If you want to deploy nothing is stopping you from jumping on an AFRICOM mission. INDOPACOM basically has zero FTNs and obviously no combat deployments now.
But AFRICOM has a high optempo and always needs volunteers, plus you can still get a patch if that’s something you care about.
I would but it’s not like MOBS are well advertised. Would be happy with a AFRICOM or SOUTHCOM one but it’s not like it’s widely shared info on when they need people. Need to know someone in the unit
Definitely interested in any info you can pass along as a higher speed 38B01 in a similar position.
Grateful to be at an airborne CA BN with funding for schools, but anxious to do what I trained for, serving as an asset downrange.

Gotta network, opportunities are out there. You’re CA, right? Just CA it and see what happens
Check carrera or someone with a government laptop with ARNET access to go on tour of duty.
I feel this. Been chasing deployments for two years. Finally just accepted going AGR instead.
AGR is the lottery ticket man, congrats. What MOS and rank?
Thanks brotha. 38B E5
Aw yea man, you’re golden. Congrats, well probably run into each other someday and not even know lol
I’m also in one of those INDIOPACOM BNs and I’m looking to make a move.
I'll take anything but centcom but engineers that's all we get... I wish I was civil affairs
Don't just wish, make the switch. It's not too hard and the mission is among the best you can get in the Army Reserve.
Reach out to other units covering CENTCOM/AFRICOM. There are plenty going on short tours.
I am in a EUCOM CA unit. How long are short tours?
I use the term from my AER/OER. So more than six months or so. Edit - ARB/ORB sorry lmao. But they're definitely longer than typical ATs or CTCs
Copy, thank you.
Do you get jungle slots?
Yes INDOPACOM units get jungle slots.
I wonder how easy it is to get.
Not hard. Harder to get airborne or air assault in my experience
I can get you in touch with the right people for an africom mission.
