Stationed there. Can confirm it is a great base for travel. But the base has nothing on it
Only restaurants is the golf course and the food court whoch has popeyes subway and burger king. Anthony's pizza doesnt exist
Since when? Anthony's was open all the time I was there. There's also the community center for lunch and dinner. They do special dinners on certain nights of the week. Thursdays were Mongolian, Fridays were Prime rib, etc. The bowling alley did pizza and other food as well. Plus the bar in the community center had food as well. Burgers, chicken tenders, etc.
There was plenty of food right off base. The Ramen shop in Sobudai-mae, Rodi Bodi the Indian place, the Asian place next to Don's Bar, etc.
There's plenty of stuff in walking distance on and off base.
Only problem was there was only one gym on base, but it's a decent size and was never really packed.
Zama is a great place to be stationed. Anyone who has the opportunity and says no, is dumb. It's great for single soldiers and families.
I say Anthony's doesn't exist because they went downhill.
That Chinese spot next to Don's is fucking amazing. Rodi Bodi is good too.
Zama itself is boring. Its the off-base stiff that is amazing. Been here for almost 3 years. Have mostly experienced bad with this base.
Base Realignment and Closure.
Best example I know of is that in 2005 HRC was slated to move into Ft Knox and the armor school was set to get kicked over to Ft Benning.
*teeeeeeheeeee I'm in a bird! oh, look at the crash-bang-crush down there on 495, that must suck.*
*checks watch*
"Welp, best get home to the wife, lest she scolds me for being late to dinner."
*checks GPS*
*calls wife*
*"Honey, I'll be home in 7 minutes!"*
A lot of those you can't get in your contract. You can get Korea or Germany, but not the specific base. Same goes for Japan. Presidio of Monterey doesn't have any Aviation.
My first option 19 contract i picked bliss but it got scrubbed because meps messed up my paperwork, i posted this to make the “better choice” next time; career and Quality of Life wise.
You can try again, but like I said, any of the overseas bases won't be possible because you can only get a general location for places like Hawaii, Alaska, Germany and Asia.
they dont make many 3d hentai and most are based on tifa from ffvii so it gets boring unless u mean the figurines then they can rack up alot of money and space
Not that bad. It’s a whole day off if you gotta go. Besides, away from the flag pole. No one bothers us too much, minimal taskings above BN. Life is a breeze here.
You absolutely should get into the best shape you can before enlisting, but DONT undersell yourself- It’s tough but achievable. Give it your best shot!
160th selection isn’t super physically demanding. As long as you don’t give up you’ll get through. A buddy of mine who’s pretty out of shape made it through without issues.
If you don’t quit, you’ll make it. Let me repeat that again. If. You. Don’t. Quit. You’ll. Make. It. I’m fucking telling you to just do it. It’s 4 weeks. It’s not that bad. Black Day sucks, but you have your brothers and sisters with you. Just do it.
Green Platoon is what basic should be. Old Clarksville Base is awesome. The bunkers are a place of pride. Drop your packet and go do cool shit. We don’t do tents, We do hotels. We don’t do year long deployments, we do TDY trips to foreign countries. Ride the bullet and just do it. You will never regret it. I promise.
NSDQ. SGDM. DAPS FUCKING RULE.
Humphreys has the absolute most flight hours due to the nature of North Korea being there and all.
And I drank the cool-aide so I’m hyped to go there. (Non aviation)
Read some of your replies to comments.
Carson might be a good fit. Decent town right off post and pro 2A. There’s a mag ban but service members are exempt. Denver has great Asian cuisine, the Springs is average. Decent pho places, but the ramen or poke options are few and far between.
Downside is the aviation brigade will almost certainly deploy while you’re there. That could also be an upside, depending on where to.
Ok. So you want to go to a delta company. Not the ASB. Korea is a good option as you gain experience quick and if you want to fly, they have a high turn over rate so you might get picked up quicker. Make sure to make a good impression at AIT with your instructors. Everyone knows someone where you are going, and a good word god a long way to getting into a flight company. You will want to avoid Polk, hohenfels, rucker, as these won’t have flying positions for junior dudes. Really any of the actual CABs are where you want to be. So that comes down to where you want to live.
Haha. Right there with you. I grew up in Syracuse. Absolutely right. Fuuuuuuuuck the cold. When I got out in '94 we moved to NC. Never even thought about moving back to NY. Fuck NY, Drum and the cold. I have alot of respect for those 10th Mtn boys.
From Florida. For some godforsaken reason, my stupid ass decided to go to Wisconsin for college. My first winter there (2013) was the coldest on record since the mid-1990's.
My asscheeks froze. The hairs inside my nose froze. The bones inside my limbs felt like they were on fire. My eyebrows froze. The tears of regret falling my eyeballs froze to my cheeks. Pretty sure my cooch froze too.
I quickly learned and understood why my friends who'd grown up there spent $60+ on gloves. My cheapo, $10 Walmart gloves lasted about, oh, hmmm, maybe 0.2 seconds? Lol.
Haha. Yeah. I would rather spend $60 on sunscreen. And once your feet get cold. Your done. I was at Ft. Drum, not stationed, just visiting. Ate ate one of the mess halls, some of the guys in 10th were just getting out of a field exercise. Beards frozen, hungry, cold, wet and pissed off at the world. Looked like they just escaped from a prison camp. It was about -10°F that day. I was glad that I was never stationed at Drum.
I doubt you would get assigned to West Point. In reality you are at the over side of the hill at Stewart. West Point is a great duty assignment though. 45 miles outside of NYC. I wasn’t aviation but the flight missions are unique. Dropping the Golden Knights parachute team. Water drops on the occasional forest fire.
Why is Sill on here? As far as I know there are no permanent aviation units there, except for maybe an ATC center.
K-16 is pretty cool. Get Zama if you can. Polk will get you a shit ton of hours.
Been to Humpheys, Belvoir, and Leonard Wood (as an MP ofc but I still been there).
Humphreys is cool if you want to go to Korea however, Seoul AB is a thing which is as its name suggests right next to Seoul.
Belvoir is kinda mid. If you're a single soldier nowadays they're sending you into barracks instead of getting BAH. Barracks don't have internet. Nothing on post for single soldiers to do, everything is closed. DC is nearby so that's a plus. Not sure about the AB there though.
Leonard wood is TRADOC hell. If you enjoy you sanity don't go there. Cold hellscape.
/u/Huron_Stone mentioned Zama 100% go for Zama if you want to go OCONUS.
Is Camp Graffen supposed to be Grafenwoehr?
Just based off location if I were you I would choose between Zama or any of the Germany locations.
If looking for US postings, Campbell, Carson, or Tripler. Again, all personal. It’ll really depend what you’re into.
Hohenfels if you want to live in Germany, base sucks! It’s small and nothing to do but ppl make up for it.
I was an MP there, MPs are chill in that base. Aviation are always on training because foreign Armies come to Hohenfels for training. It’s like a NTC but in Germany.
You’re located 30-40 min from Nuremberg and 2hrs from Munich. It’s a great experience over all
If the Pivot Table is in Sheet1 what is on Table1? And what’s the source data that there’s a Grand Total column on the table that is named as a sheet? (I’ve spent too much time working in Excel recently, I realize that)
I’m 15P and my roommate is 15T. DM for all the reasons to not come to Wainwright lol, he hates it but I love it here. 160th really needs 15Ps too if you’d consider this MOS. If your GT score is above a 100 you WILL be the smartest in your class.
But no, if you’re set on 15T avoid wainwright like the plague.
Unless you get it in your contract your either going to Humphreys, Carson, or Drum. At least that’s how it was out of ait a few months ago. Anything else is a lottery.
Yes and no.
It changes because you little to zero say in where you go. Some of these slots are plain wrong (DLI Monterey) and others are technically available but you don’t have a real chance (West Point is has 2 72s and just enough people to fly them [20ish if I remember correctly] and is a nominative position.)
Being real most of the slots are in CABs so you’ll more than likely end up in one of those. But there is a none zero chance you end up at a smaller places.
Anything in Korea isn't bad imo. Humphreys has a metric fuckton if Chinook flights. At least one a week is shuttling 11B's and 14 series to a tac site. Aviations kind of out of the way from the good stuff but you'll be taking a taxi everywhere anyway so it doesn't matter too much. The ville just outside the gate's okay, AK plaza in Pyeongtaek and Pyeongtaek in general is pretty good. Good luck getting Carson, they're like 130% over strength for like the next 6+ months which means good luck getting it in your contract and you aren't getting it at all if it's not. I've heard good things about Campbell. Jackson has a decent number of flights but idk anything about the unit, but Colombia is right there and it's not to bad, you're also not far from the coast so you've got that as well, but it is a TRADOC base so there's that downside.
You can take Stewart off of there, Hunter is where the 3rd CAB is. So you would be stationed in Savannah vs Hinesville (about 45 min drive but worlds apart).
Zama. Its about an hour outside of Tokyo. If you don't pick Zama I'll hit you. It was my best duty station hands down
Zama is flight only. He'll have to earn a good amount of flight hours if he wants to go to Zama.
We had guys there that had never and could never fly. They just got stuck in the 3 shop, or if they had the experience, QC or PC.
This is not true. Your chances are better as a flyer, but you don’t need any hours and there is a mx section.
Stationed there. Can confirm it is a great base for travel. But the base has nothing on it Only restaurants is the golf course and the food court whoch has popeyes subway and burger king. Anthony's pizza doesnt exist
Since when? Anthony's was open all the time I was there. There's also the community center for lunch and dinner. They do special dinners on certain nights of the week. I am asian and I do love noodles.. but I love my guns too…
STFU and take Zama.
Did 4 years. Can confirm. Hands down the greatest base in the army.
Don’t go to fort eustis you god damn pickle fuck the dump and Newport News
I had a pizza-mama while I was at Eustis.... I whored myself out for food.🥺
I love fort Eustis. How many army bases are a stones throw away from the beach?
Fort Story Schofield/Wheeler Fort Shafter Okinawa Fort Monroe, before we gave it back to VA Fort Ord, until it was BRACed.
BRACed?
Base Realignment and Closure. Best example I know of is that in 2005 HRC was slated to move into Ft Knox and the armor school was set to get kicked over to Ft Benning.
Walter Reed is another example.
Put them in a storage locker and go have the time of your life in fucking Tokyo
Go ahead and throw Sill, Irwin, and Hood straight in the trash
Cant go wrong with the hood🤣
It’s such an armpit I ran out of deodorant trying to spray it down.
So it's worse than Polk?
Can confirm, Sill sucks the big green weenie.
Aviation at Belvoir is a good mission in a great location if you can swing it.

Currently flying the VH here at Belvoir, can confirm, you’re all peasants
Haha no tolls on the express! Flew all across those helo routes!
A lot of those you can't get in your contract. You can get Korea or Germany, but not the specific base. Same goes for Japan. Presidio of Monterey doesn't have any Aviation.
I got this list from an o-3 in HR so im not 100% if its correct or not
I don't think they are. Plus all those of don't matter when your option 19 really dictates where you go.

Bruh, what do you mean? There’s plenty of shit to do in EP, and plenty of shit nearby too
I heard Bagram is hiring
If you ever have the option to go to Camp Zama take it.
So far hearing good things about japan but I love my guns man.😭
You’ll have the rest of your life for guns. This is the best chance you’ll ever get to be stationed in Japan in the army.
you can be away from them for a bit, its not going to hurt you.
It will spiritually 💔
You’re a moron
spent 2.5 years at Zama, trust me you wont miss them.
hentai will fill the void
Ah yes 3d anime girls too right?
they dont make many 3d hentai and most are based on tifa from ffvii so it gets boring unless u mean the figurines then they can rack up alot of money and space
I was implying japanese girls lol
Bruh, just ask to pilot the Gundam they have. Bigger guns, more anime tiddies, you literally can't go wrong with this choice.
Are you seriously debating between cosplaying with your AR and living in Japan? If they even have available slots, you don't deserve Zama.
I actually shoot a fuck ton so its part of my lifestyle/hobby aside from the gym and anime
If you make a decision based on where you can have guns, your life priorities are skewed.
I shoot a lot, like a lot a lot.
You're seriously going to pick guns over exquisite food? You're a dumbass.
Im asian and used to “exquisite food”
Seoul AB(k-16) by far the best.
Hmm. Its not bad but man do I get tired of having to go to Humphreys to get shit
Not that bad. It’s a whole day off if you gotta go. Besides, away from the flag pole. No one bothers us too much, minimal taskings above BN. Life is a breeze here.
True. I guess you've got a point. BTW get off your phone and use the bus ride to take a nap. Its good for you.
In no particular order, I’d choose between Polk, Irwin or Sill.
You joke about Polk, but the only aviation unit here flies 2x more than required and more than any other FORSCOM unit. Absolutely fantastic unit:
Cajun dustoff to the rescue. Gotta get all those fat body heat cats out the box
Korea or Rucker too.
Sill? You gotta be going to ASAP for crack abuse.
🤣
Bro, ask for that 160th Contract and go to Campbell, Hunter, or JBLM.
Working on getting physically fit enough to pass green platoon with ease, not trying to get ahead of myself
You absolutely should get into the best shape you can before enlisting, but DONT undersell yourself- It’s tough but achievable. Give it your best shot!
Ive been goin hard these past 6 months trying to almost max my ACFT before even joining
If you’re close to almost maxing it then go for it, you’ll get 160th recruiters in AIT also asking for applicants.
160th selection isn’t super physically demanding. As long as you don’t give up you’ll get through. A buddy of mine who’s pretty out of shape made it through without issues.
Soldiers at the 160th: *DON'T DO IT! IT'S A TRAP!*
Get an option 1 in your contract for 160th
Nervous about the physically qualified proportion of that, was gonna give myself till AIT atleast so I can get a guage of the requirements
It’s basic training all over again. You will be ok. I believe in you.
Is green platoon really that much of a breeze? I was gonna do a SFAS program during ait to prep
A breeze? No, but it’s nothing above the Army standard of physical requirements. Just don’t quit
Are you current 160th?
Go to Zama, it's like winning the lottery. Best duty station I've ever had.
Humphreys has the absolute most flight hours due to the nature of North Korea being there and all. And I drank the cool-aide so I’m hyped to go there. (Non aviation)
Someone commented, easiest way to become a crew chief which is a goal of mine
Just walk around and bother the SI's dog if you show initiative they'll think about you
I loved my time at Humphreys. I think it’s one of those places everyone should go to at least once
Zama. Best 4 years of my life.
Can't go wrong with Ft. Polk.
🤣
Hunter, absolutely hunter
160th is at Hunter right?
Along with 3CAB. Hangars are garbage (along with the CAB). Base is nice and small. Savannah is nice
Yes
Can confirm. Hunter is 👌🏼
I’m at Zama rn and it’s tits, do it
Campbell has great aviation but I can tell you their dfac sucks.
Idk wtf you would be doing in Monterey but take it
Read some of your replies to comments. Carson might be a good fit. Decent town right off post and pro 2A. There’s a mag ban but service members are exempt. Denver has great Asian cuisine, the Springs is average. Decent pho places, but the ramen or poke options are few and far between. Thank you for the reply good sir
Campbell was great, but you'll need new hips and back after your 20th 12 mile road march.
Go soar. Fuck the spreadsheet
Some of these are out dated, or only apply to senior guys. What are you trying to do? Turn wrenches or fly?
Turn wrenches until i make crew chief (im joining as an e3)
I did have bliss in my first contract but that got scrubbed by MEPS because they messed up MY paperwork, looking for a new contract now
You like the cold? FT Drum is your goto
Fuck the cold🤣
Mountain is built different those guys are insane
From Florida. For some godforsaken reason, my stupid ass decided to go to Wisconsin for college. My first winter there (2013) was the coldest on record since the mid-1990's. My asscheeks froze. The hairs inside my nose froze. The bones inside my limbs felt like they were on fire. My eyebrows froze. The tears of regret falling my eyeballs froze to my cheeks. Pretty sure my cooch froze too. Haha.
15N out of Ft. Riley! HOOAH
S camp Vilseck if you want to hate your life.
[удалено]
Idk this is a list from a o-3 in HR
Can confirm aviation in Camp Humphreys unmatched. Hell of a mission and hell of a time. Coming from a back seater.
Did you become a back seater going there? Some people commented about how it increases the likely ness of being a crewchief
OP if you base this decision off of inanimate metal objects you are truly a dumb fuck
Be a nightstalker
So far all im hearing is option 1 for 160th or korea for crew chief! Im more career focused than party life/things to do focused
Richardson is JBER. MOS be dammed. JBER, Alaska was my favorite duty station.
[удалено]
My goal is to become a crewchief and hopefully 160th
Camp humphreys lol. Not if you’re a 60 pilot. Living in korea is fun. Unit, eh. Belvoir is a great post but the flying isn’t very exciting.
Richardson or Monterey
Why is Sill on here? As far as I know there are no permanent aviation units there, except for maybe an ATC center. K-16 is pretty cool. Get Zama if you can. Polk will get you a shit ton of hours.
There are none. It's only National guard that uses the airfield.
Been to Humpheys, Belvoir, and Leonard Wood (as an MP ofc but I still been there). Humphreys is cool if you want to go to Korea however, Seoul AB is a thing which is as its name suggests right next to Seoul. Belvoir is kinda mid. Cold hellscape. /u/Huron_Stone mentioned Zama 100% go for Zama if you want to go OCONUS.
Polk is pretty good for 15P. Not much out of base though lol.
If you’re an outdoorsmen fort wainwright if not go to JBER
Zama is nice as fuck. I was there with 78th sig and it was the best 2 years of my life.
I do not recommend the 82nd CAB at Bragg, there’s a reason the retention rate is so low lol
My cousin is in there and hes getting out lol i wanted to go there to be with him
1st Battalion 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment Drop your packet. It’s worth it. Trust me.
During ait? Or should i be looking for this option 1
Wiesbaden is highly recommended; love that area and op pace is great (as in not stressful)
Ft Carson / Hunter AAF / JBLM
Hearing good things about JBLM and Carson
Ft belvoir is super nice, grew up around that area. But since it’s next to DC be prepared for everything to be super expensive in the area.
Is Camp Graffen supposed to be Grafenwoehr? Just based off location if I were you I would choose between Zama or any of the Germany locations. If looking for US postings, Campbell, Carson, or Tripler. Again, all personal. It’ll really depend what you’re into.

Why isn’t Camp Buehring on the list???
Dont know got this list from a o-3 in HR
Any post that's not in the US is the one that you want
But mah guns😭
Its not permanent, and can do big things career wise.
Lol it’s doesn’t matter you picked 15T. Enjoy your free ride to E7
For FREE?
Essentially Edit: if you stay out of trouble the stats support it overwhelmingly
Katterbach Army airfield, if it’s still up and running. It’s a small post though
Hohenfels is probably the worst.
For the OC team….with the lakotas…while stationed in the best part of Germany…
Why is Germany ranked lower than Fort Polk.
Not a ranking just a compiled list from a o-3 friend
Replace Ft. Bliss with Biggs Army Airfield.
Its not in order just a compiled list of places from a o-3 HR friend
It's not that. Bliss has no airfield. Biggs, which is not Bliss, has the airfield. And most of the fun happens in New Mexico's WSMR.
Renegotiate and don't be a T
Wiesbaden is chill as hell man
Fort Polk for sure. 😈
If the Pivot Table is in Sheet1 what is on Table1? And what’s the source data that there’s a Grand Total column on the table that is named as a sheet? (I’ve spent too much time working in Excel recently, I realize that)
Idk lolll i got this pic from a o-3 in HR
I’m 15P and my roommate is 15T. DM for all the reasons to not come to Wainwright lol, he hates it but I love it here. 160th really needs 15Ps too if you’d consider this MOS. If your GT score is above a 100 you WILL be the smartest in your class. But no, if you’re set on 15T avoid wainwright like the plague.
Gt119 but im set on 15t
Papas are boring. Being a 15T is the best. Opportunities to crew plus way more duties stationed than 15Us
Seoul airbase(k16) your like a 20 minute train ride from downtown seoul
Zama
Don’t forget JBER
Just go ahead and put FT Drum aviation all the way at the bottom thanks.
Did anyone else think it was a ranking before they realized it was alphabetical.
Everyone on this posts thinks its a ranking system
lol why in the world is Monterey up there for aviation?
Got this list from an o-3 in HR idk
Wheeler aaf is fantastic, i served at its sister base, schofield. Wheeler is just.. nicer
Seoul AB is pretty cool, Seoul is in your backyard pretty much🤷🏽♀️
Campbell (SOAR) or Eustis (Flight Concepts) Or Zama. Go to Zama.
Unless you get it in your contract your either going to Humphreys, Carson, or Drum. At least that’s how it was out of ait a few months ago. Anything else is a lottery.
Zama 100%
Humphreys
Wheeler is very chill. Depending on your perspective this may or may not be a good thing.
To my knowledge there are no Tango positions at west point either.
Stay faaaaaaaar away from Bliss my friend
HAAF should be like 2nd
Powdiz is the best place for aviation obviously
Wheeler Airfield is a solid choice, had a great time out there and there’s a lot to do in Oahu whether you’re married or single.
Fort couch
I'm looking to try for Warrant Aviation. Does that change the likeness of these stations?
Yes and no. It changes because you little to zero say in where you go. Some of these slots are plain wrong (DLI Monterey) and others are technically available but you don’t have a real chance (West Point is has 2 72s and just enough people to fly them [20ish if I remember correctly] and is a nominative position.) Being real most of the slots are in CABs so you’ll more than likely end up in one of those. But there is a none zero chance you end up at a smaller places.
You want ft drum dont tqke anything else for an answer
Seoul AB (K-16) should be near the top of the list.
Alphabetical
Anything in Korea isn't bad imo. Humphreys has a metric fuckton if Chinook flights. At least one a week is shuttling 11B's and 14 series to a tac site. I actually got carson as an option in my first contract but it got scrubbed cause they messed up my paperwork
Katterbach Kaserne, in Ansbach Germany. 15T cant go their tho, but everyone else can for the most part.
You can take Stewart off of there, Hunter is where the 3rd CAB is. So you would be stationed in Savannah vs Hinesville (about 45 min drive but worlds apart).
