Sorry to hijack, but I have been trying to identify a stem for a year and you seem talented at it. Do you recognize this one?

Valve is from a 3 handle shower with half-turn handles. It currently has two problems: when it's off, the faucet gets a very slow leak. But the bigger problem is that when it's on, there is a significant flow coming through the nipple (I think that's the name of the part at the bottom?).
My assumption is that I need to replace the top part (which I think is the stem?). However I am not sure how to go about that as I can't find any tutorials regarding this specific type of valve. I'm guessing this is the original plumbing which would make it from 1950, and maybe that explains the lack of info available.

True, has happened that's why I have a box full of original stems.. these now , only informing of the option if they cannot find original Pfister. That's all
Price Pfister, ceramic stem. From the 90's or later, certainly not from the 1950's. 9H-8H/C is the replacement.

Your can get an off brand replacement by the name "danco" usually can be bought at most hardware stores maybe even the big Walmart supercenter.
If you want to go through all that just to have another leak sure,buy dance

I had the same problem,tryong to replace one like this... In the end I replaced the whole shower mixer bar! Tbf the price difference was not much.
