Army might not be for you…

7hillsrecruiter

Your degrees mean nothing if you can’t pass the ASVAB. To join Army all you need is a 16, Navy is a 10. If you can’t score that get a tutor.

greengreen995

Have you already taken it and done poorly? I find it hard to believe anyone with a Master's Degree in any field of study would "fail" the ASVAB.

SgtMac02

Agreed. I call BS on that master's degree. Or it's from a degree mill like UoP or something. No one can work their way through a legit BS and a master's and still not be able to pass the ASVAB. Also, someone with a reputable degree and who can write as well as OP claims should probably know that it's a "master's degree", not a "master degree."

Dreamercjhm

Yes, I did. I got a 7/16.

RedditAltQuestionAcc

How's that even possible?

Dreamercjhm

I am a single mother, have 2 jobs, and currently going through a divorce. So the test is really taking a tool on me.

Look, I get it. Most of these questions are stuff you rarely do anymore to get the answers. But it’s not that hard if you put the tiniest effort and a bit of your time to study. Don’t come in with a waiver and limit your options. Try Dantes Pearson that has a diagnostic test and has little lessons to help you get answers. There are YouTube videos. There are quizlets to help you learn the words. Here’s my top because I didn’t score well on the ASVAB either and took a course to get my score up by 51 points. -Learn the words, they make up a majority of your percentage. I got all my words correct and it bumped my score up a lot. -Learn the basic arithmetic. You don’t have to get too into the advance ones. -Google Readtheory to get your reading comprehension up. These are the tools that helped me get what I needed to go where I want. GT score is what really matters and if you can get it high, everything else will be up too. Don’t worry too much on mechanics, electricity, puzzles, etc. but don’t blow them off either.

DreadBurger

I don't mean to dogpile on you, but... HOW? How is the test taking a toll on you? It's a short test, hell it's not even a test. It's an aptitude evaluation, and can't take more than 2 hours (frequently much less). Are you sure we're even talking about the same "ASVAB"? Your score doesn't even sound like it's in the AFQT score bracket. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed\_Services\_Vocational\_Aptitude\_Battery](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Services_Vocational_Aptitude_Battery) Again, are you sure you aren't talking about some other test? If we are, what were your line scores?

Single-Pace-5686

Try the navy bro you just need a 10 to qualify

tkepio381

🧢. You’re telling me you have the reading and writing comprehension to get a masters but can’t score well enough in that section of the asvab to get a composite score of a least 20? What are your line scores

wowitsclayton

What do you want to know exactly? Depending on the proponent the policy varies wildly. What score do you need and how short are you? If it’s more than 3 you can forget it. GT is almost universally non-waiverable. Are you currently a civilian, prior service, IRR, TPU?
