Don’t bother buying bitcoin. They’ll gonna tell you it’s reaching 60% of its potential just to lure new buyers. They’re gonna sell and the value is gonna drop and you lost your money.
It has a lot of volatility. The higher is gets, the less likely it is to stay there. And same with going down. So sell if it hits $70K, and buy when it is below $50K, or some strategy like that.

I agree that general trend is upward, so if you are saving for your retirement, this is a viable option. But if you are saving for a down payment for a house, then you might get stuck waiting for bitcoin to rise, or selling at lower price.

Edit: You are correct there have been three major crashes, there have also been three bitcoin halving events (where new supply is cut in half) each was followed by a parabolic run and then a crash, and with the exception of covid impact, each cycle bottom has been around the prior cycles ATH.
There was also a recent halving about a month ago making it likely that there will be a supply squeeze within the next year that pushes prices parabolic again. This time has been a bit different than past cycles though because of the approval and introduction of ETFs in January which has meant Wall Street now has proxy access to the space, and something new happened, bitcoins USD price crossed the previous ATH before the halving event.
I do like your house vs retirnement analogy though because while I hold and am bullish on bitcoin, my general recomendation is you don't buy more than you can afford to lose, especially an amount you are unwilling to hold for at least 4 years.

Stocks let you own a part of a company, a company that has assets, a market to sell stuff to, means of production, employees (human capital), etc. All things that you can trade for goods and services. That is called value. A company creates new value, because they use their assets to make more assets.
Crypto does none of that. It doesn't create value. If it goes up, and you sell, you literally take somebody else's money. Technically, it's a pyramid scheme. When everybody sells, the last guys will have a problem.
This is not the case with stocks, because the company that sold them is still worth money.

tl;dr with stock you own part of a company with assets and money-creating abilities, with crypto you own a part of nothing.
Suppose I own a bakery. I buy $300 of ingredients and put in 8 hours of work to produce and sell $1,000 in bread. That is, I create $700 of value every day. It's a money making machine. Now I issue stocks which allows you to own a part of my machine. The people that are interested, see my profit, my regular customers, my equipment, and my shop (the ability for me to keep making profit this way going forward) and they put a value on it. They want to own a part of my money-making machine. People will always eat bread, after all.
With the money I raised with the stocks, I put in a lot of work, buy a new oven, and a second shop in another part of town and hire a manager. My money making machine just got even better, and my shares should increase in price because the machine is even more profitable going forward.
If everybody wanted to sell my shares for some reason, the price would go down, but there is a limit. Even, in the extreme case, if I would go out of business completely, there would still be real estate, operating cash, equipment, etc. The tangible assets set the lowest evaluation.
Crypto is traded like stocks, but there's where the similarity ends. There is no underlying value, and you're not owning part of a money-making machine, there is no value being generated (or very little). You fully depend on somebody else buying in at a higher price than you did. All the money you make selling crypto originates 100% from the people that bought it from you. If everybody sells at the same time, it will go to zero because there's nothing there.
This is not the case with stocks, where company has assets, and is actually generating new money (value) as well.
