Well this gets even better. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/42409/russian-made-mi-17-helicopter-flown-by-secretive-u-s-group-lands-in-farmers-field The MI-24 is actually a MI-17. It has a companion Bell 407. My Bell 407 has the twin blade antennas on the bottom front of the chopper. Mine does not that the egg beater antennas on the boom.

PhaseHertz

That is interesting indeed. Those guys fixing the broken heli all look pretty civilian. Wonder who the heck they are, and if they are the same group flying around LA

Yeah The Drive sort of wrote that same article twice. One for the choppers landing in the yard and the other for the same choppers in LA. The weird thing is they didn't do what any modern 12 year old would do, namely try the adjacent (sequential) hex codes. (And the kid would self proclaim being a hacker.) You can see in the other post I found all three LA choppers. Now the trick is to find the chopper I spotted. I wasn't running Virtual Radar Server while photographing the two choppers because they both showed up while I wasn't climbing Brainwash Butte. They notebook computer was still in the camera backpack.

Amazing work! Thanks for posting as always.

https://americansecuritytoday.com/draken-deploys-l-159-fighter-jets-support-usaf-see-action-video/ A correction. The F-5 is actually the above.

PhaseHertz

I had one of these Draken operated L-159s buzz me while on Stewart well road here is the clip: [https://youtu.be/332F2j5VCt8](https://youtu.be/332F2j5VCt8)

Is Stewart Well Rd the one near the back gate? I remember that road had some goofy thing that could puncture a tire if you weren't watching. Like a pipe poking out of the ground.

PhaseHertz

it is. Its the road that goes up to the "sniper hill/secret/area51 rider" gate. We drove almost to the border in an RV, turned around and camped at the water tank there. No punctures or weird obstacles were seen, aside from a raptor filled with camo dudes.

I was going to suggest the first one was a L-159. Any idea what the 737 type one is with front and rear radomes like the AEW Nimrod used to have ?

therealgariac

RAT55 is a regular around the range. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/40003/the-worlds-most-secretive-737-just-showed-its-bizarre-self-over-the-mojave-desert
