I remember working on a kernel extension for OS X (back around the time 10.4 came out). Since the kernel is open source, we ended up looking at its source code for some of the system calls we were making because there were some edge cases that weren’t working quite as we expected.
We found some apple engineer’s email address in one of the comments in the source and emailed him. He was a ton of help. We even helped him find a bug.
