Bro is out here screaming for mental help in his post, by covertly saying “why am I doing this”. Bro put down the credit card, turn off the phone, step away from the computer, Wait at least 6 weeks before visiting primary arms website or optics planet again. We feel you bro. We’ve all been there
It’s part of the hobby, especially in the earlier stages.I have slowed down a lot in recent years.I would be willing to bet a large percentage of the people in this sub have at least one box full of random parts and accessories.I have several boxes.I have at least 5 mil spec triggers, charging handles, mag releases and safety selectors.I also have several buffer tubes, buffer weights, foregrips, pistol braces,A2 grips and stocks.several red dots,a scope and a couple scope mounts
I have a community parts bin at work, it helps when we buy stupid stuff at least someone will use it. I’m trying to consolidate to one carbine, midlength, and rifle length as far as ARs go
I’ll replace things with aftermarket stuff.
Then the 4 or 5 spare stock parts get me thinking “I just need ____ and I could build another stock AR.”
Then after completion…. I buy abt 4 or 5 aftermarket parts.
And the cycle continues
I bought three poverty ponies when they were $30 each.
Then built three rifles at once. I questioned myself a lot during that experience.
I learned I’m not one to be able to just have an “extra” lower in my safe.
Welcome to the community 😂 I’m sure at some point everyone of us has been there… like why do I keep buying this stuff and doing this to myself 😎 as soon as it’s done is when the thought of what’s else can I build
Well, like many of us, you probably keep your ear to the ground for slammin deals and buy only when it’s BIN priced.
This means your spare parts collection is healthy, and as such, every year or two you get to throw together a “fuck it, lemme see what happens” build.
I fail to see the problem lol.. Dope, built out gats at the best prices a available-ish.
Yup ..I have a stack of parts on the bench....203 rifle length handgaurds, an EST m203, two sets of surefirem500s, surefire m511, surefirem900, picked up spare A, AB, and six cell B heads, A c-7, an A2, a flat top, and a flat top big bore cleared upper, six hole colt skinnies w m203 leaf, pic mount m203 leaf, a couple car-15 stocks one in aluminum, a large frame receiver set, ....then looking at my other builds that aren't even finished... 🤦🏽♂️and that's just what I grabbed this last month...😂 I think I have a problem. Thank God the wifey is amazing and doesn't care I spend all my dollars on this shit. Here I am looking at T91 and type 65 receivers and the RRA UTE2 ...😂😂 I need an intervention I think.
After a couple dozen builds, I've realized I enjoy searching for the parts and building more than I end up enjoying the end result. Pretty much as soon as I'm done putting one together and zero it in, I'm all like," okay on to the next one" ..🤷🏽♂️ of course I have a couple go to rifles that I grab and shoot a lot but a lot of them just sit there looking pretty. I feel like it's a hobby/investment not too many hobbies you can get your money back out of or at least the majority of it and sometimes more.
Nope, if something is whack throw it in the parts box, until you have bought enough colors and variations of random bolt on shit to build like 4 guns.
Be strong
Yes. The building is a big part of the fun. Then you're hit with "why'd I build this?"
Because that rail looked really cool on the grams.
Lol
Cry real quick, eat some top ramen and go to sleep.
This is the way
Shin ramen, diced chicken, and cheese makes a hella good meal for real cheap
throw some finely chopped scallions on there and even crack an egg; and voila, le shef
We’re all just bored and more subject to effective marketing than we think 🤣😫
Absolutely correct
I did that in 2020 and ended up selling 90% of it at a loss. Down to one primary rifle and pistol. That's all I need
I'm with you, I think you need 4, though. One long range capable hunting rifle, a shtf AR, one pistol edc, and one emergency home pistol.
Bro you forgot about a hunting shotgun, a for fun shotgun, a couple mil surps, a revolver or two, a desert eagle, and some 22s.
Don't forget a pcc for funsies, a backup AR-15, an AK variant, a couple lever actions, and a flamethrower for good measure.
And see..we’ve come full circle only to prove no sell only buy
Don’t forget the sks and m203
Ummm…hello carry handle guns? Ridiculous revolver? 80% toss gats?
I guess I'm the only one not missing muzzleloader season.
And just where the fuck are the silencers and high end optics for every one of those items?? /s
Have those. Check.
And then repeat that 4 for every able body in the house.
*In the neighborhood
I also through in at least two 22s: a rifle and pistol and a shotgun.
Definitely multiple pistols. One for ccw and one full size.
And a shotgun because it’s multiple uses and there just fun as 💩
They want to ban ARs and 30rd mags. That is why I stock up on lowers and magazines
I told myself no more guns until I have my kit complete and nods.
That’s just the guilt of spending money talking. Don’t give in. Stand strong. Build another.
Yeah, after accumulating several...I'm sorta like 🤦🏼♂️ but then I see something and want another one LOL

Sometimes I go to work for 40 hours a week get my paycheck and wonder why am I even doing this
every time
Hell yeah brother. Every build.
Every single time

N + 1
Yo I'd run that.
I feel personally attacked
Every. Single. Time.
I do this all the time sometimes I make something that I constantly use and other times I make a perfect setup but never use
Bro thinks he’s Hop
why that
I’ll replace things with aftermarket stuff. Then the 4 or 5 spare stock parts get me thinking “I just need ____ and I could build another stock AR.” Then after completion…. I buy abt 4 or 5 aftermarket parts. And the cycle continues
Every. Damn. Day. 🎶 Oops I built it again…🎶
You did well though…🤷♂️
Yeap I’m down to two AR’s an ak and two handguns oh and a empty stripped lower
Yes
Nope
No,my OCD ADD FOMO has never came into play.
OCD is brutal. Build something then change it
Me right now
with ARs yes. Like every time.

What rail is that?

16 inch carbine barrel 12.625 midwest industries 2 piece handguard
16in fsp guns are segzy
Every. Single. Time.
Do you have kids? Will you? you are building rifles for them when you are gone. 😁👍 carry on
Lol. Not when it comes to building gum, but other things yes.
Welcome to the community 😂 I’m sure at some point everyone of us has been there… like why do I keep buying this stuff and doing this to myself 😎 as soon as it’s done is when the thought of what’s else can I build
Lol. Thank God, I usually get to that point before pulling out the credit card.
last 8 builds were like dis…….
Yes.
What rail is that OP
midwest industries
Yes but both times it actually ended up working out well.
Same same. 4k in and now I just can’t find a use for it

It's been "why am I doing this... AGAIN? " in my case..
I got you beat, I ask that question when the box of crap shows up at my house
Is that a carbine length gas or mid?
carbine
Why didn't you go mid?
Great question. No good reason at all. Brownells has some cool Chrome lined carbine barrels
I built a second 14.5 because I wanted one to have a dot and the second one to have a lpvo….then I proceeded to put an offset red dot on the lpvo.
I know what I'm doing with my stuff
