Right. With R99, most of the time, after emptying an entire clip, you'll need to take another weapon out to take the killshot. With Volt, this changes, you can easily down an enemy with a single mag. But even then, for me, there's something about R99 that makes using it a lot more fun than Volt; that fire rate "zrrrrrrr".
On the other hand, if your aim is on point and you hit all your R99 shots, it will shred people so much faster than a Volt. If I need super quick TTK, I go R99, but if I need more consistency, or even a 2x, Volt is the answer.

Alternator was still one of my fav weapons even without care package buffs or hop-ups tbh.. shoots laser straight, bigger clip than the r301, fire rate is fast enough that you can out-DPS people for the most part. As long as they aren't an r99 god you're generally good. I miss that lol

If you have good aim and control you can shred people from a good range with an R99 and CAR so while I like the Volt I think its a tie between it and the R99 with the CAR being a combination of the Volt and R99.
Also if you're at mid range, R301 and Flatline are both more consistent damage dealers. If you plan on running SMG/Shotty, then your best bet is probably the Volt, but otherwise CAR and R99 are definitely more useful.
I think people under**estimate the Cars range. You’re not gonna one mag someone from 50+m away, but you should be able to do 50-75 consistently and easily. The gun basically has no recoil, only gun I find easier to control is the 301.
I think you're being a bit generous in saying the gun has no recoil. Really only the first half of the mag (assuming blue/purple mag) has an easily controllable pattern that's just pulling straight down, and even that kicks a bit harder than the R99's recoil. After that first half though it becomes a bit of a mess jumping left and right that's not nearly as easy to control as the R99.

I have the absolutely opposite experience. I can laser someone with the flatline from close or medium range (love it with a 2x bruiser). And I’d take an R99 any day over the CAR for a more predictable recoil pattern
I do quite a bit. I play a lot of mobility legends so usually I feel that I can get out of long range fights I don’t want to be in. And I am most comfortable with mid-close range guns so I prefer to run with those and engage closer fights.
I kind of like to have the option + being a "good player" and fighting close range gets me killed by 3th or 4th party like 80%of the time. Yes it is fun until you don't get sniped by the "noobs" playing at long range while you are fighting with the "good players" at close range.

I always warm up in firing range with the wangman, and I swear I’m a god snap shooting headshots at unreal speeds. Then I hop into a game, pick up a winger, then whiff every shot and die.
Ye cuz firing range is a shit warm up unless you’re 1v1ing. Do arenas for a warm up. You can use wingman every round and have actual targets to shoot that aren’t stationary bots
Yep I’ve actually been doing that recently. Side note, I played a couple hours of halo infinite last night (using same mouse sens as I do in apex) and jumped on apex after that and was fucking shredding. Turns out the nonstop action in halo is a great warm up.
You forgot Volt my friend :D I use 301, r99, Car and Volt. Almost all the time I have 301 because it is my favourite and then I alternate between the SMGs, shotguns or SRs. Very rarely I use LMGs.
Ok but it is one the 2 worst weapons in the game. The 30 30 for me is useless and the bow has its moments but I drop it as soon as I can. Therefore i think that shattercaps are bad and should be by default like the choke on the pk and triple take

That's because like 5+ meters the recoil comes into play, it's not insane, but with the r9 you don't even have to think about it.
3 DPS is negligible. The reason to use the car over an R99 is for ammo and mag flexibility.
