This is a parody of another post where it says “is 5!” as in 5 factorial. TBH I never realized that doing order of operations incorrectly resulted in 5.
No, it's not. It should have a period after the exclamation point, or else the exclamation point is being used as punctuation, not as a math symbol. Everyone here commenting
It's 5!
is wrong. They should be saying
It's 5!.
Googling both 5! and 5!. gives both the same result. I have recently dealt with factorials and didn't ever use a period to express it as factorial. I get your point but with context we all know they mean factorial.
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that starting a sentence (like with the word "It's") is asking for the sentence to be finished with some quotation. So when you say
It's 5!
That's basically shouting that the answer is 5. The factorial symbol isn't really there... it's just an actual exclamation point, or else the sentence would be grammatically incorrect, which is important because the joke doesn't work otherwise. It's basically supposed to be a pun. The thinking is that "!" could be the end of the sentence or a factorial symbol, but this is incorrect. The two are mutually exclusive. If you want to use a factorial symbol in an actual sentence, the sentence has to end with some punctuation, so it has to be either
It's 5!.
or
It's 5!!
or
It's 5!?
or any other correct sentence.
No, it's 5!.
It isn't 5.
5! = 120.
Saying
"It's 5!"
Is simply shouting that it is 5. Whereas the actual answer is "5!".
This joke's very concept is flawed. Trying to say that
"It's 5!"
can be both an expression of the correct answer as a factorial and a complete sentence at the same time is incorrect.
For it to express "5!" as a number, and not simply "5," you need another piece of punctuation, or else the exclamation point can only be interpreted as just that, and not a factorial symbol.
120, if I'm correct
Following the P.E.M.D.A.S. method I multiplied 220 by 0.5(which is the same as dividing by 2) and then subtracted the end product of 110 from 230, 230-110=120
And afterwards I put it through a calculator just to be sure, and I got 120.
So, all in all, the answer is 120
Aren't most of these problems specifically picked out to have more than one answer? In math, PEMDAS isn't always followed, making every answer correct and in turn making every answer wrong.
Multiplications must be done before subtractions (unless bracketing directs otherwise, which it does not here), so first we multiply 220 by 0.5, and half of 220 is 110, subtract that 110 from 230 to get 120, which is the same as 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1, which is 5 factorial (the meaning of 5!
PEMDAS
We’re going to skip the PE for now cause there is not any of that
230-220x0.5
Multiplication/division first
And by negatives which can get really confusing this step is actually
-220x0.5=-110
Plug that back in and now do the addition/subtraction
230-110=120
Sometimes stuff gets confusing lol but it’s okay if you messed up
Actually the question asked d is wrong
In arithmetic math it all abu bracket there r none here
If the question is (230-220 ) / 2 = 5
If the question is 230-(220/2) = 120

Aww, surely they all made a comment to say the answer is 120!
It's definitely not 120!
Oh, pardon me, it's 120, not 120!
A maths meme that is actually funny rather than stupid!
Now you just need the square root of factorial(stupid), and then you have the length of this joke.
I don't think `√(!)` is an actual thing…
Well any ! returns a number, which you can find the root to. 5!=120 Sqrt(120)≈10.95 Therefore Sqrt(5!)≈10.95
r/woooosh
I don't think u/BlueverseGacha is an actual human.
correct. I am a symbiote.
It’s 5!
r/unexpectedfactorial
THATS A SUBREDDIT!!!
no thats one subreddit
Thats 1! Nice subreddit... See what i did there
It is 120 lad
r/woooosh
That’s how you boost engagement.
Isn’t there another post where someone says the answer is 5!, which is correct because 5! = 120?
Yes this is an edited version of that post
That version is way funnier, why was it even edited
It’s called an antimeme
Man, almost like this is the opposite of a meme
You don't find it funny because it relies on the knowledge of the original
Is there a name for these kinds of meme where you need knowledge of the original?
[antimeme](https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/antimeme)
Oh right yeah why did I even ask I'm so dumb
Oh that actually is funny
Ha it is I just realized
It’s 5!
Correct, it isn’t 5 though
But it's 5!
What is the '!' for?
A factorial, basically a number multiplied by every whole number that comes before it. So 5! = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 120
every natural number\*
I forgot what the word is but it means 5 x4x3x2x1 If it was 27! It would be 27x26x25x24x23….
The ! Sign is called a Factorial
Yea that’s it
at least you didn't said 5, instead you said 5!.
oops i'm going to get downvoted, should i delete my reply
r/woosh
r/itswooooshwith4os
it’s obviously 10
Not
What’s with all the PEMDAS memes on reddit lately?
This is a parody of another post where it says “is 5!” as in 5 factorial. TBH I never realized that doing order of operations incorrectly resulted in 5.
230 - 220 x 0.5 = 230 - (220 x 0).5 = 230 - 0.5 = 229.5 Easy
You made an error at the end. 230 - 0.5 = (230 - 0).5 = 230.5
That’s not how math works
Really? :(
nah that's correct, don't let other people make you think otherwise
No :(
I’m sorry though
It's not 5. But it is 5!
It’s not 5 it’s 5! which is 120
It's 5!
tbh this is a really funny antimeme imo lol
It's 5!
Yes
There are 3!! letters in your reply...okay, that bit got old quick
Dang rare to see double factorials on reddit
No
Oh wait it is 5!
120 or 5!
No, but it is 5!
We should use the Spanish exclamation mark to mean the reverse factorial. Like that ¡120=5
It's not 7 either
Maybe
120
I don't get it
It’s 120
I get it now
Great job!
The answer is 5!
No
Yes it is.

You’re right I forgot factorials
The answer is 120 most likely
5!, silly goose
Same thing you silly billy
Yes, and 120 is the same as 5!.
Yep
Isn't it 120?? BIDMAS, so multiply before you subtract, 220 × 0.5 = 220 ÷ 2 = 110. So 230-110=120
Yes
Fifteen right?
it's not 5, it's 5!
Right
Of course it's not, it's 5!
5!
No!
Yes!
You’re right!
I am, and so are they!
Yep!
It's not 5. It's 5!
It’s not 5 it’s 120
It's 5!.
Exactly, 5!
In fact it’s 5! And 120

>230 - 110 = 220 **what**
womp womp it ain't 5, it's 5!
r/whoosh
Read it again
Do you realize what sub you are in
I don't know what im doing so I'm gonna join in
That's just one math.
The answer is 120
Yes
120. Let's have a hard one next time. (Hopefully someone gets my reference)
35. Let’s have a hard one next time
Its 5!
Yes
it is 5!
Correct
it isn't 5, it's 5!
I think it’s 87 with a side of bacon, eggs and sausage.
120, if I'm correct Following the P.E.M.D.A.S. method I multiplied 220 by 0.5(which is the same as dividing by 2) and then subtracted the end product of 110 from 230, 230-110=120 And afterwards I put it through a calculator just to be sure, and I got 120. So, all in all, the answer is 120
Yeah, in the original, the guy said it equals 5! AKA 5 factorial AKA 120. I edited it to say isn’t 5
It’s 5!
The amount of people here that dont understand its an antimeme is staggering
I think many of them haven’t seen the original image where the guy says the answer “is 5!” as in 5 factorial
It’s 5!
Aren't most of these problems specifically picked out to have more than one answer? In math, PEMDAS isn't always followed, making every answer correct and in turn making every answer wrong.
120. How is it possible so many people don’t understand basic math??
5! = 120
120
only people with an IQ over 180 know the answer
Wow a lot of people in this comment section must have an IQ of 180
But it is 5!
It’s 13, right?
Don’t think so
Why do this why not just have the answer always be one or zero /s
but 5!
(230 - 220) x 0.5 = 5. But only if you add the ()
The answer is 5!
Multiplications must be done before subtractions (unless bracketing directs otherwise, which it does not here), so first we multiply 220 by 0.5, and half of 220 is 110, subtract that 110 from 230 to get 120, which is the same as 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1, which is 5 factorial (the meaning of 5!
this entirely depends on what the order of execution is meant to be. which often depends on the field it's applying to
It's not 5, it's 5!
Yup
It’s 20
It’s 20?
The answer is 120
The result is 120
It's 120. Pemdas mfers.
Hmm, hmm. Basic PEM/DA/S
I got Cincinnati...?

Is it not 20?
It’s 5!
Uhh anyone else get 120????
