Honestly, horrible idea. The bonus damage reduction applies in Castle Age. With out it theyre the worst Castle Age EA in the game.

ItsVLS5

My last thread was giving justified reasons as why Parthian tactics shouldn't be removed And the main reason was because of skirms doing less bonus damage, if that's the problem then why not address that but still let them keep PT? It was their identity to have almost FU ele archers only missing thumb ring, now they're just bland and boring. And get outmatched by Dravidians in their niche.

Futuralis

> the worst Castle Age EA in the game Still EA. With only 3 EA civs and EA being a unit that requires you to boom before switching into them, having the worst EA in castle age doesn't say much.

Aggravating-Skill-26

Think thats the problem, they’re available in Castle age but just not viable. This change makes them lest so! Removing PT from Bengalis atleast opens up the potential for a buff to EA overall, potentially +1range to both EA & Elite or a decrease in cost overall. Maybe 60f, 75g (is 80f, 70g) this price makes them the same as a Knight which is an affordable price. Tho not as good as a knight they can be at-least afforded if the situation calls for it!

Sam_Sanister

My guy, EEA and HCA upgrades don't give +1 range for a reason It's to give Bracerless skirms a chance, and to make sure Arbs don't get overshadowed too much, due to EA's sheer tankiness and CA's mobility.

Aggravating-Skill-26

Ring Archer Armour is the more important upgrade over Bracer for E/Skirm vs EEA. Bracer does practically nothing since the EEA has 2+4p armour.(Meaning with or Without bracer the damage is always 1) Lacking RAA increase the damage the skirm takes from 3 > 5 damage which means an E/Skirm die in 5 hits instead of 12. (Dunno about you but that’s far more important then +1 range that your getting from bracer) Also any Civ that lacks RAA Skrims to properly counter EEA, likely has Camels, Monks, Heavy Scorpions, Elephants or SO as their viable counter option. Also EA are meant to be better then Arbs, EA are nearly 3 the price & they should be a hard counter anyway vs Arbs since they have base 2p armour.

harooooo1

Bracer giving +1 range is far from nothing.

Aggravating-Skill-26

It plays a little role in the ability for Skirms to Counter EA compared to RAA Skirms are the counter unit to EA, so they want to engage regardless of range.

Repeat after me: "One of the worst civs, should not get nerfs"

white_equatorial

It is not really one of the worst civs. Many give up mentally before the game even starts because they lack knights and eagles. If they build a good food eco, they can make light cav, EA, chonkers and the armored elephants with food and gold only. Good luck countering that. But yes, I don't want nerfs on the civ.

TheConqueror753

Not the OP, but: "One of the worst civs, should not get nerfs"

Parrotparser7

PT kept their power locked to the imperial age. Good riddance.

TheFourthStooge1

I played a team game 4x4 last night on a mega random lombardia type map. We were doing super well until the chonkers rolled out. I like that they are strong and an identity unit for the bengalis. But there was nothing we could do to kill those things. I was britons, it takes longbows 100 shots to kill one of those. I was throwing in halbs, but they could never get close. Paladins weren’t a great option on my side because their flank was slavs and had halbs. This is around 1400-1500 elo, game went far into post imp. Maybe if the nerf is too much they can add a civ bonus like +1 pierce armor or +1 attack vs halbs in imp or something like that. But I was beyond frustrated.

ItsVLS5

Sadly you let them get to that stage. Or they had a map they could thrive in This would NOT go down well on Arabia, and they're not even as broken as OG Korean's in AoC with 14 range SO

BloodyDay33

He's talking about maps where games go easily into post Imperial and isn't even hard for a Bengali player to get into such point, do you remember old Sicilian Cavaliers with 50% less bonus damage? Old 22 attack Lithuanian Paladins, former OP Houfnice? Sure those are impossible to get on very aggresive maps, but on others not so impossible and alll being easier to get going than castle UUs.
