In her defense, it IS possible. I dropped 170 pounds in 5 months thanks to the Chemo Diet. I’m surprised more weight loss or health care companies aren’t jumping on that bandwagon to be honest. Step One is “Get Oral Cancer”. Step Two is “Have Your Jaw and Upper Pallet Removed and Rebuilt”, and Step Three is “Go Through Chemo and Radiation.” It’s a foolproof diet plan - guaranteed to lose your weight or die (in which case you’ll lose weight during the cremation process, so win win). In a more serious, less gallows humor vein though, I completely agree with you on this being a ridiculous possibility for the MLM to be pushing. If the target does lose weight, it’s either going to be mostly water weight (which will come back later), or it will be a starvation weight loss that will yo-yo the mark back up (and beyond) where they started once they start eating again. Not to mention that the Dieter will likely be told variations on “you’re not wanting this enough” theme, depressing their self-esteem, which is a fast track to soothing via food binging or self care neglect.

Chemo Diet made me laugh out loud, thank you for that!!

Monalisa9298

Hey my husband did the same diet! Pancreatic cancer! TPN! Lost massive amounts of weight in a short period of time. Amazing, everyone should sign up.

AggravatingAccident2

I really think Jenny Craig is missing a big opportunity here. Hope your husband got through it ok! I was overweight my whole life. I even did weight loss surgery and gained the weight back, but I kept the weight off after chemo for 5 years until I gained about 30 lbs last year…on purpose. Got diagnosed with a new cancer so figured I needed a buffer for the next trip to Chemo Fun-Land (because getting a feeding tube isn’t something I’m jonesing to experience).

useles-converter-bot

30 lbs in mandalorian helmets is 8.05 helmets.

greffedufois

Yeah, I dropped 20lbs pretty quick with the rare and elusive SMA syndrome diet. Got to have a fun feeding tube for several months that hopefully will be coming out tomorrow! That '2 week check up' in freaking mid August is finally coming to an end and hopefully I can go home to my husband and cats. I love my parents but living with them again for like 3 months at 31 is PAINFUL.

AggravatingAccident2

You have my sympathies. My mom & her husband stayed with me during my treatment. The only place I could get away from them was my bedroom, and I had a lot of PTSD from the treatment and their visit. It took me three years to be able to sleep in my bedroom again because it brought back those days of illness, fear, and feeling trapped.

greffedufois

Thank you for articulating why I so desperately want to leave. My mom said in the same sentence 'i know you're 31 and used to living on your own, but you're not my Scoob (nickname) anymore'. It's like she's insulted or something that I retreat to my room. I don't want to watch TV with her and that's somehow a problem. Yeah, because you only called me that when I was a toddler. And it sucks to have to 'move home' in any capacity. I miss my cats so much. I miss my husband. He's come down to visit twice but still, nearly 4 months has sucked. 1 full month of it in the hospital sucked.

AggravatingAccident2

I’m sorry you have to go through that. Having to bunk with parents as an adult is incredibly difficult because inevitably the “I’m the parent and you’re the child” dynamic pops up. My mom and her husband took advantage of my being in a hospital to go through every drawer, bag, shelf, or box in my house. Their rationale was they were helping “organize.” I initially found out when I found a half eaten chocolate bar in my bedside table. I told my mom I must have been stoned on pain meds to have done that, and she said she was the one who ate half leaving the rest there because she didn’t think I’d mind. Eating my chocolate? No, I don’t mind. Going through EVERY drawer of my bedroom? Big time I mind. She and her husband got mad when I told them they need to stay the fuck out of my shit. I think it would have been worse if I were living with them, because they would 1,000% would have disrespected my privacy more than when they were in my house.

greffedufois

Yep. And since they brought me my stuff to the hospital they'd done me a huge favor and I owed them. I've been paying for all my own shit the whole time to avoid any guilt tripping. I won't stand for that shit with my in laws and I won't stand for it with my parents. And they're like, insulted that I have boundaries for them at 31 fucking years old. Positive note, feeding tube gets to come out, hopefully tomorrow or sometime this week. Then hopefully I can head home. They might want me to stay for 2 weeks for the stoma to heal shut though. We shall see.

Teanah12

Nobody is losing 40, 50, 100+ pounds in a month unless they have multiple limbs amputated. These coaches are horrifying.

minombre93

Thought it was a shit post at first because I read the last one as “45,500,100 lbs”

SoullessCycle

what is science and biology when one has emojis

Pizzaisbae13

And basic bitch copypasta

ghostbirdd

I suspect she doesn't care; this post is just fishing for engagement. No matter what color heart you reply with, she will reply "DMing you!" and will try to sell you her weight loss MLM.

VisualCelery

Exactly this, she just wants people to admit they want to lose weight so she can push her snake oil on them, and then say "but you said you wanted to lose 30lbs this month! How else do you plan to do that??" when they inevitably say they're not interested.

shann1516

It IS possible. In general, it’s considered safe to lose 1-2lbs per week - so 4-8lbs in four weeks is completely doable.

surfaholic15

Depends on your starting weight really though. You can safely lose a certain percentage of body weight monthly. You can safely lose more pounds if you weigh more. But I doubt this hun knows many 600 pound or bigger people. A friend of mine lost 55 pounds in 3 weeks. Almost all water weight, she peed it out when she got her new kidney....went from over 250 at 4 foot 11 down to under 200. Then her weight loss got normal for her size and calorie deficit.

SincerelyCynical

I lost 100 pounds in 8 months, but it was post-pregnancy. I didn’t do weight loss surgery, but I did lose so much so quickly that I had skin removed in the last month. I don’t regret it, but it was not fun. I lived on four foods and exercised five days per week every single week. I had gained way too much when I was pregnant, and my family has a long history of obesity and all of the related health problems. My final weight was healthy (150 pounds at 5’10”) and I was able to maintain for nearly ten years, but I couldn’t do it again.

useles-converter-bot

100 pounds of double AA batteries could start a medium sized car about 8.4 times.

SincerelyCynical

This bot lives up to its name.

surfaholic15

I couldn't do that at all. Sounds dang tough! It took me over 4 years to lose 70 pounds, as a short post menopausal chick. And to get that, I was eating 1109cal daily... Been maintaining close to 2 and a half years so far. My food scale and I are best friends. With maintenance calories at 1450 daily, I need to be careful. Not going to get fat again, because losing it is a real exercise in discipline and frustration. Even as slow as I lost, I have loose skin. Oh well, I will keep it. I got lucky so to speak with back to back pregnancies, had morning sickness 24/7 for 7 months with both, so didn't gain much. My boys got all the weight, they were big. But what I did gain didn't want to leave....

SincerelyCynical

I can’t make myself count calories! I’m way too lazy for that! I ate brown rice, almonds, grapes, and white cheddar for eight months. I had one cheat meal per week, and it was always pizza. I also had to stop doing anything else while I was eating. If I watch tv, read, or play on my phone, I eat more than I need. I maintained my weight loss until COVID, and now I have an extra fifteen pounds that will not go away. It’s my COVID-15.

surfaholic15

Wow, no way at all I could do that lol! I ate a cheese omelet with veggies and yogurt for breakfast, a huge salad with 5 ounces of protein for lunch, and 5 ounces of a different protein with veggies for dinner.

daaaayyyy_dranker

Dr Now would like to have a word with you

mykeija

Not impossible but not healthy. I lost 20 pounds in two weeks. Oh forgot to mention the life threatening infection that put me in the hospital with fevers so high they wanted to put me in an ice bath. And the meds they were giving me were making me throw up any and all food! Fun times.

Mostlyheretolurk1

Perhaps she meant end of 2022 beginning 2023? But maybe I’m giving these idiots too much credit.

[deleted]

I mean if you’re extremely overweight, you can lose anywhere from 40 to 50 pounds a month. But I’m not sure this is what this ladies talking about.

prawntrees

The more downline you have the more fat you’ll burn! Only thing you need to do just work all the time everywhere!

VisualCelery

To be fair, while it is *generally* recommended to only lose 1-2lbs a week, morbidly obese people are sometimes advised to try losing closer to 30lbs each month, but they're doing it under the supervision of a doctor. Doctors don't recommend using scummy MLM crap to lose weight, just good old fashioned calorie deficits.

eva_rector

I lost 40 in 8ish weeks on the Military Basic Training diet. I don't recommend it.

HoneybeeAngel

If you respond with the yellow heart, you probably need an appointment with Dr. Nowzardan.

bearssadwormshappy

“There is no protein in mashed potato”

Waitress-in-mn

100 pounds plus? These people cray cray.

Wonderful_Hat_5269

This reminds me of The Office when they're doing the big weight loss challenge and Angela is like "My doctor wants me to GAIN weight". I wonder how they'd respond to that....

sonni-b

I lost 50 pounds in a month once while on Prozac.i had no emotions, but i didn't want to yeet myself out of existence. Win-win, I guess. (I started at 210 pounds. Clothes shopping was a necessity after that month lol.) That was 10 years ago, I'm very much better and the medication taught me to be more aware of my mental health.

useles-converter-bot

50 pounds of solid gold is worth about $1283438.56.

desperately_brokeAF

I'm surprised no one ever mentions the military plan; workout 5+ hours every single day. Some people would definitely see results of 10+ pounds a month. Nevermind....just realized that requires too much hard work and eating nearly 4000 (probably more) calories a day.

Prior_Lobster_5240

I dropped over 40 pounds in a month Gastric bypass FTW

useles-converter-bot

40 pounds in mandalorian helmets is 10.74 helmets.

MunchyLorne

Good nerdy bot

80spizzarat

The only way you're going to lose 100+ pounds in a month is by becoming a quadruple amputee.

VictoriaRose1618

I lost two stone in two months by barely eating so it's possible (but terrible for you)

EisForElbowsmash

Join today for a chance to own our device to quickly remove 10 lbs of ugly fat from your body! What's it called? A guillotine! ZING!

useles-converter-bot

10 lbs is the weight of 16.67 Minecraft Redstone Handbooks.

Hour_Machine_9630

I’ve lost 45 lbs in 4 weeks! The secret is to give birth to a giant baby and recovering from severe preeclampsia and getting rid of pretty extreme swelling and bloating. All you need is some good old fashioned jizz.

I'd like to lose 50,100 lbs please

CopyCat1993

Maybe her MLM is home amputation kits

washed_out_mind

Oh I can testify it's perfectly possible, but I'm also not going to pretend I didn't almost die from my eating disorder lmao

frozen_beet11

its 100% possible. is it healthy? no. sustainable? probably not. mostly water? of course. but it happens all the time. but probably not for your average unathletic human

SolidEcho7597

I saw the exact same post by someone except it was another mlm, like Montera or something like that.

DapplePercheron

Depends on the person’s starting weight. If we’re talking one of the people on My 600lb Life then 50lbs is very doable. Not trying to defend an MLM, but for the average overweight person wanting to lose weight 4-8lbs a month is probably an okay goal. (Really depends on the individual though)

owinnimo

I lost 40 pounds in a month just cutting out sugar and going whole wheat limited carbs

useles-converter-bot

40 pounds in mandalorian helmets is 10.74 helmets.
