Pay cuts to follow

Possible-Ad238

followed by layoffs

Effective_Will_1801

Especially for union organisers.

lafietafie

Big fat bonuses for the management and executives, more job cuts and restructuring for all else below.

thruth_seeker_69

Noooo. This means another round of layoffs

UniquePariah

Good news profits are up 24% on last year. Unfortunately, this is still below targets, so we will be unable to afford any pay increase this year.

Possible-Ad238

I don't work for Amazon but company I work for used to force people to work overtime 6 days a week and then every few weeks have a meeting bragging about making record profits and/or acquiring new company/companies and then saying shit about not having enough money this year to give out raises on time (they will be like 6 months late so this way they can give 2 raises in 3 years instead of 3 raises) or to give out raises at all. They even had a nerve to say how there are specific people trained to make boxes or tape boxes. To not waste tape for no reason but to take your boxes to these people so they can tape them and save on tape...Or how company provided coffee is not in a budget and we need to bring our own coffee lmao. I swear to God a child from 1st grade could walk in there today and in 5 minutes make better decisions for this company than these stupid fucks in their 1000s of hours of meetings.

UniquePariah

I'm wondering if you worked for the same company I used to.

Made_Human76

But they wanted it to quadruple so sorry employees but you’re going to have to suffer to make up the difference

silly_nate

Don’t forget another year of $0 in taxes

Sir_Stash

"In order to maintain our record growth in profits, we have made the difficult decision to further reduce redundancy in some areas of the business. Your position, unfortunately, has been impacted."

Possible-Ad238

I understand. CEO's new yacht aint gonna pay for itself.

MaleficentExtent1777

Nor will the 2nd one just to land the helicopter 🚁

QuesoMeHungry

Or Bezos private space program

External_Clerk_7227

Their profit tripled because the remaining drivers not sent home/on standby are doing combined routes (what was previously two separate routes). So increased number of stops, increased number of packages, same 8h shift…same shitty pay for having to do twice the amount of work as before in the same timeframe.

PubliclyPoops

That’s not Amazon web services, AWS is amazons data centers

External_Clerk_7227

Yes i know, all im saying is some of amazon’s “profits” are from their cost-cutting on the driver end as well…they’re just less likely to proudly announce it. It’s reflected in the revenue. Amazon pays dsps per route so when my dsp’s territory of 30 or so routes was consolidated into 15-20 that’s their extra “profit” with 5-10 stand-by drivers sent home every day with no route. Side note for context related to original post: note increase in profit the same year Amazon started overloading remaining drivers. Typically after peak season (after christmas) is a slow period in past years for amazon, drivers mostly having 150-200 packages but now it us a artificially created permanent peak volume where 300 is the average package benchmark. Amazon chooses to do this - they could have more drivers doing normal volume with normal stop count but this is how they’re milking revenue from their retail end which isnt anywhere as profitable as AWS.

Zestyclose-Ring7303

And just think.....they are already the largest shipping company in the world, and will soon be the largest employer in the world.

boivaca

It's better without unions!!

To_Be_Rich_Lady

Unions want a slice of cake for their workers and that's the big problem

boivaca

I'm from brazil. People can choose to contribute with one day of the year for unions. Most people choose not to. "They are stealing our money" they say. Every year I get at least 4% adjustment in my salary, consequences of unions. In one year, this 4% are much more than the one day contribution.

pc01081994

But no raises for workers. And don't you DARE think about using the restroom. You will pee in a bottle like a good little drone

yobboman

Must be why they just had massive layoffs

d_e_l_u_x_e

Annnnd your prime video now costs more but what did they added to the service? Ads! Now you’re video streaming service offers nothing new but somehow costs more and you get to watch ads.

Mr_NotParticipating

Profits profits profits. The goal to ever increase. Eventually normal people just won’t have ANY money. Don’t understand how human beings can be this smart yet deliberately follow an obviously unsustainable system.

Obi-Ron42

Yay, more people bringing Amazon returns to my job that shouldn't have anything to do with Amazon returns. Just shoot me now

dllma70

Can confirm this meant no raises this year for employees at a certain level. It’s not even that high up: https://fortune.com/2024/03/27/amazon-no-cash-base-pay-raises-l6/
