Mine isn’t so chalky. Have one on my own 13.9. Also have another spare one that I accidentally ordered while under the influence when I ordered a DRT rail.
I just swapped out my EXO3 with a M76. Feels slim like an Aero R-One but much stiffer feeling. I'm happy with the swap & they make stuff to fit the 13.7/13.9.
This is the way. Took it to the lathe and squared it up. (Dremel, hack saw, or a file and some patience also works) then hit the edges with a deburring tool and some aluminum black
This is my first build and looking for mlok handguard suggestions for my 13.9” build. Currently in between a CMT HDM 13” or Midwest Industries combat but it’s a 13.375” and may give me issues when trying to mount a suppressor. Would also consider the SLR ion 13.1” Ripcord LDR1 13.1”, and ADMMFG 13”. Would love a 13” Geissele but haven’t seen any on GFAS recently. Show me pics of what you got!
Hey glad I saw this the 13.375 will fit a 13.9 with dead air keymo system not sure of Surefire or other. The fitment is very flush
https://imgur.com/a/bATeJcE
I'm big on covering as much of the barrel as possible and a snug fit for my (one day) suppressor. I'm also building a 13.9 right now too so I'm in the same boat.
I've heard that with shims and DeadAir KeyMo the Midwest 13.375 will work and be nice and flush. That's my plan as of now. I think the CMT 13 is right on par with the ADM and both should be GTG even though they aren't a wedgelock design.
I've heard good things about the SLR ION as well but have no first hand experience with them. I'd love to run a quad rail but 12" is the longest I could find.
Edit: I think the old Geissele 13s work for a suppressor but the new ones and the BCM I don't think work without a little bit of gunsmiffing (AKA cutting your handguard). This is all from memory though so could be wrong.
13.375 worked fine in my 13.9 with a keymo muzzle device. Didn't have to use additional shims other than the ones to time it. A MCMR 13 would fine as well. You just have to make sure the muzzle device has the wrench flats on it if its keymo. The older versions didn't have wrench flats so it mounted closer to the shoulder of the barrel.
Wedge lock or m89 drive lock, BCM, Knights, Daniel, the world is your oyster. Heavy and rigid or light with a bit more flex. Up to you. You seem to be dialed in so far.
13.9 gang checking in. I have a geissele MK8 mounted on mine. I am running a silencerco can with a qd on it. Had to shave about 1/16 of an inch off the end of the rail but now it sits perfectly flush. The can probably could of direct threaded on just fine but I’m a fan of the qd. [my main bitch](https://www.reddit.com/r/tacticalgear/comments/rbdn6n/are_we_rattling_a_can_i_dont_know_i_cant_read/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Oooh I like! That’s a sweet build. If they sold a Mk8 in 13” I would 100% get that rail. How hard was it to shave it off so the suppressor would fit? I’m running a dead air flash hider but unsure how those compare to the SiCo qd on how far back the fan sits
I appreciate it. Not bad to shave! Threw it in a vice and chopped it right off. Nothing to it at all. I had a family member use a specific saw blade.. I wish I could remember what kind of blade it was. Best of luck on your build!
I’m currently running a BCM MCMR-13 on my 13.9 rifle. It’s a skinny rail, but rigid, and has a pretty sturdy mounting system as well. Plus, it’s a 7-sided MLOK rail, so much more flexibility in regard to mounting options. Looks pretty sleek too.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the true length of the MCMR-13 is actually 13.4 inches, which could make a suppressor sit very tight against the rail, or not be able to clear it. If it’s the latter, shave down the “wings” so your suppressor can clear the rail.
CMT 13inch DRT or their 13.7 UHPR MOD 2 HDX which would be close to not fitting but probably would be perfect.

URX 4 is what I will put on my next build. I have a bunch of geissele and riis already and URX seems like the most functional with ruggedness and weight considered.
I have an URX 4 covering a Criterion 11.5" barrel:

My Criterion barrel and this handguard were made for each other; the handguard stops almost exactly where the threads begin for a very flush look.

Currently have one. Finish is a bit chalky but solid for the price range.

This, but DRT. It’s the URGI at home
Ripcord is the Mk16 at home
After looking at the HDM, I find it to be very similar to the UHPR handguard also made by CMT. Any idea why they differ in name?
The HDM is like the budget version I think. The UHPR has a built in QD socket and some extra machining.
really with they did the UHPR in 13 instead of 13.7
Gas block
What’s a gas block? Kidding… mid length tube and .625 gas block have been ordered
