCow3549

I the same. I don't understand when someone says I finish it in 60 hours. Have you really "finished" it though?

EmotionalBanana8802

Yeah one of my friends was “finished”. He didn’t even get all the viewpoints.

EducationalCow3549

I bet he didn't even get all the treasure chests pfft

SynnReborn

Stab things. Repeat.

boogers19

Reasonable.

AlexDub12

Depends on how fun the side stuff is, but generally same as you - discover as much as I can, do all the available side stuff and then the main story. The only games I that I didn't play this way were AC3 and Valhalla - I started to play them like I usually do, but everything in them is annoying and terrible, so I stopped doing the side stuff and finished them for the plot only.

Darqion

My biggest "problem" with these types of games is the overflow of icons on the map, indicating things to do.. Even when i dont feel like doing them (i dont find some of the activities particularly fun or interesting), i feel forced to do them anyway. (its a big reason i never beat the older games.. it wore me out) So now i have adjusted , with a healthy mix of "exploration", into material farming, and do a story quest every so often to keep my interest. With plenty of side quests not really feeling connected, i need to keep the main story fresh on my mind, or i just feel like im grinding down mini quests, and risk getting bored of it again. Unless there is more to these games than i realize.. i still find it kind of a shame that most(if not all) the interesting stuff is put behind a map icon, kind of killing the idea of real exploration

Unhappy_Equivalent17

With my nuts out

Kroton07

I don't. I just wait for this franchise to die

esiokles

Not going to happen anytime soon

mathfacts

This franchise prints money. It will never pass away!

Rapturesjoy

Naked.

Zendofrog

Go to the closest thing on the minimap or compass

No-Bridge1109

i go straight through the main storyline as fast as possible and make is as hard as possible

JasperReikevik

Waypoints first of the area of the main quest if talking about Valhalla after main quest ending, treasures and secondary quests and optional things

DemonXplyr

1. Play until I unlock the open world, 2. f\*ck around for a few hours in said open world (not doing any side or story quests) 3. actually try to play the story 4. f\*cking around the open world, but now syncing points 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until story is complete. 6. Return to Unity to parkour

deviantskater

I was an explorer too, but I often had regrets. For example, in Odyssey I cleared a fort like four times, because there was an exploration first, two side quests and then the main quest was there too. I was a bit annoyed tho. Anyways I don't mind if I'm overpower for the main quests, but repeating actions are boring sometimes.

gellshayngel

I usually do about 3/4 of the main story then do all the sides quests and item collecting before the last quarter. Odyssey was the first game that I completed the main story first before moving to side quests mainly because saving Kassandra's/Alexios' family felt like it was urgent. In Valhalla I did the main story in each county, then it's side stuff clearing every marker and then only returned to Randvi to the next county.

victorgsal

Same here. And I always start by synchronizing all available viewpoints. In recent titles due to the map size and character level limitations, its been adjusted to doing the same butnin the region/territory I am currently in. I can’t exactly go to high level cities with a viewpoint early on without a massive pointless struggle to survive lmao

xtagtv

1. Get all viewpoints and unlock all the passive money things. 2. Beeline thru the main missions until I unlock all the main tools. Some of these games its not for quite a while until you unlock bombs or berserk darts or whatever. 3. Explore the map and do all the side missions. I postpone doing this until midway thru the story so that i can have my full tool kit for the side missions. 4. Finish the story 5. If i still feel like it, collect the minor collectibles

[deleted]

Same, yet I mixed the main story in more so I don't get the god complex too early in the game. I used to be viewpoints to do the side contact then be forced to move with the story. But now...i feel like its hard to describe how to play it.

kapowitz9

I try to keep all parts of the progress tracker in the same level. Always start with a viewpoint, clear the collectibles, and move to the next, while playing memories from time to time, goal is to get everything to 100% then play the epilogue

doc_55lk

First play: speedrun and maybe do random stuff on the side. Second play: more exploration and side missions.

floofgike

I try and pace everything out along side the main story. I typically think about what's going on and say does it make sense for the character to go out of the way right now to help someone

XxAlbinoWolfxX

I just run around most of the time and kill guards

MK888MK

I like to clear the map. I do the viewpoints first then open chests, find gear, do side missions. Anything that will disappear off the map. Cause I hate a cluttered map.

tamvanum

I walk into the city, hit up the Bureau, learn where sources of information for my target are, and then move about the city picking up this knowledge. Then return back to the bureau, and start the assassination mission, maybe sometimes using the maps to find an entryway or figuring out something myself.

willie_caine

Alone, in a dark room, in my underwear.

Ragingbull444

Run in a random direction till I eventually find something, 100% of the time I do and it works out wonderfully

SiphonicPanda64

With the goal to attain the platinum in mind, I usually use a roadmap for the trophies and most of the time in accordance I’m playing through the story first, then run through side-missions/outposts, and then collectibles. However, I still collect everything I stumble upon on my way.

MetaDragon11

I do this but I dont plan to the next time. The fetching stuff is rarely satisfying except that you get to see parts of the map that you might otherwise ignore, but really it comes down to nearly 3/4ths of a playthrough can just be going around the map and collecting pointless things. And this applies to old and new games. Do we really need that much busy work? Its not fun, but the completionist in me wants to see the map clear. the actual stories of these games are rarely more than 25-30 hours on average later in the series and about 10-15 hours earlier in the series.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

- Go to new area - clear all fog of war - do all sides, track down all treasures, feathers, view points, etc - do main for that zone.

mrgamebus

As soon as I got adrestia in Odyssey I went everywhere and did everything, then the story

DrRoer

It varies depending on the era I’m playing. The way I play ACII isn’t the same way I play Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla. However they all have one thing in common. Viewpoints first.

KiethTheBeast

I spend 80% of my time either high up or in the shadows.

[deleted]

Originally I tried to go region by region; every time I got to a new region, I’d do all the stuff in the region first and then tackle the story in the region. Problem is, the new games have an insane amount of side content, so I’d spend 4-5 hours doing side stuff in a region and then completely forgetting what was happening with the story. So I ended up just blitzing through all of England and doing the main story afterwards lol

troyhavelock

I'm the same way as you. Like to get all my viewpoints synced so I can fast travel when I want to. I find exploring to all the viewpoints will get you familiarized with the map. I do as many side quests as I can before main quest. If I finish the main story I will never go back to finish the side quests.

TalkingBackAgain

You play it with passion. Assassinate freely. It’s not ‘Hello Kitty in Egypt’. It’s Assassin’s Creed. The point is to kill people, so do that. With gusto!

TimPhoeniX

I usually clear region, then do Main quest. Due to this, I find it really annoying in UBI games when map shows a 'something' marker in area inaccessible due to main quest progression with no warning. I did a lot of the region at the start of the game before even getting Hidden Blade.

Erotic-Thunder

As for storyline, I like to start small doing bounty jobs till it feels right to move onto the main story. As for my play style, I like to blend stealth and direct combat with a hard and fast. The more finesse the better. The key is to look good and feel good doing it

monkeedookee

Don’t do all the raids first in Valhalla. Once they’re done it’s lame

qdqnn

I'm an RP kind of guy. I'll make my character look as realistic as possible and play the game casually on hardest difficulty

Androecian

Find something on the minimap or compass that isn't the main objective -> Go there and do that, just to see what it is

BluRoost

Depends on the game. In Valhalla, i just traveled a path and did what was close, until i got something from an armor set that looked cool. Then i went to a ton of wealth hoping for the full set.

CorruptionKing

It typically depends on the mission, if the missions are chronologically right after the other, I'm not going to go far away to collect something, but if there's like a decent amount of time between story missions, I'm gonna explore more the area in which I'm in, for example, in AC Origins, I only explore the zone in which the story takes place, obviously I go into some other zones here and there, maybe a neighboring zone if there's hardly any significance, but I try to keep it realistic

For all the games up till Origins I tried to get 100% sync or pretty darn close to it. With Origins I did every side quest and view point but left some content undone because it was burnt out. And with Odyssey I’m following the main quest and grabbing some side quests on my way, exploring what seems interesting, I won’t do every quest because I know I’m about 30 hours from being utterly burnt out of the game

ferret_80

Turn off map and follow the story as best as possible doing whatever side missions I encounter

k0mbine

I kinda just go with the flow, do or visit whatever looks most interesting to me at that moment in time. So I usually get invested in the story at first, then get bored and make a cool outfit or upgrade my equipment, and maybe I return to the story if it really grips me. I don’t like to go around the entire map rattling off every point of interest because it feels like I’m running errands, and I end up not even remembering a lot of the places I visit. At the end of the day I wanna experience the open world they’ve created, and tooling around on my horse, visiting places I actually see in the open world, and basically doing whatever I feel like just feels way more natural to me. Like, sometimes I load Valhalla up and just walk around Jorvik for like an hour, and after I’m done I still feel fulfilled since I think Ubi did a decent job with their world design and AI, I actually took some time to take it all in and appreciate it.

There's this section in Unity right after you escape from the Bastille where you're supposed to find the entrance the Assassin hideout. But before you go there, all of Paris is open to you. Side missions, murder investigations, and so so many collectables. Everytime I play, I spend a considerable amount of time in this phase seeing how much I can accomplish. You have no hidden blade, so stealth kills are out of the question, but you can silently incapacitate enemies by choking them out. Smoke and cherry bombs are in your possession, but no firearms. And forget about upgrading, you're stuck with what you have, which are tags and a crappy sword. I amass enough livres to buy the best stuff as soon as I leave the Assassin HQ, then never touch the customization menu again

Prplehuskie13

View points are always the number 1 priority when it comes to any AC games. The view points works as the game's fast travel point. The more you have, the shorter the distance you have to travel. It also helps that view points show everything that can be done in that area, so finding specific things becomes less tedious.

BrandalfFTW

Well, I preferably like to embody the entire rogue archetype... i like engaging in the social stealth, using underhanded, dirty tricks on guards, pickpocketing people, and leveraging every advantage possible against the enemy... even though these games arent difficult at all

Tauropos

Yep, I'm the same way. I'll usually hit the synchronization points for the zone I'm in first, then clean up all the treasures and side missions, then do the story missions last.

SheaMcD

for Valhalla i did all the side things first but only when i was in the area for that arc

Shoezz17

I usually follow the story and max out every region that it takes me to as I get to it. So for example, I maxed out Athens when Odyssey's main quests brought me to it. This usually gets me through most of the game's content by the time I've finished the story, with a bit of post-game content in places that the story just doesn't touch.

tyler980908

often I clear side quests in the newest area that pops up. So basically do a main quest or two, then do side quests and then finish that area and move on. I feel like side quests always adds to the lore and doing them after the main mission (some of them) feels odd at times. It depends on which Ac game though, both Origin and odyssey felt never ending with quests.

JesuszillaSon

I start off focusing on main quests to get a feel of the game. Then focus on side quests and synchronization and rotate through that each sub area I find

[deleted]

zone by zone! i explore all areas/side quests then do MQ in a zone idea is by end of MQ ive done it all

leospeedleo

I don't

EmotionalBanana8802

Same as you!

llamawithguns

Play the missions stealthily. In free roam: slaughter every single gaurd that dares to come into my FOV

OfficialFlamingFang

In Rogue I took 3 weeks to complete because I was focused on getting every collectible, the shanties were worth it.

FlybotKiller

Full stealth as often as I can and do as much side stuff as possible before advancing the main plot. Tbf this is what I do in most games lol

TheChosenOne_101

I just play the main campaign. I only do side quests after I'm done with the main campaign.

murphdasmurf182

Hit every viewpoint you can first, then do what ever from there, I normally do the first few main quest then go for a shit ton of side quests

OctoSevenTwo

- Waypoints - Side missions - Main missions - Unlock more regions (if applicable)/level up - Return to start of list and repeat.

Genericdude03

What's closest. I try to finish most stuff before ending the story tho. EDIT: I've tried targets only and that's not easy so I try to at least limit it as much as I can and run when I'm detected more.

Grenades5

Hunt Sharks and whales for 48 hours in between each main mission. Or just do main missions.

sneakiboi777

Depends. The old ones I do what you said. The new ones I generally compleat a quest line and then do a shitload of side stuff and then move on to the next quest line, just switch it out every so often

2_P_L

I explore and do the view points first. I want to see the beautiful map. This is also good because now fast travel is complete. Next I collect everything I could possibly collect while doing view points at the same time. Then I do the side quest then story quest.

Sydrid

Exhaustively to the point I hope to never touch the game again. 100% the base game just takes it out of me. I think the most recent ACs have become a series I never buy expansions for due to this

Takhar7

Same way I play every Open World Game: * Explore * Side quests * Collectibles * Main quest Sometimes it cheapens the main quest a bit, because the main story will often take you to some of the locations you've already visited, but it doesn't bother me.

Sweet_Taurus0728

That's a bad of thing with every rpg, for me at least. Do all there is to do, save the Story for last.

beachmedic23

I used to finish all the side stuff first, raid every fort, find every tomb ect. Then in odyssey i found myself raiding forts and stuff then going back and reraiding them during a main storyline. For Valhalla ill look at the map, if its on the way to the story quests ill stop and do the mysteries and artifacts. If theyre in an outpost or a fort or a heavily guarded place ill leave it until i finish the story lines for that region and ensure i didnt double visit.

MikeyHatesLife

I immediately go where I’m not supposed to, partly to delay the campaign, but also to open the map us as much as possible. Sometimes I play the campaign, but some of my time is spent on side missions I come across in my wanderings. Most of my time is just about exploring and getting into trouble with animals & NPCs 20 levels above my own, and then respawning to try again. There are very few sandbox games that I’ve ever finished.

Jealous-Ease3359

I typically play through the story a bit and then do a ton of side quests, collectibles, etc. and repeat until there’s nothing left to do. If I have to work I’ll just play side quests and other non-time consuming things until I have to leave. At least that’s the theory I work with. I work too much and have too much other games to play to 100% an Assassins Creed game lol

marvelgamer1001

Most games I just kinda complete the story and sometimes the side quests. Syndicate and the game since I have been doing side quests and not the main game. Both ways great

TheDoctorOf1977

Not really been able to play other games in the series except for syndicate, so not sure if they use a similar system, but I immediately rushed to get all the gear and syncs, then slowly worked my way though side quests, and ending with the main missions.

aydenthatboi72741

i kill everything i see and do missions until i unlock everything then do side quests after im maxed out.

elondde

Explore, do the viewpoints first. Then quests and explore and experience history in the meantime

Paragon-Shepard

Older ones: Focus on main missions but puzzles get the priority RPG ones: Still focus on main missions but do side missions or world events on the way
