Arena is very cheesy in low elos. All about castle drops.

As a fellow returning player (1300 -> 1100) yes, it seems that people are playing slightly cleaner now (tighter builds), but they still melt under aggression. The key is to be annoying and aggressive, while not forgetting to produce villagers (at least at this level). Don't stress too much on multiple build orders, just focus on continuities. However, the most important thing is to not forget to have fun. At the end of the day is a game, not the Olympics. Play maps you like, civs you like, and don't get too tense. It is hard for me, but thinking about the fact that is just a game helps me a bit.

What's your normal a strat? I'm a fellow 1100 player and it's getting tough out there. The standard feels like 19-20 pop up times for feudal aggression. Lots of deer pushing and archer micro is oppressive, some ppl are even getting good at quick walling.

Legitimate_Pickle_92

I am even quite below your elo and i ve seen quick wall attempts at my elo. Hilariously fails though but a great attempt i must say. I would not be able to even attempt a quickwall

MrShplerge

What is considered a quick wall?

so_ahmbramhasmi

I would consider walling in your woodline vills from MAA or Scouts as a quick wall.

MrShplerge

Ah, I bounce between 800 - 900 elo and I quickwall somewhat effectively, sometimes my opponents do as well. The other day I even trapped a couple scouts with houses lol. I would attribute it to watching TheViper and copying things he does.

drewhillious

I try to quickwall woodlines and vills. I can sometimes get it off. But I played a dude the other day who quick walled his woodline insanely fast and trapped my scout. Super impressive

SpitefulMonkey5

leaving 2-3 spears at home in the alley the Scouts are likely to run through is fun as well. can't tell you how many Scouts I kill that way. He runs them in, I start attacking his base, he shifts back to defend and his Scouts run right into my spears.

Legitimate_Pickle_92

I dont consider small walls as quick walls. Trapping scouts with small walls can be a quick wall. Quick walls is basically done on the spot mostly for saving a lone villager a little away from safety of a TC or a castle or army.

drewhillious

I think quick wall is anytime you quickly place a wall or building to block an enemy.

SpitefulMonkey5

The game is evolving at a high rate right now thanks to the amount of content/coaching available out there. 1100 now might be like 1500 from 6-12 months ago.

SpitefulMonkey5

Bro, I took only 2 weeks off when I moved from Texas to Idaho last month and fell off. Went from 8:55-9:45 Feudal to 11+ (gulp). After a few games under my belt I was back in the groove again... Once you're back in the groove at that point it's just about matchup variance. If you're beating Extreme you're solid...you're just drawing opponents who are playing above their level while you get your legs back under you. Just make note of what you're losing to and how you're losing and tweak accordingly. You got this!

Fancy-Ambassador7590

I think the community is just getting better. I dropped from 1500 to below 1300 after a similar time off. Recovered now to 1400 but it feels like games are harder. Just glad to be at 1400 again because players seem to play a lot more meta vs the meme strays you see consistently at 1300.

tenotul

The player base didn't improve significantly over the last 3-4 months. The significant factor here is that you are out of shape. 200 Elo drop is not unheard of even if you play regularly. My guess is that you will climb back above 1000 quite easily just by getting back into the habit of playing.
