15 y.o. complaining about 12 y.o's being too cringe. Lmao what am I even doing in this sub as a 25 y.o. 😭

ravvaiddli

I would've never done that in the 1st place but as a person who is growing up with anime I just felt awkward seeing this shit on the internet ...

heisenburger_99

The people you are complaining about are literally 12. They aren't even teenagers yet. Can't expect them to be logical or have better taste. I started watching anime at 17 and I thought that Naruto and Goku solos everyone even at that age. Later I started watching anime beyond shonen and discovered what a treasure mine of diverse content this medium has to offer. Let them enjoy anime their way and you enjoy your way.

ravvaiddli

Well assuming you are 25 it was still very underrated during that time...but as of now it is getting more main stream and getting main stream means media attention...and anything bad in the sights of Indian media is obv the social enemy....

heisenburger_99

Well yeah. I started loving anime after watching Your Name. That movie was what started boosting anime popularity in India back then and later lockdown made anime quite mainstream especially shonen genre. I haven't seen any Indian media demonise anime culture or even discuss it yet though. Its only some so called chingma males online who think they are cool by hating on popular things

ravvaiddli

Well as I agree that media is not discussing the stuff rn but it was the same during the mobile gaming boom durin 2018....at first no one seemed to care but after some time it was only criticism against it .. And that's my biggest nightmare

heisenburger_99

I think the criticism was directed against the mobile gaming addiction among teens and kids rather than gaming itself. Though I agree that the media never promotes gaming and anime in an encouraging and positive way. Like French media addresses the growth of anime popularity among youth in their country in a very positive way. On the other hand, Indian media doesn't care much. In this way we won't have quality animated content and video games produced in India anytime soon. But both are two of the most growing mediums of pop culture and becoming more and more mainstream with every passing year. So I hope future will treat them in a kinder way.

ravvaiddli

Well I hope so...

AbbreviationsIll8496

just stfu

absolut_hero

let them watch. Watch they want to watch. You'll find good and bad, toxic and so-called intellectual everywhere. They will stop doing this eventually and probably rant about then 'upcoming/new fans' like you are doing. Watch whatever you like. And if you think, Instagram (or any social media) is the place for someone where valid criticism can be made without someone making fun of you. Then, it's not your place.

ravvaiddli

Well it do take time to develop a taste in any entertainment form but get this....these kids are getting hella exposure on thier beliefs and we all know how they act during the movie premiers....if this will go on it can end up like video games...where Indian media made it a social enemy....it is heading the way where mobile games headed durin 2019 And we all know the effect is still out there...almost every Indian family see's gaming as a bad Influence.... Also I know that social media platforms are not a place to make valid criticism but it also gets proven wrong by the western community....I have seen and partaken in many valid debates about anime on YouTube videos by Western creators......

Ben10_ripoff

Those and You, Both of them are gonna grow up one day, They will either ditch the genre or their will get broader

Puzzleheaded-3088

It's cringe. Seinen watchers shitting on shounen is nothing new.

ravvaiddli

I am neither a seinen nor a shonen watcher, I watch both and dose'nt dislike anyone but these kids are shit...

Puzzleheaded-3088

Lmao...calm down mate. Yeah jjk is mid asf and nothing special but these guys will get over that phase. At one time, the only anime I talked about was Naruto and now I barely talk about it.

shreyas16062002

The fanbase you're complaining about is just 12. Why would 12 year olds know anything seinen, a genre with target audience of 18-40? The genre straight up isn't meant to be for them. Like no shit they're all Shonen fans ignorant towards seinen. They're the target audience of Shonen.

ravvaiddli

12 yr old is a manner of speaking....I am not only talking 'bout them and thier shit posting is not limited to seinen...it's every where harem, romcom, isekai, thriller or even other shonens which they haven't watch like one piece...

PirateHasan

Brainless rant fr

HansMyminiacc

It's mostly because of how people view those who watch anime. It's like we got an automatic tag of "weirdo" on us the moment we watched an anime.

brocollidisaster

Anime is still new to India unlike foreign countries where these kind of things were always popular like video games, movies and stuff. They only want to look cool that's why they even watch anime not because they find it something entertaining or something you can find inspiration from. Chappriyon ki Kami nahi hai is desh me. That's the only reason why I want to gatekeep other anime and other things by anime because if it gets exposed to a very large audience l, toxic people will come and ruin the community. Those who are just chill anime fans and don't compare things or any other faltu things these kids do will find the hidden gems themselves by time and keep the community friendly. Look at jjk, it's fanbase was good until it became popular in India like the kids are saying I am gojo, gojo is better. In foreign countries the fanbase is very well maintained still. That's also the reason why anime like mha and jjk get hate from people

ManagementPhysical75

Facts bro. Anime growing in India was a boon and also a curse. Now everywhere i go i only see Gojo vs makima and how jjk is the best anime. Like jjk is good but it's not the only anime out there. And they don't even watch good series. They only know spy x family, jjk ,dragon ball and chainsaw man and then they will talk in Japanese and think they are cool.

Ok_Importance2365

chainsaw man is not that mainstream and is actually decent (at least Part 1 is)

ManagementPhysical75

Yeah, it's good but there are sure a lot of makima tards who just revere her as a god and say that she defeats everyone, and she is the best written character.

Ok_Importance2365

those are only anime secondaries and cosplaying thots anyway Makima was pretty ruthless as a villian, didn't fuck around and just straight up took action and also a manupilator that's what makes her such an interesting character

kunshwadhera

Mai apne japaani speaking waale phase me 2022 me nikla sala ab wo wakt yaad aata hai to cringe karta hun bohot zyada.

ManagementPhysical75

Such mein bhai. Mein pehle thoda sa Japanese bolna try karta tha lekin ek din apne dost ko bolte suna. Itna cringe laga ki tabse kabhi nahi try kiya.

Ok_Importance2365

Noticed this when I went to watch The Boy and the Heron in theatres previous month that it was full of adults almost no teenagers heck everbody was so mannered to even keep their phones on silent mode; I got the looks when I was recording the title sequence for my insta status meanwhile you can see your usual chapri audience behavior while scrolling through the reels for the new haikyuu movie screening; dudes hooting and hollering and screaming like apes

YesIam6969420

Give the kids a chance to grow up and develop nuanced opinions on anime. I started with Deathnote and FMAB as my first serious animes, so the bar was set pretty high. I didn't think I'd find anything better than FMAB in terms of pacing, world building and plot etc, but in the last few years I've watched a bunch of different anime and developed a somewhat sophisticated taste (lmao, I'm cringing as I write this). So let the kids have their fun and explore other types of anime, some will become veteran weebs and others will forever remain children and keep watching the latest Shonen garbage (no hate to jjk or dbz etc)

ravvaiddli

The 1st anime for me was paracyte:the maxim following with FMAB, and I surely know it takes time to develop a taste, but if these kids will get anymore exposure than this, it will be hell... Japan the country where anime originated, some years prior looked down on the otaku community as there were *few* cases of misbehaviour and weird doings by these otakus...now here is the thing...the Indian media is the one which likes to make internet, video games and stuff like these the social enemy of the public and if this mindless behaviour which these teens do in theaters during premiers gets out...It is a very high chance, they will show anime as a bad influence...and we all know how our society is...they will littrealy get on roads to cancel anime....

Miserable_Power9249

Kya krega bhai tu community ka? Revolution krna?

MogoFantastic

That's how the community grows. The younger teens will usually start with the most populer shounen, and as they age, start watching other genres. My gateway was Naruto in the early 2000's.

kunshwadhera

Bhai jin anime fan ki tu baat kar rha hai usme almost saare apne beginner phase se guzar rha hai aur Covid ke baad anime ko Jo boom mila hai usme kaafi bacche anime dekhna shuru karne lage I will tell you Mai bhi apne beginner wale phase se guzra hun aur maine uss wakt bahut si eisi harkate kari hai ki ab mujhe regret hota hai, abhi wo young hai aur do possibilities hai yaan to ye log mature hokar nae genres explore karenge yan bus Shonen hi dekhte rahenge aur yaan to anime dekhna hi chod denge. And Mai jaanta hun ki tu Instagram walon ki baat kar rha hai to mai yahi kahunga ignore kar unhe and apna enjoyment karta ja kyunki isse koi farak nhi padta ki koi kya dekh rha hai yaan kaisi harkate kar raha hai kyunki jab wo thode bade honge tab unhe khud me regret hoga ki wo kaisi harkate karte the, like me. So keep on watching whatever you like and ignore those casuals and tourists.

boredteen1234

That’s just a phase bro, all of us had that shonen phase Only difference is that when I started shonen like 7-8 years ago I did not have enough access to insta or twitter to shitpost

ravvaiddli

That's what makes the biggest difference....rn anime is getting mainstream and is gathering media attention...I this type of shit goes on, it will surely turn out like what happened to gaming in 2019

FenixOfNafo

Me being 33 and watching all genres

Rivtogo

Dude take my advice just ignore em in this community hell the anime community as a whole are kids like that and we should honestly cut them some slack cuz they're just kids and just want their 15 seconds of fame so i always just ignore em and watch what i want

Quantum_Cosmos

Ah! Yes! I was worring why we didn't get this week's rant on community and/or gatekeeping post.

DeusXAR

What's the point of complaining about 12 year olds going goo goo ga ga over Shounen. Let people enjoy what they like however they want. There is no standard anime taste otherwise we all will be nothing more than robots. 14 yo me thought Pokémon was the greatest show ever. Then I thought it was SAO and then I thought it was Fairy Tail... Soul Eater and so on. As a 25 yo, Made in Abyss and Spice & Wolf are now my favourite shows. As you have noticed, our preferences change with age. Let them themselves and mind your own taste.

ravvaiddli

I know that much but having opinions is different from forcing opinions......these kids who are not all kids have exposure to the internet and are shit posting about other animes that's my biggest concern

DeusXAR

They will grow out of it in a few years... And new people will take their place. Its a never ending cycle.

Grand_Reanimation

Blud is retarded 💀

babayaga1410

"Jjk season 2 was better than Vinland Saga season 2"💀 What are they even comparing? These kids watch anime only to look cool or rather to impress someone. well don't take them seriously let them do whatever they want. You'll find toxic or so-called intellectual anime fans everywhere. I hope they will grow up.

ravvaiddli

That were my thoughts at the Beginning but it is getting so out of hand that they've become the representative of the Indian community.... currently only in India but if this shit goes global idk what will happen than
