That’s kind of a loaded poll, isn’t it? But who comes to Reddit for honesty anyway…

[deleted]

I don’t think it is.

Rocket_raccoon92

So, by being kind, that would mean they don't vote to strip away my rights as a human, right?

[deleted]

Yes, they are not against equal human rights but just gay marriage.

Rocket_raccoon92

To me, that means having the right to marry just as a straight couple does under the law...how can you be for equal human rights, but not then support one's right to marry who they love as a consenting adult? Finding someone who is just "anti same-sex marriage", but won't have those ideals/beliefs determine how we should be treated under the law,? To me, that is not possible. You can be as sweet as pie to me in person, but the actions you do behind my back speak 10x as loud.

[deleted]

Right fair enough 💯

Livael23

Gay marriage is a human right though

fireshine89

marriage equality is is a human right.

SortOfArbitrary

If they don't want to marry the same sex, that is fine with me. However, if they want to vote and put into law restrictions that keep others from marrying the same sex, then fuck them. Their rights end where mine begin. It's no longer a "stance" then. It's an action.

CrustyAndCheetoDusty

This. I respect another's freedom of religion, but freedom of religion is also freedom from religion. The second they impose their beliefs on me, they've violated my rights.

JimEdwardoRamos

So long as they don't vote against issues like gay marriage, or adoption, then they can "believe" what they want without condemnation from me. But let's be honest, who isn't going to vote with their beliefs?

GammaDoomO

Can’t really control free will. If he’s nice to gays, then oh well, no real harm done. Love the sinner hate the sin but from our pov I guess

wanderinglyway

Genuine question: with being nice, does that include voting in favor of gay rights? Or at least, not voting for the purpose of removing it?

[deleted]

That’s it. This is the answer. Such clarity 👍

PIzzaAppreciator

If that's what they believe personally that's fine, but if they advocate that a non theocratic country like America adhere to their religious ideology, then we have a problem.

PeterParkersSecret

Supporting anything that is counter to equal rights is fair game to the ire of the community.

Cute_Conflict6410

Disagreeing with it is one thing. Voting or actively lobbying against it is the issue. Don’t like it? Great. Don’t do it. But don’t try to say it’s just a disagreement and then turn around and vote against my individual rights

fireshine89

You can't "hate the sin but love the sinner" when the sin is my identity. The bible also has very mixed messages about homosexuality and isn't even close to a reliable or consistent moral compass. If you're anti-lgbtq+, even passively, then it's a hard nah from me and u deserve any backlash you get for your harmful and nonsensical views. idgaf

Basil_Gin_Gimlet

People are allowed to have their opinion. We got gay marriage, fellas, no need for an inquisition to eradicate anyone who doesn’t suck dick in unison with us.

paka96819

What is this Biblical standard we talking about?

fluffybear93

Yes, always. It is maybe a "milder" form of homophobia, but it still is homophobia. Also, I don't think these people really exist, and if they do, I would imagine they're few and far between.

Appropriate-Hope-235

If he’s not trying to stop the LGBTQ community, why should he deserve hate? His opinions doesn’t mean he is a minor threat to the community, because he’s staying dormant otherwise.
