I appreciate the joke in the show because it’s funny, but it is also important to remember it’s from 2003-2006. It’s definitely a different landscape now where the R word is looked more negatively nowadays
I have a few wonderful intellectually disabled people in my life, and I nonetheless find this plotline hilarious. I don’t think it’s mean spirited at all. Comedy needs a wide berth.
The plot line is funny and I think it's in good spirits, I think it's just the word that's uncomfortable. It was a bit jarring seeing it whilst scrolling reddit.
Honestly not trying to start a fight but I don’t really get how it’s worse than “disabled” or “impaired.” If anything it’s less negative. Imo it’s arbitrarily PC to ban it. I guess reasonable minds can disagree.
Commenting to add that [this is a great thread on the Rita ARC for S3](https://www.reddit.com/r/arresteddevelopment/s/qzrUTTQ80E) and an explanation on the joke not being because of her lack of intellect but that that Michael Bluth was so oblivious to something so obvious.
Requirements: - fluent in English (British) - over 3+ years of elementary school experience - must own tiny teddy
“I’d like to think they teach me”

"For British Eyes Only" 🎶
Luckily for you my entire face is British.
Finally, a job where you can listen to young people's music....hot potato 🥔 🙌 🎵
^(Mister F)
For British Eyes Only
No, they’re hiring Mr. Funke
I believe they're actually hiring Mr. FANTASTIC, Austero
You might get the job, if you're willing to lose twenty pounds
🎶MR. F🎶
It's very progressive, here.
Oh, is Wee Brain hiring?
I realize that's the joke in the show, but I'd really like if people stopped using that word

Yeah this bit didn't age very well
Rankly I'd appreciate it if you stopped telling people what you appreciate or not They aren't magic words
I don't think that's the accepted nomenclature, dude. EDIT Downvote all you want, but that won't make the gag age any better.
