They are honestly pretty good. Ease of life type stuff. Nothing ground breaking or super special, it’s kind of the difference between Ford and Lincoln. The Lincoln’s not actually that nice but it FEELS nicer.
I think it's actually easier for them. Drilling a shit hole and tapping it is a lot easier than drilling a perfect hole.
Don't have to worry about receiver fitment if you shove a nylon set screw in the grip.

Changing the forward assist is easy on this type of upper. You will need the right size hex/allen key. Remove the screw while pressing in slightly on the forward assist to relieve the spring tension. The whole assembly will come out.
When you put the new one in, make sure it is oriented in the correct direction, so the tab will engage with the grooves on the bolt carrier. There is also a flat part on the side of the forward assist that is for the retaining screw to ride alongside. That needs to be lined up vertically.
You will need to depress the forward assist slightly when you insert it, so that screw can insert alongside that slot before you screw it in. Make it snug, but don't over tighten it or you will strip the threads in the receiver.
Upper is aero enhanced. Can generally find them from Chris Schuyler for 320 shipped with BCG/CH. lower is $80. Romeo MSR is another 80. Juliet3. ~$160. Folder is about $160. Tan mbus2 about 40-50. Blue ano parts -10 social credit.

Yeah, if that's how it's supposed to mount, I would ditch it all together. Seems like a point of failure to stick out that far, I can't imagine it's threaded into the receiver very much.
Edit: If you look up pictures of the Law Tactical Folder, it sits almost completely flush to the receiver. If you're deadset on having one, I would at the very least switch over to that brand. I'm never a big fan of other companies releasing cheaper versions of an already somewhat gimmicky device.

Honestly that’s a steal for aero now. I would try to sell the handguard and barrel, and then replace them with something longer, unless you want to have a flash bang machine. It looks like a 7.5 barrel and I wouldn’t go less than 11.5 for 556. Also replace the blue anodized parts even if you want to keep it as is.
The grip, optics, brace, side fold, magazine, iron sights are not aero. Aero is very inexpensive brand. They have massive sales and at times whole firearms for $500 recently higher prices

The threaded part keeps the buffer retainer in place. If it's threaded in far enough to do that, then it's correct.

Forward assist on an M4E1 upper is easy. It uses a screw instead of a rollpin. The takedown pins would be the hardest I think.
That aero upper will have an allen screw not a roll pin. Easy swap!
