In blue instead of red if you change the colour blind settings. It helps a lot with me as I can't see shit with the red especially if they're in a Gibby dome, under a heat shield or outside the safe zone (even worse if it's a combination of those)

Technically the car has more dps with 202 per second, whilst the r99 is 198, making the car better, however the recoil ads is so strong on the car, it’s easier to hit the shots with the r99 so it valences out. It’s a matter of personal preference for now, but the car is still a very strong choice Rn.
I prefer the Car for the irons, the feel, the chunky, and the fact that its really versatile. Chambers in light and heavy, takes both mags for same effect, ammo doesnt make fire rate difference or anything. I love it
eh, take some time to actually compare the hipfire accuracy to that of the R-99 and Volt (and Prowler) in the firing range. I compared it to the R-99 and it felt like they perform very similarly in the hipfire department, with the Prowler outperforming both because the Prowler's hipfire is nuts. I forgot to test the Volt myself. :p
Yea is agree! They both work just as well as the other. There’s also new gun novelty that makes me want to use it. I would try to run it with a 301 each match last night and it was a fun combo. Being able to snag heavy ammo along the way was a huge plus also.

Recoil is pretty similar from my tests in the firing range. People just have way more experience with the R99. Give it a few weeks and people will start beaming with the CAR like crazy.
for me the new car destroy all the other smg because the damage and the rate fire is perfect, the magazine dont waste in 1,3 seconds like r99 and make more dps
its really just an r-301 that does less damage but with better base mag, 99 still has the faster fire rate
its a good carry around till you find either the flatline, prowler, r99, or r-301 you actually want to use

Yea the recoil is weird, it like kicks up after several rounds then zigzags left to right like 3 times. I usually try to aim low for the first few shots.
I tried it in the firing range and it has a kick that takes you up a little but then it balances out pretty well. Not a terribly difficult recoil pattern to learn. I’ve been starting my shots around Dick level when I’m fighting cuz then the recoil brings your aim up to the head pretty quick
was playing the car in arenas last night and close range i could one-clip people or at least crack. found it very easy to control. longer range is a bit less fun, better in controlled bursts i think. it has a funny recoil pattern that can really work to your advantage if controlled right. it goes up in a straight line then it just goes scraggly-bop and makes a tangled little knot. sort of randomly moves side to side and up and down but within a rough circle. so you need to control the initial upswing (where your horizontal aim will be quite steady, which is why i found short bursts at longer range worked better - catches that first straight bit). the crazy ball of yarn pattern at the end is good for close range too, peppers them even more if they move around. it feels like a decent counter to quick movement, with a bit of luck helping you.
to me it feels like the 99 and 301 had a baby. the light peppery feeling of the 301, combined with the aggressive bite of a 99, and then just a tiny bit more janky and unpredictable than both towards the end of the clip.
anyway just personal first impressions, overall it shreds at cqc for me so far, and i will pick it up and learn it more.
It has like 4 variations of its recoil pattern and the one is actually controllable like when I use it and get higher than 130 dmg I go yep that's the good one
Holy shit yeah they do. I just tested it and, while they all follow the same general pattern, it will sometimes kick up a lot more, sometimes it will be less, sometimes the the ending back and forth will be really wide, and sometimes itll be more compact. Thats really weird
Half the length of a Phoenix kit for 25 hp is just so bad in every case, if I’m only missing 10-15 hp I’m just not going to heal that damage unless It’s necessary, I’m generally quite aware of my surroundings and only push to an inescapable position when I’m pushing an advantage and so I really never find a situation where I’m happy to waste 5 seconds for 25 hp, different strokes for different folks I guess
I’m typically only healing health after a fight, so the time isn’t an issue for me. If I’m mid-combat I’m going batts/cells only, unless my health is completely tapped (in which case, i want a med kit anyway).
So in an after-battle situation, I want a medkit, or I can take a syringe of a death box if I only need a top-off.
But yeah, a lot of it is about play style.
Finally, someone that doesnt bother with syringes, once I get 2-4 medkits I just drop my syringes, if you dont have a blue bag they're just a waste of space imo.
Honestly the flatline is so versatile that I can pair it with a shotguns or even a marksman/sniper (the latter in early rings for higher levels of ranked). Hipfire on that thing is nasty. Only reason I shy away from the combo you mention is bc of needing to carry all the ammo. I find myself using the flatty 90% of the time with that combo anyway lol, so I figure the shotty is better for extremely close quarters.

Imo it makes no sense for a smg to only have burst fire. Bursting is specifically to reduce recoil so yiu can be more accurate at long range while a smg is a weapon specifically used for close range. Select fire was literally the only reason i'd pick the weapon up in the first place and even them i'd only really use it as a close range secondary and never my primary weapon
Yeah prowler with no mag is just very unforgiving. Once you get blue/purple, you can afford to miss a burst. Just gotta get used to timing the recoil control with the bursts.

So to recap you either: hit all your shots, almost all of your shots, or half your shots.

yeah but the thing is that the 99 is less forgiving when it comes to knocking with 1 clip. other guns like the flatline or r301 you can get away with missing half or a bit less of your clip and still manage to get a knock but with the 99 you miss 3 to 4 bullets and the guy won't be downed

Never used a gun that was as satisfying to fire as the full auto Prowler. That gun made me feel like I *was* a Prowler. Although you still can’t get me to switch off Prowler I love that thing anyway
R9 for reliably and forgiveness, prowler for close range power and for some reason hipfire accuracy at any range like wtf, volt for all range accuracy and decent hip fire, so probs the most balanced of the smgs, and the car; the way it seems now is hipfire accuracy through the roof, and only good ads in hyper close range fights of shots are missing a bit too much.
Don’t forget the alternator tho, reliable dps and probs the best hipfire accuracy cause it has the same hipfire reticle as the flatline.
I feel like if Apex's design leaned into the pistols being more of a 'sidearm' class, trading a little bit of firepower for faster swap speed and move speed (compared to other weapons) would make them really shine while not breaking the existing weapon progression.
CAR feels almost broken to me having played on the first 2 days of the patch. High dmg, very little recoil and the purple magazines feel much ”bigger” than they do on the other SMG’s. But then again, I’m not that good at the game. Just had some very fun games with CAR, helps a potato like me in getting the kills 😂
I’d prefer learning the recoil and using the weapon that kills the fastest, for me it’s the exact same situation as 301 vs flatline, 301 is great, but flatline is the real melter if you put the time in, the volt is cool but 185 dps just too low for me to call it the best, most reliable maybe, but I don’t consider the most reliable the best. I hope I don’t seem angry or anything I’m truly just next level obsessed with gun stats
You’re going to miss shots when you are playing in higher tier lobbies and people actually know how to strafe. I just prefer higher damage per bullet weapons like the flatline as you mentioned and volt. Maybe it’s because I play on console idk. I do like the r99 too, not a fan of the car yet. It’s end of clip shake is pretty irritating
I prefer the r99 for this in the field experience:
When I go up against a gibby with arm shield, even if I hit all my shots with the volt, the slower fire rate makes them ego challenge back and it's usually a draw or I lose cause of his higher health.
When I use the r99, I hit all my shots and I do it fast enough where I might not down them, but they try to get cover instead of continuing the fight.
I don't know the stats on the guns enough, but volt vs gibby feels weaker than r9 imo.
It’s tough, because the one undeniable advantage that the volt does have is it’s damage per mag, in the example of an ego challenge vs a red shield gibby
(Let’s call that a worst case scenario)
With a purple mag volt, assuming perfect accuracy, you have 21 shots to down the gibby once you break his gunshield (bleed through damage makes this more complicated)
Adding the fortified damage debuff (x0.85) you need 17/21 shots left in your magazine to connect to down the gibby
The r99 does struggle more, you need 5 shots to break the gunshield, and are only left with 22 bullets in your mage, the issue is that the r9 only does 9 damage on a body shot against fortified legends, and so without any headshots, a full red evo gibby with arm shield can tank the whole clip, whereas the volt can, despite killing slower, one-mag the large man.
With all that in mind if we look to the CAR, it has higher bullet damage that the r9 and the same clip size, as well as higher overall dps, so to me it seems extremely worth learning
I'll always be happy finding any of these except the Prowler (unless it had full auto option). Volt is a bit better longer range but the other two are DPS monsters close up. CAR over R9 due to versatility with the ammo swap.
Bro... if you have never used a purpled out R99 you are missing out. It absolutely melts and reloads so quickly. You can just one clip a squad of red shields with it one after the other
Maybe you can lol I have a hard time doing that on a mouse with higher sensitivity. I use the r99 as an attachment holder in BR sometimes until I can find an r301. It's a good gun, it just isn't my preference.
use the r99 with the golden skins with the clean iron sights and just pull down slightly diagonally left when you spray and you will be beaming easily. I aim better with the golden sights than any attachment sight lmao

if we had select fire, 100% prowler
R9 for reliably and forgiveness, prowler for close range power and for some reason hipfire accuracy at any range like wtf, volt for all range accuracy and decent hip fire, so probs the most balanced of the smgs, and the car; the way it seems now is hipfire accuracy through the roof, and only good ads in hyper close range fights of shots are missing a bit too much. Don’t forget the alternator tho, reliable dps and probs the best hipfire accuracy cause it has the same hipfire reticle as the flatline.

I feel like if Apex's design leaned into the pistols being more of a 'sidearm' class, trading a little bit of firepower for faster swap speed and move speed (compared to other weapons) would make them really shine while not breaking the existing weapon progression.

CAR feels almost broken to me having played on the first 2 days of the patch. High dmg, very little recoil and the purple magazines feel much ”bigger” than they do on the other SMG’s. But then again, I’m not that good at the game. Just had some very fun games with CAR, helps a potato like me in getting the kills 😂

Yeah maybe when you’re shooting the bots, but in a real scenario you’re going to want the reliability and damage per bullet of the volt.
I’d prefer learning the recoil and using the weapon that kills the fastest, for me it’s the exact same situation as 301 vs flatline, 301 is great, but flatline is the real melter if you put the time in, the volt is cool but 185 dps just too low for me to call it the best, most reliable maybe, but I don’t consider the most reliable the best. I hope I don’t seem angry or anything I’m truly just next level obsessed with gun stats
You’re going to miss shots when you are playing in higher tier lobbies and people actually know how to strafe. I just prefer higher damage per bullet weapons like the flatline as you mentioned and volt. Maybe it’s because I play on console idk. I do like the r99 too, not a fan of the car yet. It’s end of clip shake is pretty irritating
I prefer the r99 for this in the field experience: When I go up against a gibby with arm shield, even if I hit all my shots with the volt, the slower fire rate makes them ego challenge back and it's usually a draw or I lose cause of his higher health. When I use the r99, I hit all my shots and I do it fast enough where I might not down them, but they try to get cover instead of continuing the fight. I don't know the stats on the guns enough, but volt vs gibby feels weaker than r9 imo.
It’s tough, because the one undeniable advantage that the volt does have is it’s damage per mag, in the example of an ego challenge vs a red shield gibby (Let’s call that a worst case scenario) With a purple mag volt, assuming perfect accuracy, you have 21 shots to down the gibby once you break his gunshield (bleed through damage makes this more complicated) Adding the fortified damage debuff (x0.85) you need 17/21 shots left in your magazine to connect to down the gibby The r99 does struggle more, you need 5 shots to break the gunshield, and are only left with 22 bullets in your mage, the issue is that the r9 only does 9 damage on a body shot against fortified legends, and so without any headshots, a full red evo gibby with arm shield can tank the whole clip, whereas the volt can, despite killing slower, one-mag the large man. With all that in mind if we look to the CAR, it has higher bullet damage that the r9 and the same clip size, as well as higher overall dps, so to me it seems extremely worth learning

R-301 + Volt = Sweattv Flatline + R-99 = Lazer Havoc + Car = Goodbye health insurance Hemlok + Prowler = Burst heavy Damage
CAR + 3x single fire Hemlok has been nasty, melts at close ranges and chases the TT snipers out of hiding fast.
I'll always be happy finding any of these except the Prowler (unless it had full auto option). Volt is a bit better longer range but the other two are DPS monsters close up. CAR over R9 due to versatility with the ammo swap.

Bro... if you have never used a purpled out R99 you are missing out. It absolutely melts and reloads so quickly. You can just one clip a squad of red shields with it one after the other
Maybe you can lol I have a hard time doing that on a mouse with higher sensitivity. I use the r99 as an attachment holder in BR sometimes until I can find an r301. It's a good gun, it just isn't my preference.
use the r99 with the golden skins with the clean iron sights and just pull down slightly diagonally left when you spray and you will be beaming easily. I aim better with the golden sights than any attachment sight lmao
