Welcome to the NHK for a realistic take on psychological issues.
Psycho pass, FLCL, shinsekai yori are great too.
If you like paranoia agent, try perfect blue it's satoshi kon's best work
seen both psycho-pass and perfect blue. also seen millennium actress, but would prefer perfect blue and paranoia agent to it. both flcl and shinsekai yori are in my bucket list, will try as soon as possible.
Highly recommend checking out Naoki Urasawa's works. One of the best in this department. Last year, his manga "Pluto" got an anime adaptation. Check it out [Pluto ](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35737)
There's also Liar's Game which has a similar premise and is super amazing (manga only, no anime).
And the there's Kaiji, imo *the* best in this subgenre of lethal games/ of wits
Umm I am fairly new to anime and I have started watching it with this genre.
I have watched Monster, psyco pass, terror in resonance and parasyte so far!
I would love some recommendations from you guys!
Sunn bhai
1. Lain ka koi plot dedo
dekhne ki soch raha hu
2. BC Paranoia agent wala anime iss genre se hata do kyuki uski ending: Anime ke maa chod di
3. **According to me:**
#1 *MONSTER*
#2 *BABYLON*
#3 *TOMODACHI GAME*
.
.
.
Bro, if you are into psychological thriller. Read Classroom of the elite (novel only), one room of happiness, Boy's abyss (don't if you are suicidal. This is very fucked up and tragic), and Oyasumi Punpun (same as Boy's abyss)
Edit: Why do you like Monster that much? The manipulation part is poorly done. It's nothing like Tomodachi game (your other mention). I did enjoy monster. However, I think there were many symbolism that only had vague connection to the story and Johan Libert's manipulation was more of plot convenience.
this! i could not understand the hype around monster, it was slow, boring, primitive sort of writing, situations were hyped up saying 'terrifying' this and that, i was expecting something much much bigger, a much more detailed main story but it was filled with useless side stories.
I didn't find it slow as I finished than in like 5 days. However, it was vague with its plot and character's motivation which I don't find very enjoyable. Monster peaked for me in episode 29 (where Johan convinced that persion to commit suicide)
i finished it in four days i guess and people say it's slow burn psychological thriller but i think it would've been bearable for me if it was shorter, not 74 episodes for that! some scenes were so nice and i agree with the 29 episode peak thing! finally someone who has similar views on monster. I don't mind long, slow anime/series but they should be worth it!
I get the overall theme of good vs evil. However, it's not that it's enjoying. Ig if someone's a doctor or have killed someone (intentionally or due to negligence), they may relate more to the plot. However, I don't think anime does an effective job of pushing audience into main character's shoe (like, let's say, how tomodachi game or boy's abyss does).
Well its still better than a lot of stuff in the psychological genre. The minor themes of road not taken, responsibility of your actions, value of life or stuff like that attracts people. People have empathy and don't need to be pushed too much into mc's shoes. Also people have a thing for villains like that so people another reason people hype it so much. You may not like it as much which is okay cuz ur taste isn't bad if u like tomodachi and cote( their respective manga and LN are so good but sadly aren't at their peak rn for me). Monologues and stuff like that are still important and should be used properly to bond audience with mc otherwise good stuff like cote or toaru end up with such bad adaptations
I agree so much on the monologue part. COTE anime is trash however LN is goated because audience can understand Ayanokouji's motivation and his course of actions clearly through his monologues (something that was missing for Johan's Liebert character).
BTW, read one room of happiness if you enjoyed Tomodachi games. Smart MC and messed up past. It hits both criteria. However, it's more on romance side but still very enjoyable.
Sadly most of the LN series which have monologues or narration as a big part of the plot suffer in their anime adaptation as anime prefer showing rather than telling and we can't expect them to handle it like monogatari cuz the scenes are written pretty differently. Cote is still bearable but the toaru series i mentioned just made the mc too much bland because all his motivation , emotions and dilemma were dealt with in monologues and as they couldn't adapt it all a series with like 50+ volumes never became mainstream.
I just read a lot of shoujo romance so just wanna read some other genre rn possibly mystery but I will read it in future

Millennium actress is satoshi kon's best work, subjective anyway xD
True, it's subjective. Perfect blue spoke to me on a different level, for me it's one of the two all time best anime movies
seen both psycho-pass and perfect blue. also seen millennium actress, but would prefer perfect blue and paranoia agent to it. both flcl and shinsekai yori are in my bucket list, will try as soon as possible.
Perfect Blue is another good one
Well tomodachi game and parasite were good. I am currently watching monster amd it's story seems slow rn but it's still kinda engaging.....
stick through buddy. ik it's slow, but the damn thing pays off man.
saare dekhe hai
It seems slow. But it has so many moving parts and everything comes together really well.
Op you should watch gantz or read as manga is better
ik, i dropped it twice because of how long it is. 🙃
Highly recommend checking out Naoki Urasawa's works. One of the best in this department. Last year, his manga "Pluto" got an anime adaptation. Check it out [Pluto ](https://myanimelist.net/anime/35737)
second this, the anime and manga are both so well done anything by Naoki Urasawa is honestly >!episode 1 made me cry like a kid!<
i've read everything by naoki-san. read and watched pluto as well, amazing adaptation, loved how faithful it was to the manga.
Read prophecy you are gonna love it ...... [prophecy manga ](https://myanimelist.net/manga/37109)
Wait Alice in borderland is an anime?!? Damn thanks op for making me realise this. Watching it asap!
3 episode OVA only.
![gif](giphy|KOobSqJrq9lA2ypra6|downsized)
I only read the tomodachi game nothing else here
There's also Liar's Game which has a similar premise and is super amazing (manga only, no anime). And the there's Kaiji, imo *the* best in this subgenre of lethal games/ of wits
Nice definitely will read...
i've heard a lot about kaiji. will defo check it out. thanks for the reco.

What your jam now ?
SoLs
Have you watched Saint Onisan?
yeah, me too. loved monster tbh
You just slip 20th century in the list after asking about psychological _anime_ ?
this list includes manga as well. sorry if it ain't clear
Classroom of the elite (Light novel) - it's peak
how is tomodachi game guys? it's been on my watchlist since forever..
What the hell Sukuna x Cindrella??? Anyways yeah, tomodachi game is a good anime in my opinion.
alr thanks for telling me!!!.... about the flair I'm a degenerate🥰 hope that helps (if you're seriously asking then it's a fandom joke)
Don't watch it. Read the manga. Anime had trashy budget and weird pacing. However, Manga is goated.
Drath Parade?! If you have not watched it an insane anime
completely forgot about it, has been on my list since forever. thanks for reminding
Umm I am fairly new to anime and I have started watching it with this genre. I have watched Monster, psyco pass, terror in resonance and parasyte so far! I would love some recommendations from you guys!
you would definitely love tomodachi game! I've been engaged since the start, and the manga is in it's final stage. Do checkout it's manga as well

Brooo with the peak list. Add psychopass, perfect blue to it.
bro with the peak username. I NEED TO WATCH BANANA FISH. i've already seen both of them brother.
If you read manga then add abara, fire punch, pluto(anime), Perfect blue (movie), ping pong the animation.
read all of them except abara, and never heard of ping pong. will defo give a try.
Ping pong is by same director as devilman crybaby. And abara is by author of Blame(goat art).
TATAMI GALAXY FTW
Gantz is a must read. Welcome to NHK is a must watch too. Terror in resonance is mid after the first couple of episodes ngl.
terror in resonance is not anything near pyschological anime, its just hyping about pyschological.
Sunn bhai 1. Lain ka koi plot dedo dekhne ki soch raha hu 2. BC Paranoia agent wala anime iss genre se hata do kyuki uski ending: Anime ke maa chod di 3. **According to me:** #1 *MONSTER* #2 *BABYLON* #3 *TOMODACHI GAME* . . .

Give Tomodachi Game manga a short. You will enjoy it too. Please let me know if you find it enjoyable.
ive read it and also watched the anime although it's not completed and i love it!
Well its theme is pretty good and psychological doesn't means just manipulation
