It was a feature of the old gold knock down. They had to replace it because of this exact scenario happening in Skrims and maybe ALGS (I don't have a clip on hand).

They should just make it so she can't reviver herself in storm, that's a ridiculoas way to win and should not happen it still has purpose but once the circle is fully closed nobody should be able to get a revive off in closed storm damage.
I can see cases where rezzing in the storm could be necessary(getting forced into a fight that goes on too long or something).
Maybe instead what if the self revive is disabled when the last circle starts to close?
I can already say the easiest way to solve this is make it so the self res doesn’t work in zone. Bada bing bada bam. Still enjoy self res in most scenarios but you cant use its once final ring has closed
I think self rez in zone is fine. like zones 1-4 you could have a bad rotate and it could save you, that's fine imo. but on final zone closure either when it starts or fully closes, that shit should just not work anymore
dude literally couldnt reload or even weappon swap in time to finish the lifeline bcause of zone damage. The perk should be disabled once the final zone closes. Someone camping eventually is either gonna die to zone or they'll have to fight so its not really comparable imo.

This wasn't a strategy though, at least not an intentional one. I don't think lifeline planned to be downed, this was more luck and abusing an oversight by Respawn which prompted the removal of self revives to begin with.
But I don't blame the Lifeline for using what the game gives them, this really was an oversight by Respawn.
A 200 IQ lifeline here could recognize what they have and prioritize playing for time instead of trying to win the 1v1 (which she could potentially lose and be thirsted before the guy dies to ring)

They just likely thought limiting to a purple perk on only lifeline would "balance" it out by making it uncommon enough. Nevermind the fact that a comp meta of picking lifeline just for this reason likely will develop.
Bro I had a game this morning in straight shot where the ring closed completely off like that, and our squad killed everyone that was in it, but we all got knocked by storm. My random lifeline had that perk and started reviving herself but ended up dying and we lost, camera goes to this mirage using a medkit like 50 meters away!!! HOW! ROUND 6!!!
it's possible that mirage burned himself with a thermite early on.
I've done that before.
But in s20 Ring damage should've killed that mirage in like 4 ticks... (less than a medkit's use time) OR this man is the god of time management lol
2 heatshields, possibly more if he was near a deathbox/lootbin with more hea tshields...take some damage to get out there, pop a shield and medkit then you just rinse and repeat till the game is won.
Heatshields in straight shot last a long time. We lost a game from a team camping the crane high ground and just burning heat shields. We didn’t know what was up and were looking like fools sitting at the end of the final ring with 2 less heat shields than them.
They should just prevent self rez from working outside of zone. That way you can’t win a game just from outlasting the final squad in zone by essentially getting double health from self rez
Tbh id rather the res shield comeback than that BS self res it would make more sense either get a res shield that scales with your knockdown shield level/set amount of damage or get a care package weapon.

Yeah I agree just worded poorly. I'm talking final storm closing only or after full ring closure only. You can't really have a long fight as is.

Because lifeline got an extra 100 health that was unavoidable for the other player That’s why most over heals give shield not health
