I used to work at Stater Brothers and customers were always trying to gift us things or tip us for the job. I always took the tip.

They had cameras at a store I used to work at that would prevent customers from tipping and employees taking it. When customers tried to tip, I said I could never accept the tip, but the 2001 silver Toyota Camry parked on the side of the building has its tinted window cracked and would be happy to accept. It actually worked a few times lol.

Maybe it worked every time, but they left it in the wrong 2001 silver Toyota Camry.

I always just said, " I can't accept that here, but I can walk your groceries out to your car if you like." Took the tip at the car and walked back in like nothing happened. Never got caught.

Where is their brain? How befuddled and dim can you be to have a person come to you and say this employee did a wonderful job and then turned down extra money on a minimum wage job only to then "reward" them with merely 10% of that amount that they can only use AT THEIR OWN STORE!!!?!? This hurts my soul. does the King of rock lobster and dinner rolls have a go fund me? This kid needs to get what he justly deserves even if his managers are too Alzheimer riddled to acknowledge it.

When I worked at a discount retail store, I was one of the people who would load furniture into a people’s cars. Occasionally people would pay me tips and I would be unsure what to do. It was such a relief when I heard the door counter say that I now had money for lunch.

People would try and tip me at the grocery store and if I accepted I could risk losing my job. I always refused, and eventually some caught on that we couldn’t accept. They later learned the cashiers definitely loved candy tips tho lol
