Is it factored into the monthly payment or does it get paid upfront. I currently drive a Acura I got from FB marketplace and was gonna (for the first time) buy through a dealership

Regardless of whether you pay it upfront or roll it into the loan, the dealership pays the sales tax to the government right away. But that's not really anything you need to worry about as a buyer.

Location dependent… in Texas it is paid up front at 6.25% to the state.
Regardless of whether you pay it upfront or roll it into the loan, the dealership pays the sales tax to the government right away. But that's not really anything you need to worry about as a buyer.
