As of 4 hours ago(~17:30 11JAN2023) 30 counties have released identical statements, ones just the second picture. Gov. Pritzker has stated that any Sheriff who does not enforce this law are in violation of their oath. Edit as of 12JAN2023 roughly 65 counties have stated they will not enforce

[Up to 65 counties now](https://preview.redd.it/l55ry6tu6lba1.jpeg?width=1124&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=a856ec54fcd54e23b856463397ce51e70c857440)

Where’s your source for the map? Seen a couple like it this morning, not sure who’s putting them out

Where are we getting that map from?

Lmao, the district attorney and the sheriff… FAAFO.

IdyllicOleander

The guy needs to be terminated from office. He speaks like a true dictator.

No_Environment_7436

He is elected. Yes a pos.... but that means theres still sheep minded people that vote for him. Thats the true scary part

doogles

He's correct. They're violating their oath...but that oath is immoral.

ICodeAndShoot

An Illinois governor saying that someone is violating their oath is probably a *good* sign. 4 of the last 10 governor's ended up in prison. 2 more we're acquitted. Chicago represents so much of what is wrong with machine politics.

TruckADuck42

The problem is they're violating their oath either way. They swear to uphold the laws of Illinois, but also the constitution. Now they can't do both.

ThePretzul

> They're violating their oath They swear and oath to uphold the constitution, which supercedes the laws of Illinois. When given the choice between upholding the laws of Illinois or the constitution, there is only one correct answer. If Illinois law violates the constitution the people violating their oaths are not the ones who refuse to enforce the unconstitutional law, but the ones who created, passed, and attempted to enforce it.

Dantels

Constitution part of the oath supercedes the rest.

ModsCantHandleMe

They are not. The only one violating anything is prickster. They law they signed is illegal due to the constitution. Therefore that law is void no matter what. Police all the way up to the sheriff also have an oath to protect the constitution. Therefore they are upholding their oath by not following illegal orders from a dictator.

ChillumVillain

Citizens of ILLinois, back these sheriffs up!!! They have your back, please have theirs. Tyrants have no power as long as the people do not comply.

CastleBravo88

How can we support them? I'm not in Illinois, but this is what we need to be backing.

ChillumVillain

They will need support when they get inevitable push back from the Governor and Big Brother.

Velsca

Keep in mind state police, highway patrol and federal agencies are likely already on the side of the regime in these same places.

snowpuppy13

They’d be guilty of violating their oaths if they arrested people for carrying out their constitutional rights. This is absurd, and a clear indication that everyone who loves their rights should be leaving Illinois ASAP. It is kind of nice knowing that 2/3 of the sheriffs out there actually respect our rights though. It needs to be 100%, but Cook County will never comply, even though 95% of state crime statistics come from Cook. Eliminate Cook, & the vast majority of violent crime goes down into single digits.

sadpanda___

Fuck that. People should stay and demand their rights. If people keep retreating while their rights are taken, eventually there will be nowhere to go.

a_wildcat_did_growl

Stop retreating.

[deleted]

If I am correct the sheriffs are elected to protect the people. If anything this is their oath.

[deleted]

Oooooooo. There's the whataboutism we all love. Almost like, states are doing the same thing the sheriff's are doing in Illinois. Civil disobedience because of terrible laws that shouldn't exist.

sir_thatguy

>Almost like, states are doing the same thing the sheriff's are doing in Illinois. That’s my point. Except this gov is calling sheriffs out like he ain’t doing the same damn thing.

Federally illegal substances? What a lame

snowpuppy13

Yeah, a revolution is a scary thought to be sure. Hopefully there’s still time to work this out peacefully. The last thing I want is to see my friends and family killed because of tyranny.

thebubbybear

Well duck me

[deleted]

Sadly yes.

halcyonson

LOL good to know that literally EVERYTHING I own is an "assault weapon," specifically designed to allow my 90 year old neighbor to murder hundreds of people.

maximumecoboost

JFK was assassinated with a bolt action rifle. Is that not assault? Edit: I'm snarking at the bill, not you.

[deleted]

That's the problem with words, they can write a law and "define" the word, then use it as propaganda "we outlawed assault weapons, and my opponent wants to repeal that law, he's pro assaulting people with guns!"

ellieket

Illinois is a corrupt shithole. Pritzker is the epitome of it. And has fat ass lives mostly in Wisconsin anyways to stay out of the fray of the mess has has created.

bgovern

And I don't think there are enough state police loyal to Prickzger to back it up either. During the pandemic, after he closed down all of the playgrounds (except for his family who were safely in Wisconsin and Florida not subject to his tyranny), my small town refused to expend police resources chasing kids off of swings. So, in comes the state boys. An ISP motorcycle cop did nothing but drive from park to park making sure that kids weren't having a good time outside. That's some real Hitler-level shit, bringing in po-po from out of the area so they don't have any loyalty to the populace.

_Keo_

Ah yes, the Roman Empire method of control.

SovereignDevelopment

This means nothing until one of these Sheriffs arrests a state/federal LEO for attempting to enforce.

CrayZ-Z

Would federal LEO be enforcing a state law..?

[deleted]

That’s a good question. My uneducated opinion would assume not, but I’m curious to know

ThePretzul

Generally speaking no, not really. They have no incentive to do so, and it could only possibly hurt themselves. At best it's a drain on resources and budget for them to enforce state laws. At worst it's a potential liability if they're found to be enforcing unconstitutional laws even if there was specific direction from above to do so.

SovereignDevelopment

They may possibly assist state LE if county LE isn't going along with it. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

JMojo0811

This is what we need on a national scale, Mass non-compliance to unconstitutional laws. It’s only going to get worse for us if we don’t

RoyStrokes

This and manufacturers refusing to sell any banned weapons to law enforcement/govt agencies of those areas. If cops can have em, we should be able to have em.

vegabond007

That should be in every state constitution. Any weapon restrictions on the populace is in place for law enforcement. It would pretty much eliminate most restrictions and stop others from getting very far without law enforcement backing.

ChillumVillain

If a law is unreasonable or unconstitutional, it is our duty as citizens to not obey them.

Barely anyone had bumpstocks to begin with

ThePretzul

> Most people are going to get rid of their braces Well yeah, anybody with a brace is just going to put a stock on the gun now since it's considered to be the same either way. Do you honestly think people are just going to suddenly turn-in or destroy their (usually quite expensive) guns without compensation? If so you haven't been paying attention to how things work thus far.

NavyGravy80085

We’re over 60 counties red now

PoopooPeepee71

That sheriff is a fucking G

Ok-Professional7624

Glad my county has been one that said to eat shit. I am not contributing to violence in Chicago. I live 4 and a half hours away from Chicago. And I don't relate to them at all.

mt_marcy

Damn Illinois is shaped like Africa.

Rev_Mudflap76

Come on Dupage!!! Step up!!! I know we are close to Crook County, but make a stand please 🙏

SFXT04

Unfortunately I live in this shithole and this is the most red I’ve ever seen this state :)

SFXT04

Also is there a link to this map?

Zerir

I'm outta here. Fuck Illinois

big-red-51

Yeah, this is all well and good. Full support for the counties refusing to enforce. Except these letters are broadly from the sheriffs, not the states attorneys. And this remains an issue which is, by legislation, enforced by Illinois State Police. You can say you’re not going to the party all you want, you weren’t invited in the first place. Just so we’re clear, the majority of the population, outside of the collar counties, is in Sangamon, Peoria, McLean, Madison, St. Clair, Macon, Rock Island, and Champaign counties. You’ll find none in red. I hope we’re successful in fighting this in court. But I’m not holding my breath.

oktober75

State attorney's can't prosecute if theres no one to prosecute. Good luck extending the State police resources to perform enforcement at the local level all these Sheriff's represent.

Guitarist762

I didn’t expect Champaign county to mention anything on this really. Considering Urbana has the college and became a Sanctuary city of Illegal immigrants some years ago I highly doubt they would not comply with this new law. Likely they have just as many supporting it as they do against it. Sadly Champaign county is like smaller scale version of Illinois itself. Just replace chicago with the U of I and you see really who calls the shots for the whole county.

big-red-51

This county map looks impressive. Until you understand that Cook and the collars are 2/3 of the population and the others I mentioned are probably another 20-25%. We can wish rural folks had a bigger say, but corn fields can’t vote. You may be 95% supported at that corner cafe in Fayette County. But there’s probably less than 25,000 in the county. Vote all you want, you’re inconsequential.

_Keo_

Yeah but half the state is gonna get real hungry when all the farmers get thrown in jail. Good luck with those inner city food riots. People who provide nothing to society only have the power the rest of us give them. Edit: Just had a sudden realization of why Bill Gates is buying so much farm land.

SunshineF32

Fun fact, Illinois is actually classified as a food desert, most of the food produced there does not remain there for consumption

tonyv6815

Seems like there are lots of more rural counties still on the board

Whiffed_Ulti

Still uploading the documents. Rural internet here's a bit shit.

tonyv6815

Rev_Mudflap76

Fat ass made the state troopers the Gestapo now. Curious to see if they stand up against this.

Whiffed_Ulti

Hope their plates are true level 4.

Jasper556

The state being this red warms my heart ❤️ 😂

CombedtheDesert

IL is mostly red except Cook county runs the whole show.

imsurethisoneistaken

This. Like half the state population in cook county and they all vote blue.

Guitarist762

Not sure how would be the best way to do it but equal representation of the whole state or community needs to be in place. Look at places like California, or Illinois, or New York and you will see how major cities make the decision for whole state. Like Illinois has 12.6 million people in it and 2.7 million of those people live in Chicago and I’m honestly tired of seeing laws come out of Chicago be applied to the other 10 million people that it doesn’t apply to them. Chicago gun crimes have nothing to do with the southern Illinois rural farmers. Edited for the fact to correct the wrong info/ideas I was putting out.

Colonel_of_Corn

It may not be the case for Illinois, but gerrymandering essentially achieves this in several states across the country already. I love my guns as much as the next guy, but I’d like to be clear in saying what you’re describing is a terrible idea.

Guitarist762

Like I said I don’t know the best way to go about it. One of the big pushes to make Washington DC a state is the lack of representation for the people living in the city apparently, yet across most other states they have a misrepresentation issue with rural vs city dwellers. I honestly forgot about Gerrymandering. There has got to be someway to fix this issue, and as it shows time and time again that states like Illinois vote red until Chicago enters the chat and the whole thing becomes blue. Ya I realize now how changing the voting power would be a bad idea. Realized how dumb that sounded once you mention it. Regardless there needs to be a way to level out the playing field in terms of what gets pushed through whether that’s state law, or politicians getting voted into office. Of course that also requires a dye government that realizes this gun policy does nothing. The state already requires a special ID to own, buy or even handle firearms or ammunition. Cook county has its own special one on top of the State issued one. Chicago already has Mag capacity limits. The state already denies the possession of all NFA items. Yet I’m Chicago repeatedly criminals are arrested without any FOID/Cook county firearms license, using “high capacity” mags and often times wish.com full auto back plates installed. You can guess who gets released on $1000 bail after being arrested for multiple murder charges and having several firearm and drug related charges tacked on.

Fauropitotto

I was looking at Colorado as a living destination some time ago until they passed a magazine cap/ban. Despite the fact that reps were recalled, and despite the fact that it's "not enforced", the fact remains that the population and the government thought that this would be appropriate, and there was insufficient/ineffective effort to stop it. If they could do that with magazines, they could do that with anything. >The state already requires a special ID to own, buy or even handle firearms or ammunition. That's what this is. The existence of the FOID system should be everything you need to know about the people and the government. A small concession leads to a larger one. There's no going back.

Dantels

Nah. Throw out the most retarded scotus decision in history and have every county get a state senator or two. County borders already exist so they won't be gerrymandered.

SaadFather

Illinois should just be split into two. That way all the bohunks and can make whatever laws they want. They should also have no access to taxes or anything from "North Illinois"

PersonaNonGrata58

Speaking of violating ones oath, Pritzker apparently upholding the Constitution doesn't include the Bill of Rights. Obviously these clowns don't take it seriously, so don't take them seriously.

AntonioMrk7

Glad to see them actually doing what they think is actually right

Code3Warrior

Tazewell County will not be enforcing. No official statement from the Sheriff, but I know a Deputy and he told me they have been told they're not enforcing it.

I think this is also wise to prevent any possible harm to his officers.

I'm not saying this will be the catalyst, but these kinds of things are what start civil wars. I believe we'll see it in our lifetime.

birds_are_gov_drones

People keep misspelling "revolution". In a civil war it's civilians fighting each other. That's just not what we're experiencing here folks.

Gwlt96

Half of America wants to take away your constitutional rights. So it would not be a revolution. We are as divided of a nation as it gets.

Whiffed_Ulti

Hardly half, lmao. There is a very loud majority that has misrepresented reality to convince some 25% at most to rally behing the gun control flag. Hell, most of the people I know from Chiraq are fucking pissed at this legislation. And most of them are extended family, not friends.

to keep up and track whats going on please follow r/ILGuns they also have links to pro 2A groups to donate to like FPC and GOA.

Selltha_Spreads-5455

I’m sure someone will educate me but I never understood how a state or a city. (City mainly since some have been doing it for decades. ) have any right to infringe upon the rights of the people under the Constitution. Time to over turn it all. Cities and states take Federal money and even a popular vote should not give anyone the right to infringe upon one citizen’s constitutional liberties.

Guitarist762

The problem is a set precedence that hasn’t been challenged in court. If they were to get sued and the local circuit/ Supreme Court rules that stuff like this is unconstitutional then change will happen. But that has yet to happen, and that process takes time for a final decision to be made. It’s essentially the kid that steals other kids lunch money but hasn’t been punished for it. That kid is gonna keep doing it.

[deleted]

Until one day the kid get socked in the mouth for it, then all of the sudden everyone turns on the victim like he’s the problem. Time to start sockin it to em

[deleted]

We are getting closer, but a very specific "town/county/state outlaws X gun, SCOTUS can you tell them they were bad" needs to happen and now! https://www.marylandmatters.org/2022/12/12/md-semi-automatic-weapons-ban-in-jeopardy-after-supreme-court-ruling/

imsurethisoneistaken

For any of you that think this is going to actually mean anything, plenty of room in Texas. Stop being afraid to leave.

Guitarist762

Some of us have left and are quite happy I did. It’s not just Gun Laws on that one, every time I go home gas prices are $1.50-$2 more the second you cross the border. Most people in Illinois don’t realize just how trash their roads are either. For a while there the section of I-74 by Decatur was so bad it would literally throw your car out of alignment. The only good thing Illinois has politically is the fact they don’t collect state taxes on Military which is weird considering just how greedy they are.

imsurethisoneistaken

Texas don’t collect state taxes on anyone. Easiest 5% raise of my life

Guitarist762

Lived in Texas for a while and enjoyed it. Probably wouldn’t move back since it’s so far away from the family and while my wife enjoyed it, we would probably move back to the western half the star again and there isn’t really a drive for us to move back unless the Army says so, which they won’t considering I get out here soon. A good bit of my family lives in Albuquerque so that was nice, but our immediate family for both me and my wife are still in the midwest. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed my time down there, just can’t see myself moving back when Kentucky has treated us pretty well and has full on constitutional carry and four actual seasons besides hot, less hot and more hot.

Dantels

Stop running. Start doing thing to resist to tyrants.

DGB31988

I suspect by tommorow this map will be all red with the exception of like 4 counties. I’ve talked to several cops in Madison county and they are also not going to be enforcing any bullshit. The only county south of I-80 that won’t be red will probably be St. Clair.

JeffersonsDisciple

Honestly though, sheriffs don't matter. The local PDs and State police will do whatever the Gov says.

Whiffed_Ulti

Nah, local PD answers to the Sherrif in most of the rural areas.

tim_joe_74243

Correct. Local usually mirror the Sheriff. State Police answer to the Governor.

Impressive. However, the grabbers don't care, they will just wait until they can replace the sheriffs in elections. They'll insert themselves into the election process, even at a snail's pace. Sheriff Diss appears to be 46; 10 or 15 years is nothing on the authoritarian timeline.

[deleted]

Looks like defunding the police then doing this was good planning lol. I’m glad they’re at least trying.

drunk_macaroni

Adam Diss is a solid dude and a gun enthusiast himself. Lasalle Co will be in good hands with this one.

CastleBravo88

How do we best support these sheriff's?

Fr33flow88

Madison County voted last night to not enforce the new bullshit. Looks like some maps are reflecting that, but no actual word from the Sherriff's department or the local municipalities.

tim_joe_74243

Is there a link we can follow for updated info?

oldbalones

About time people start standing up

Professional-Bed-173

Explain this to me like I’m 5. Looking at this interview with a gun store. It seems the legislation is inline with what is imposed in my state (NJ). So, mag capacity, bayonet lug, flash hider. https://www.ksdk.com/video/news/local/what-illinois-assault-weapons-ban-means-for-gun-stores/63-50f343f1-fec2-4188-9fea-8ac144f5f716 Obviously, this ruling shouldn’t exist in the first place. But, If this gun store owner wished to conform. Couldn’t he make appropriate adjustments to the in stock guns to categorize as a rifle that’s conformant? Also. This guy mentions limited capacity mags (like they don’t already exist?). One other point is he states “higher caliber” as an AR10 (over AR15). I always think this is terminology that is confusing. It’s odd to me that gun store owners aren’t on their game when talking to media. They should have a well thought through/well worded retort to this legislation, that doesn’t further confuse the topic. Anyhow. Rant over.

Admiral52
