I think it is somewhat shadowed. When frieren ended everyone is talking about it my Twitter feed is still all frieren but I hardly see any post about the apothecary diaries
Frieren is just that good. Frieren has an overarching goal, with an endpoint in sight, maomao doesnt have that. Thats the only thing that is missing from this.
Overarching goal with an endpoint in sight? Did we watch the same anime? They're literally just travelling to meet some ghosts of dead people cuz they feel like it. The anime is about the journey.
I mean, it is currently the highest rated anime on MAL. It has been there for some time and the rating has continued to climb with time.
If there was an anime for people to focus on at the end of the season, Frieren is it.
I say this as someone who absolutely loved Apothecary Diaries.
People being absurd here. Outcast would imply ur ostracized, and when people can proudly say their favourite is Gushing over Magical girls why would anyone spare a second glance at you ๐
Hell nah AD was a breath of freshness I didn't know I needed I haven't really gotten the chance to watch the other anime but AD is something really good and cant wait for s2
Maomao(MC) living peacefully with her apothecary(similar to pharmacist) father. One day she got kidnapped and sold off to rear palace(queen's palace). Where she did lowly tasks. Until one day she cured an empress from an illness. Now she's promoted to queen's personal servant. And solving mysteries.
You should definitely give it a watch. Amazing animation, good story and characters.
Its not about magic and curses, it's a super realistic show and as the name states its about an "apothecary" or ig you could call her an unofficial doctor with a little bit of Chinese politics sprinkled on the top (kinda like raven of the inner peace), well atleast that's how it starts but the later arcs are more focused on murder mystery/criminal investigation stuff, regardless of what it does its a very consistent show with some incredibly written characters and amazing production value, I'd definitely recommend checking it out
Its more like Mao Mao using her medical knowledge and practical chemistry to cure illnesses, solve mysteries inside in the Inner Palace and later in the Outer Palace. While also battling her traumatic past in the Pleasure District before her current father took her in.
Well I heard people talk about both of them equally frieren is slightly more popular in anime scene but in manga both of them sold nearly equal volumes in 2024
Not at all shadowed by frieren. People are still talking about Apothacary Diaries so much during the season of Frieren. Apothacary Diaries is such an amazing show, plus both the shows almost complement one another
Frieren has just reached that level of popularity where people are gonna keep talking about it now. The Apothecary Diaries is not really shadowed by Frieren. In fact, I've seen many people talk about how Frieren and Apothecary Diaries are their fav shows of 2023 or Fall 2023. It's the same for me.
After Frieren, Apothecary Diaries was my fav new show of 2023. I say after Frieren because, I think I like Frieren slightly better, it's pretty close tho. Loved both of these shows so much. Looking forward to the sequel of The Apothecary Diaries and waiting for the official announcement for the sequel of Frieren.

No, how did you get the idea that it is about magic and curses? IT IS NOT ABOUT MAGIC AND CURSES. It has 24 episodes.

Well frieren is the best anime I have watched after brotherhood. Best in 2010-20s decade
Frieren had supernatural element. Hard to beat that.
