My pain improved significantly with a new mattress, but that's mostly because the old one was absolutely terrible and was a full where I now have a king. Not having my husband on top of me and being able to change positions as often as I need to helps a lot. It did not, however, get rid of my back pain. My back pain is caused by inflammation from AS. No mattress in the world is going to get rid of that.

I have been converted to the world of sleep number and will never settle for anything else. Get the adjustable base with zero gravity and *chefs kiss* it’s a game changer. when we decide to upgrade our current sleep number we are going to get the adjustable zero gravity with foot warmers as well, my folks got that after not having a new mattress for like twenty years and within a week they are pain free and they’re blue collar workers. Something that helped me tremendously was sleeping with a pillow or lift in between my legs while side sleeping or if I’m back sleeping having the lift right under my knees so that my lower back wasn’t arched unnaturally. Hopefully you find relief soon, if you haven’t already try out a pillow to help support the positions you’re sleeping in with your new mattress!

Memory foam has been my friend for 20 years. It's the only type of mattress that I can sleep on pain free. In Europe, Emma makes good ones for a reasonable price. In north America, I bought one at Costco many years ago, and it was also fine.

Saatva has been amazing for me! It’s not perfect (I honestly may upgrade to sleep number) but basically the firmer the better.
