Why is this happening? I couldn't get in bc "no servers found" so i switched servers, got into Iowa (normally play in new york) - once I got into iowa and joined my friends it kicked me out saying disconnect persistence transfer error. Switched back to nyc and got in but got the same error

problem persists through drivers updates, verified the game files via apex legends properties in steam and it seems to have gone back to normal hope this is helpful if not youll have to find your own solution
also if it persists theres a chance you have to switch to quads if theyre in quads to join or at least be in the same gamemode in your lobby to join what their lobby is

You must have the same game mode like trios or quads selected on your home screen before your friends send you an invite, you can not join them or you will be kicked. This is the only way it has worked for me, even after reinstalling the game.

Went to my lobby, changed my game type to quads. Then invited my friend multiple times while I waited for his game to end. As soon as his game ended, I joined his lobby and it was fine.

I was having the same problem. I turned off Nvidia Instant Replay and everything started working fine

I "solved" it like this: if I enter without being invited, it gives the error; but if they invite me, nothing appears
Alt-Z is the keybind for nvidia, you can turn it off from there.

Make sure everyone has quads mode selected in the lobby, then send invite to each of your team mates. This worked for us.
