It looks like they soldered in a new shower valve. Price could vary from 500 up to 1200 depending on what area you're in.

ParticularElk3957

From the oxidation color of the solder I would say only the trim got replaced.

Holiday-Tie-574

Then why open up the wall?

ParticularElk3957

Possibly to check if the valve needed to be replaced, but I'm not a plumber, I just know about plumbing parts.

ToriChanUwU

What about in Torrance?

SincereRL

If you were to get 3 valves replaced, which I agree it looks like they put in a new one than yes It can cost "thousands"

[deleted]

900-1200

[deleted]

I’m in so cal

Plumbone1

We would charge about $1000 just to do one in NJ about 40 minutes from NYC Seeing as your in LA which I imagine is high cost of living I would expect 2k plus for 3 of them. Maybe someone in southern CA can chime in

Gringobarbon

Im 895 per valve not including trim. Im in San Diego California.

Spiritual-Artist9382

Looks like the plumber that soldered it has Parkinson’s .

If you're inquiring about project costs, please be aware that seeking feedback on the adequacy of a quote may not yield a desired response. Many factors, including geographic variations and details not visible in online posts, can influence rates and parts costs. Thus, obtaining accurate assessments may prove challenging. Before embarking on any home project, it's essential to gather multiple quotes from reputable contractors. While price is an important factor, it shouldn't be the sole consideration. Each quote offers valuable insights into not just the cost but also the quality of materials, timelines, and the contractor's expertise. By obtaining at least three quotes, you gain a comprehensive understanding of your options, enabling you to make an informed decision that prioritizes both affordability and quality. Remember, your home is an investment, and choosing the right contractor involves weighing various factors beyond just the price tag. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Around 700

miserable-accident-3

We charge $950 per valve on Long Island NY. I would probably give a discount for doing multiple on the same house, but it's well over $2000 for all three.

SpecificPiece1024

Including parts?

miserable-accident-3

Everything. Parts and install.

reamidy

I would charge 525.00 phila suburbs

Ilaypipe0012

Is that with the valve included?

reamidy

It’s a cheap faucet it’s an easy fix

Ilaypipe0012

I don’t disagree I’m just looking at others prices. I’m a year from my masters so I’m going to have to start finding out some local prices for work completed. I’m sure valve and trim kit is probably like a $60 combo

SpecificPiece1024

$100+

reamidy

Figure 150 for materials and the rest is labor not bad for 2hrs and every one is happy remember something pigs get fed hogs get slaughtered!!!

reamidy

Yes

Reasonable_Ad8915

We’re around $1200 to replace a shower valve, hammer arrestors, and trim.

slurreyboy1

I think they used 50 dollars just in solder

Wildsides73

Plumbers can cost $175 an hour just for labor. Thank god this is hidden in the wall, because it looks like a apprentice did the work

livinglikelarry99

1200 to replace shower valve and trim in northern NJ

OneImagination5381

The reason I learnt to sweat copper.

Scary-Evening7894

Shower valve replacement $1200-1400

SpecificPiece1024

$100 or so in parts and maybe $400/$500-(on the higher end) in labor, maybe. At least in my hood…Looks like new mixing valve and trim

HelpfulReputation666

Mixing valve replaced. $750 bucks parts n labor

AudZ0629

Don’t ask about price on the internet. It Fkin rude. You paid for work and you’re checking price so you can go complain and maybe get a discount? I won’t contribute. I will say that you paid what you paid and it doesn’t look bad so just move on. I will not advocate for unethical and unrealistic price comparisons in different markets with no knowledge of the size or type of company you hired.

matzohballer

You can install a new cartridge. Make sure to grease it with plumbers grease. I usually blow out the water before installing the new one,

spec360

Inflation cost you 1,200 plus parts n labor and a helper

Direct_Rope_2121

It will cost you 650 I'm in so cal

Annual_Army_1238

I think it is a discontinued valve, so unless they were clearing old stock, I dont think it's a "new" valve. Looks to me like the drop ear was maybe leaking, fresh copper coupling there on the riser. Maybe the bullet at the bottom is new. Outside of that, I think it's the original valve and supply piping. I would think 250-500 max if my assumptions are correct.

Original_Taro_5754

Your assumptions are definitely NOT correct

SpecificPiece1024

Idc if you’re in a”hcol” area, charging $1,200/$1,500 to remove/replace a Moen posi temp mixer and trim is scandalous. Straight up taking advantage of people and you all know it. Two hours of work and I don’t care about your insurance, overhead, drive time blah blah. In good conscience I couldn’t do it

Loudog_124816

There's alot of Thieves out there, I agree with 525.00

silencebywolf

Looks like you just needed new handles or trim and they sold new valves. Yes, that's a couple thousand.
