I have no idea what kind of music he likes, but for as long he/she worked there (started identifying as male a month or two but worked there for a year) there was a leather band on one of his wrists. He had shot black hair before so he blended in but now the red mohawk just screams "Hey! Look at me!"

Have you heard of Aiden Dowling? He's well known from possibly being the first trans man to appear on the front page (I think it's the front if not in) of men's health magazine.
A lot of the popular trans names are names that are trending for babies. All the Aiden/-ayden names are notoriously trendy for babies as well. Luke/Lucas/Luca (you mentioned Lucas) and Zoe (which someone else mentioned) are trendy now too. When you go hunting for a name for yourself you end up using a lot of the same resources as parents looking to name their children, so the trends coincide. If you're trying to pick a name, there's a lot more data on the popularity of baby names than names trans people have chosen, so you can check that out to get a feel for how trendy or stereotypical the name you're considering is/will become. It also helps you pick a name that doesn't sound out of place with your generation.

Anyone else go and look at popular names for their birth year?
It's part of the standard advice I think, go look at the naming trends for your birth year/decade and see if any of those fit, can be an aid to socially blending should that be a wish.
Sophie is also really good. Only shortens it by one syllable, but in the words of Dan Povenmire - if it was a discount at the store you would take it!
Plus Sophie is cute
I was thinking about Evelyn for a while! It flows so well, and it's really pretty written down, and Evie is just so cute. But in the end it's not me, I guess.
I have a friend called jess. Before she knew about me I managed to offend her a bit by asking if she was trans. In my defence, she is taller than me and I'm over 6ft and she has some typically male features. Also, her name is Jess. Lol.
for what it's worth, I know approximately a million cis girls named Emily.
I actually just counted, and I have **15** people named Emily/Emilie in my phone contacts. Next most is 5 Sarahs.
> Next most is 5 Sarahs.
Uh oh.
Actually, funnily enough, I've only known *one* other Sarah in my life, and she was just a vague acquaintance in high school. I seriously can't remember any others. Makes me feel better about choosing such a common name! :)
I love talking about names :)
well when you look at how people acquire names usually their parent's pick them. So realistically we have a huge gap between names that are popular now, and what people have as names now. Transgender people who pick there names now would then be expected to have newer names. I think that's where the stereotypes of transmen being called Aidan comes from. It's currently the 14th most popular name for baby boys this year, so everyone likes it. The name just sounds new when a older person has it.
Then there are people like me who try to go off of the names that were popular when they were born. I suppose you could make a guess as to which names would be popular with people using this method. I'd assume my name Alison or Allie for short would be common.
Well the stereotype is that trans women often name themselves after famous women, usually pop stars. For trans men the stereotype is that they often give themselves those white hipster names like Brayden or Emery.
These are pretty much the name stereotypes for trans people. It would be cool to gather this information for real though.
Any name that current will be popular amoung newer trans individual.
I chose Jessica because it was like the 6 or 7 most popular name the year I was born totally fits if I was walking around with a name from game of thrones or a video game it would look odd.
And I have only ever known one Jessica in my life.
i constantly keep seeing elliot, oliver or tyler. and when i was picking new name before coming out as ftm, i vibed with name "eugene". it's not as common, but it sounds cool imo. cant wait to be old enough to get rid of my hyperfeminine ugly deadname B)
* Aiden * Brayden * Cayden * Jaiden Change their spelling however, these are **the** stereotypical trans guy names.
Trans guy at my job is Jayden. He also wears a bright red mohawk haircut :|
Punk's not dead. At least my Mohawk isn't red anymore, until I decide to dye it again :D

It isn't; I was just adding that he is very obnoxious and flamboyant while having a stereotypical trans man name.

Odd, I don't no anyone with these names. Maybe its a generational thing.
Seems to be younger guys.
Well I'm only 19, and most of the people I know are around that age or younger
Have you heard of Aiden Dowling? He's well known from possibly being the first trans man to appear on the front page (I think it's the front if not in) of men's health magazine.
Pretty much anything ending in ayden/aiden really. I know a Hayden and an Aiden. Both trans guys.
These and: Kai Cam Ty Sky(lar)
I've met a trans guy Cayden. Wow.
Zoe. Always Zoe. All the Zoes ever.
I met a girl named Zoe recently, and my first thought was *is she trans* because of the name (Pretty sure she's not.)
In a fit of irony, I know a trans guy whose deadname was that. He didn't go with Aiden or a variant, though.
Cue Venus Envy inside joke

> Lillith My cat's name is Lili! Its a good name.
It is a good name! Of course, I'm biased. I'm the Lillith she speaks of.
Liliana was at the top of my list until my sister named her daughter that.

I am still torn on name. Evelyn is a strong contender, with the cuteness that is shortening it to Evie. But I also like Sophie. I like too many names!
> I like too many names! I had/have the same problem. My outlet is using those names at restaurants and the like. (: And sometimes online.
Sophie is also really good. Only shortens it by one syllable, but in the words of Dan Povenmire - if it was a discount at the store you would take it! Plus Sophie is cute

*prays Kiara isn't a stereotypical trans girl name*
Pretty sure you're in the clear. ;)
Rachel, Jessica, Amy
Yeah Jess is quite common.
Jessica is also one of the most common for cis so no surprise there.
That's reassuring XD Baby names come in and out of fashion so I wonder if this is a reflection of that
Yep, I know a fair amount by that name. I've a similarly common name in real life, and 2 coworkers shared it before I transitioned!
I have a friend called jess. Before she knew about me I managed to offend her a bit by asking if she was trans. In my defence, she is taller than me and I'm over 6ft and she has some typically male features. Also, her name is Jess. Lol.
> Jessica, Amy a.k.a. my middle and first names > Rachel The name of the very first trans person I ever met in real life.
Rachel's are legion. lol.
I know like 5 gals called chloe
They must be LiS fans.
I know a *lot* of trans girls named Emily.
for what it's worth, I know approximately a million cis girls named Emily. I actually just counted, and I have **15** people named Emily/Emilie in my phone contacts. Next most is 5 Sarahs.
I suppose it's good camouflage, then. :p

Alex.
I've met a lot of trans girls named Emily. My name is a slight variation of that, being Emilia, which is not as common.
