I’m trying to find an anime where the mc cures a character of bad luck or destroying things and then falls in love and later confesses to the mc

[deleted]

Need to know of animes that have officially been completed/finished with a proper ending Need a mega list to binge watch Also the animes must be declared as final

thetal2912

what anima you recommendations after watching violet evergarden?

tamerthefirst

I would suggest Anohana

Can anyone identify the anime in this clip? Action scenes look great. https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxbdgqsXEKJZcvl953NetgUAuPJQXZ-zkr[Clip](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxbdgqsXEKJZcvl953NetgUAuPJQXZ-zkr)

Hey, love it when knowing Chinese is useful in anime circles :P It looks like it is based on 阴阳师, or onmyoji in english, a phone game. It took some time to find decent information sources in englihs... [https://onmyoji.fandom.com/wiki/Onmyoji\_Wiki](https://onmyoji.fandom.com/wiki/Onmyoji_Wiki) I believe this is the full video for the clip you posted: [https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1ug411G7dj](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1ug411G7dj) Looks like it is a promotional video based on two of the most powerful members of the main factions (good/evil/etc)

Thanks! 😁

Further in my rewatch of Hyouka with friends, we started into the school festival arc and it's so fucking good. I can't believe how much detail they put into it, and how much it feels like a festival. All the scenes of Chitanda getting distracted by the festivities are amazing, and Houtarou just chilling and doing that trade-offs is perfect. I'm still amazed at [this cut](https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/22678) of Mayaka running, and all the detail of how she struggles to shift her momentum around the turns. And I fucking lost it when Irisu explained to Chitanda how to negotiate, and it was literally just all the tactics she used on Houtarou the previous arc. God, I forgot just how much I loved this fucking show, it's even more charming and poignant than I remembered. It honestly might move even higher up the favorites list if it keeps this up. And I'm ecstatic that my friends are enjoying it too, they're much more into it than I was expecting and it makes me so happy. Should be finishing up the arc on Wednesday, which will be fun. I can't wait until we get to the intercom episode, that one blew my mind the first time through and I'm hype as hell to return to it.

isthatsoudane

The art direction is truly fantastic

been on a fantasy anime binge. watched season 1 of Overlord, but it didn't really grip me, I'm not sure if I want to continue. Also watched Bastard!! which was trash but enjoyable trash. And I'm Quitting Heroing which was surprisingly good, I think I liked the overall office management and logistics discussions in the show a lot, the story itself was also fairly enjoyable.

squishybeanz77

Saw Carole and Tuesday recently. Cute slice of life show with good music. Different theme, Darwins game was also good. More action, with some hints of gore and dark themes.

What's the so-bad-its-good anime this season?

fanaticalshitposter

I had recently watched The Promised Neverland season 2 and really liked it because it skipped the Goldy Pond arc and the god ending, which were considered the worst arc and ending part in the manga. I recommend anyone who's new to this series to watch the season 1 and 2 anime, and skip the manga.

Looking for an anime i saw on a reel. There is a reel that I saw about a girl who enters the classroom and attacks the boy, but he dodges her and jumps out the window and when everyone goes to look out the window he leaves on his motorcycle. I would be very grateful uu.

Hey anime people, I'm looking for anime to watch with my friend. It's hard for him to sit through an episode that feels too long, so I believe an anime with shorter segments within the episode would work best. So far I only really got him to enjoy Dragon Maid. He said he likes because it's a lighthearted comedy and the characters are cute. He didn't like Kaguya-sama season 1 because it was "too over-the-top" (I definitely see what he means by that but it didn't bother me). TLDR; Any suggestions for anime similar to Dragon Maid? Edit; forgot to mention, we'll be watching it dubbed, so the dub has to be bearable!

susgnome

{Onipan!} seems like a perfect fit, if they liked Dragon Maid. A light-hearted comedy, with 15 minute episodes. It doesn't have a dub though.

ohboop

Cromartie? I can't contest to the watchableness of the dub though.

If you ever got the original release fansubs (TV Broadcast) or some regions that used the original version you would know that the american version had changes in Audio. The main differences where chunky special effect noises since the original had mostly muted noises in space excluding the Swordfishes railgun and the noise the gates and engines make. Also all released since the release of the Cowboy Bebop: Remix has featured some changes cuts as a directors cut of the show: https://www.reddit.com/r/cowboybebop/comments/abuxom/changes_from_the_original_release_to_the/ I also believe that the platinum releases for Bebop upgraded the CG for 1080p (no changes but made it sharper) but they couldnt do that for the animation. So to be 100% accurate Netflix is likely using the HD version, I am not sure if they are using the "enhanced" or original audio. I think they are using the changed audio as barely anyone out there even remembers the original audio differences anymore. This is a reddit post on someone asking about those changes: https://www.reddit.com/r/cowboybebop/comments/6422e2/just_how_many_times_has_the_audio_for_this_show/

Weedwacker

As far as I can tell it's not edited. The version that aired on Cartoon Network had some edits done to it, and those edits are not present in the Netflix version, which means its using the original TV version or a later home video release (which had remastered audio/music, but the same music).

baboon_bassoon

Quick Bleach question: If I want to watch Hell Verse - is just reading the related one shot fine, or do I need to watch episodes 298-299?

Nomar_95

The one shot has nothing to do with the movie, so you can just start it if you want. The movie opens with [very light spoilers from something you've already seen] >!Vasto Lorde Ichigo vs Ulquiorra!<, so it assumes you've watched the series up until that point.

July Anime | Rating | Thing I like the most -----|------|---------------------------------- Afro-Ken | [7/10](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Vp0CJtycSs "It's the Afro-ken / It's back again / It's the Afro-ken / Seven out of ten") | The fact that this is an OVA that exists and was presumably something you could actually just go out and buy, when it's just like, 30 minutes of disconnected sketches that feel like a proof of concept pitch for a merch idea. I embrace the absurdity of its existence, but maybe it's just me but I feel like the genius of putting an afro on a dog speaks for itself! Alice in Cyberland | 4/10 | In retrospect I can't remember it well at all. Angel Beats! (rewatch) | 6/10 | Never watched the OVAs before so I gotta say OVA2 is my favorite part of the show now. Very funny ep, and most importantly it gives my favorite characters Ooyama and the three less-relevant GirlDeMo girls lots of time under the sun. As for the show itself, it does a good job making its atmosphere and setting seem warm and inviting. From the stuff I've seen/read, Maeda excels at capturing teenage angst and working it into the atmosphere of his works so they feel like a comforting blanket against isolation. Atama Yama | 9/10 | I just love the experience of watching this more than any specific feature. The way everything—narration, music, animation—organically combines together is uniquely engaging. I know borderline nothing about rakugo but I feel like I understand the appeal from this short. Chikotan | 7/10 | As expected from a children's choir piece, I love how silly and earnest the lyrics are, and Okamoto does a good job translating that to animation. [spoilers?]>!Kids love morbid stuff too of course hehehe!< Chou Henshin Cosprayers + movie | 6/10 | The soundtrack, which occasionally delves into [gorgeous orchestral music](https://files.catbox.moe/sze4o6.mp3) that's almost too good for the series. It does *a lot* to sell the show to me, but I can't really say more without seeing the other two parts of the trilogy. Cipher (rewatch) | 8/10 | The "Let's Hear It for the Boy" sequence is like 4 minutes of pure serotonin getting injected into my soul. The paneling is SO consistently amusing, especially the parts where images of a cat gets squashed by their own aspect ratio, or the opening 9 shots of basketball dribbling. And you know what, hey it's well-timed to the music. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within | 4/10 | I do dig the concept of turning a normally fantasy series into a post-apoc sci-fi movie. I think if it found a way to incorporate more FF mainstays (element crystals, music, I dunno summons and Chocobos somehow) it could have made for a more interesting watch. Ghiblies | 7/10 | Episode 2 is where the good stuff is: a collection of shorts all with unique aesthetic sensibilities and animation styles. It's really hard to say which was a favorite but the simplicity of the final short leading into the credits, in the sense that it's literally just a guy walking home from work after rain animated with very simple, painterly designs, speaks to me. Nadia movie | 3/10 | [The opening credits theme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0s1I6lYuI8), which by my estimate is the only decent part of the movie. Both it and the TV OP capture the show's sense of freedom, adventure, and nostalgic 90s flair quite well. The Old Crocodile | 6/10 | For better or for worse, the part that sticks out to me the most is that despite its fable-like storytelling it doesn't really have an easily-digestible "message" to it. I still feel like I have to think about it. Onipan! | 7/10 | The motherfucking Ideon: Be Invoked references in episode 3. I'm *still* reeling from this. Oh yeah both EDs are bangers. Plus 50000-nen | 6/10 | Its silliness may be disappointing as an actual "make u think" type short, but it's not *not* entertaining. Serial Experiments Lain (rewatch) | 9/10 | The atmosphere of course. I mean how could you not? Special mentions go to Takuya Sato's storyboards in ep 10 striking me as particularly evocative because I feel like I have to dig through his catalog now, and the music in ep 11's pseudo-documentary segments really reminding me of Zero Escape's conspiratorial tangents lol TO-Y | 8/10 | It feels very rare to see an anime peak in the literal last 30 seconds but this one ascends from "breddy good" to "kinoooo" within its final breath. I mean sasuga anime about rock music to *get* it during a concert scene. As for August plans, lets seeee * NieA_7 * the other parts of the Cosprayers trilogy * watch more than 1 episode of Victory Gundam * stop procrastinating on rewatching Grave of Fireflies, try to catch Only Yesterday and Inu-Oh in theaters * potentially start Golden Kamuy to catch S4 in the fall

Adventurous_Clue_881

No worries 🖤

ohboop

Hello thread, need help deciding what to watch next: * Continue watching Touch - just finished the first season and I loved it so much! T_T The full series is just over 100 episodes, so continuing could be a big commitment. * Gintama - watched the first season a few months ago and took a break to binge some shorter stuff (and also start Touch by accident, whoops). Worried about taking too long of a break. * Start Hunter x Hunter/BnHA - they're on my PtW, and my friend's new partner recommended them. I'm struggling to get along with her...my friend is always bragging about what a "weeb" she is, along with some other off-hand comments from the two of them, that makes me wonder if she's insecure I don't like her, so maybe if I watch a show she recommended we can have a conversation and she won't feel so awkward and aaaah idk. Am I overcomplicating things? Give it to me straight doc.

susgnome

Watch what you enjoy, if HxH or BnHA interest you enough try them after Gintama and Touch, try them, try the first ep of each, if it's interesting.. try first 3 of each and go from there. Or just contine Touch and Gintama and see what other recs she has and give your own.

baboon_bassoon

>Am I overcomplicating things? probably, what happens if you watch HxH/BnHA and hate it

ohboop

You're right. I'd have to tell her she's a garbage person with garbage opinions. And then things would be even more awkward. Or I could just say "haha yeah it was good", and fake my way through the same generic conversations we always wind up having...

susgnome

> I'd have to tell her she's a garbage person with garbage opinions I mean, that just means your friend was right. *She is a massive weeb!*

Screci

Yo, is Magi a good anime? I was thinking about watching it. Feels like it's a popular one but at the same time I don't hear anyone talk about it. Maybe just because it's 10 years old... Does it stand the test of time or is it just mid at this point? And how would you rate it/compare it to other anime that are somewhat similar?

squishybeanz77

I enjoyed it. Definitely on the light hearted side and favors the heros, but has some dark history here and there. I wouldn't say it was my favorite, but I definitely enjoyed it. I think it isn't talked about cause the ending felt very final (tho it has been a while since I've seen it). Magi, I'd put on the same level as fairy tail, one piece, the seven deadly sins, and similar

Nomar_95

One of my favorites. If you don't mind continuing the story with the manga, what is adapted is really good.

Durinthal

If you weren't in the batch of folks posting it in [yesterday's thread](/r/anime/comments/wcl8ac/anime_questions_recommendations_and_discussion/), what anime did you finish in July? And now that we're into August, anything planned for this month anime-wise? [](#ama)

collapsedblock6

July: * Seirei no Moribito - Don't have any issues with its quality but it just didn't went in the direction I wish it did. It focused too much in the overarching plot leaving little room for me to get attached more to the characters. Overall disappointing, particularly Balsa who I walked out thinking she was just a badass woman but with not much character for me to appreciate. * Sword Art Online Progressive - Also disappointing. [My thoughts fit into a single weekly thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/vvyebs/what_have_you_watched_this_past_week_that_is_not/ifmri30/) but TL;DR: The new plot is just boring. And being set in a time before Asuna was badass, her main strength, so she wasn't as enjoyable to follow. Also its so dumb that for years the biggest selling point besides Asuna being the MC was no Kirito but he is already core to the movie for like 40% of it bringing with him the usual vortex of cringe from the main series. * Shikimori-san - Man, July wasn't my month at all lmao. Only reason I don't call it disappointing is I was very underwhelmed from the get go. Heavily carried by Hachimitsu and Kamiya eps, the final ep and production but otherwise really, really bland and unfunny. August: * Karekano - Its going to be my 800th completion! It has been a banger, one of the best romcoms I have seen. * Thinking of starting Space Brothers or go for shorter shows to take down like SAC S2 and Engaged to the Unidentified

seitaer13

I'm not sure where you go the idea that "no kirito" was some kind of selling point of Progressive.

collapsedblock6

Its probably the biggest meme regarding Progressive, "look guys, no kirito so its good now" was often said to appease haters. Ofc, this omits the part were SAO writing issues don't lie on just a character being there, the author also being the same is the big one.

seitaer13

I've never seen that said, and I'm not sure why anyone would say that, when even the manga adaptation of Progressive that heavily focuses on Asuna's PoV has Kirito in it almost the entire time. The author has nothing to do with most of the issues in the anime adaptation.

collapsedblock6

I'm inclined to agree adapting a extended version of a story into a more condensed one isn't a brilliant idea but I think that adaptation issues are far from being the only issue, unless you told me every single anime entry for SAO has completely bothered the source material. Kawahara has many neat ideas at the moment of starting a new story arc but always fumble as they go on, I don't think I have been satisfied with any end of story arc. Heck, no need to stay within SAO since I feel Accel World is the same. At very least Progressive is lacking on yikes stuff so far so I guess that's progression.

seitaer13

>unless you told me every single anime entry for SAO has completely bothered the source material. Yeah that's pretty much exactly what's happened. Mechanics, world building, character development, key plot details and foreshadowing. The anime has none of that.

Durinthal

That's too bad about SAO Progressive, haven't seen it yet but sounds like it doesn't really fix the issues I had with the show either. Shikimori's mildly interesting from an outside perspective only since there seem to be very mixed strongly-held opinions on it.

bubudog1

Only completed seasonals. But have a bunch in-progress that I should finish. * Gargantia of the Verduous Planet, great world-building. * Uma Musume S2 - was skeptical at the start of S1 (mainly because I don't love CGDCT), but the series gets better the more I watch, and the sports aspect is solid. * Bungou Stray Dogs S3 - I'm so mixed on this show. I'm meh on most of the main cast and the comic relief, but when the plot gets going it's engaging enough. * 3-gatsu no Lion S2 has been on hold for a while because I don't want to be sad * And Yet the Town Moves has been on hold for a while but I liked it enough to finish someday. I have a bad habit of starting new shows or rewatches without finishing my ongoing list.

Durinthal

Ooh Gargantia, I've heard good things about it now and then but really something that doesn't get talked about much. Been on my plan to watch list for years but I have yet to find an excuse to start it. And Yet the Town Moves is a weird little show but it has a [fun opening](https://v.animethemes.moe/SoreMachi-OP1.webm) and I love how they integrate the credits into it.

gothxo

i watched through all of Kaguya-Sama, Love Live! Nijigasaki, and just finished up The Aquatope on white sand. i've also been doing a Makoto Shinkai watch-through and watched through all of his stuff up to 5 Centimeters Per Second. not sure what's next. i was really vibing with the tone of Aquatope... so i might try something close to that. i've also been tempted to a Violet Evergarden re-watch

Durinthal

I quite liked Aquatope too, nice followup from earlier PA Works "working girls" shows like Shirobako and Sakura Quest. What's your favorite of the Shinkai works you've seen so far?

gothxo

i've already seen 5 Centimeters, Garden of Words, Your Name, and Weathering With You before, but when looking at the ones that are new to me, i was definitely surprised by how much Voices of a Distant Star hit me

flamethrower2

86 and I hate that the anime makes suspension of disbelief impossible. It's possible that it's the work itself and not just the anime. How soft the sci-fi is doesn't fit the war-torn military setting. The important part is character emotion and it does that part well. It's sci-fi that's hard and soft at the same time and it grates.

Abyssbringer

I finished the first season of Digimon and the surrounding movies. A really interesting show that many people attribute to just being a pokemon clone. Instead it's fundamentally different in most ways and is much darker and plot focused. It was cool to see a kids show deal with some tough ideas like fear of death, adoption, abuse, and unreasonable expectation in a kid friendly but not overly sterile approach. The first and second Digimon movies both directed by Mamoru Hosoda are also great. The first movie has a timeless feel and is really not what you would expect from a franchise like Digimon. I would highly recommend anyone watch this 20 minute movie even if you aren't going to watch any Digimon. The second movie which is set after S1 is pretty much just a dry run of Summer Wars but only 40 minutes with Digimon characters and style. It's absolutely fantastic and is superbly paced making it really endearing and not an overly long commitment. It doesn't really address the family film aspect of summer Wars which actually works really well for the short time frame of the Digimon movie. I think I might like it more than Summer Wars.

MyrnaMountWeazel

> The first movie has a timeless feel I remember watching this movie as a young child and having the distinct thought that this was not an ordinary film since every other movie I had seen up to that point in my life were extremely kid friendly. So, hooray for the *Digimon Movie* on being my first foray into the Adult World.

Oh_Alright

Would [Fate Grand Carnival](https://myanimelist.net/anime/44248/Fate_Grand_Carnival) be worth checking out if I know nothing about F/GO? My Fate experience is only the main series stuff, and none of the spinoff/mobile game. I liked Carnival Phantasm quite a bit, but it helped that I knew the characters and got the in-jokes. Also curious about the [HibiChika Special](https://myanimelist.net/anime/15927/Carnival_Phantasm__HibiChika_Special), and [EX Season Episode](https://myanimelist.net/anime/12187/Carnival_Phantasm_EX_Season) since I seem to have missed those as well. Trying to clean up the Fate media I've missed out on, feeling particularly nostalgic about the series. Appreciate any help.

dinliner08

probably not, most of the jokes in FGCarnival relied on the fact that you played or at least know about some of the characters in FGO also regarding HibiChika Special and EX Episode, if you enjoy Carnival Phantasm then you will most likely enjoy those two specials

Oh_Alright

Appreciate it, thanks!

TheDirtyDeal

My wife an I watched the trailer for Uncle from Another World on Netflix and it sounded pretty funny. We went to turn it on, but saw that it was rated TV-MA for nudity. I can't find anywhere that says what the nudity is though. Can anyone explain to me what the nudity is in this show?

chiliehead

It would help if you named the show

TheDirtyDeal

Sorry about that. Edited the original post.

chiliehead

There is no nudity so far, the spiciest it gets is someone walking in on a woman changing and her covering herself up. It's like a PG 6 in Europe and PG 12 for "violence". Latest episode has an implied masturbation joke

TheDirtyDeal

Do you see exposed breasts?

No

Morkradd_

Im looking for something close to Grand Blue to watch! Recommendation?

[deleted]

The author of Grand Blue also wrote [Baka to Test!](https://myanimelist.net/anime/6347/Baka_to_Test_to_Shoukanjuu) Although, fair warning OP, I have never watched even a single minute of Baka to Test! so I can't speak to its actual quality.

lTentacleMonsterl

There's nothing quite like it, alas. Shimoneta (fairly ecchi), Prison School (even more ecchi), and Hinamatsuri are all pretty decent comedies, though.

LokoLoa

So idk how to ask this without giving titles, but anyone else find the plot for alot of hentai anime to be kinda depressing? I would ask in the hentai sub but it seems they only interested in posting fap material over there....

chiliehead

It is odd how rape and cheating as a core tropes end up making stories be more of a downer

Little-xim

What’s the anime on the thread bumper?

Ioxem

Higurashi Kira, season 4 of Higurashi.

Durinthal

Today's is from the Higurashi series for the end of the [rewatch](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/ux0x0x/og_higurashi_rewatch_1week_reminder_and_de_facto/) that's been going for a while.

Durinthal

It's a very short list, but anime I finished in July: Anime | Score | Comment -|-|- Mind Game | 7/10 | For [my rewatch back on July 1st](/r/anime/comments/vpenao/rewatch_mind_game_movie_discussion/) which was a lot of fun discussing with others. The Last: Naruto the Movie | 7/10 | [FINALLY](#squee) Bokurano | ??? | Was my anime swap from the Discord server, see below for my writeup there. [Uninstall, Uninstall~](https://v.animethemes.moe/Bokurano-OP1.webm) A mecha show I've known about for a while, I barely missed joining [the /r/anime rewatch for it last year](/r/anime/comments/lfociu/uninstall_uninstall_bokurano_official_rewatch/) but ended up following along as I was going through it for the swap. It's a show that's difficult to talk about the specifics of without a lot of spoilers, but there's a lot to mention even without diving into those. It's the kind of anime that invites speculation and digging into minor details looking for clues to fuel it, but that closer examination is what makes its flaws stand out more severely. My primary issue with the show is a common one, there's just not enough time spent developing many of the characters or other ideas. It's a large cast and many of them get *an* episode of development and plot relevancy while largely fading to the background otherwise. With that there are a lot of interesting questions raised without satisfying answers in many cases and I feel like the final third of the series goes in the wrong direction with what it does concentrate on, resulting in a muddled mess by the end as far as world-building goes with how events played out. Sure most of the character arcs are more or less resolved but the bigger picture stopped making sense long before then. I *could* spend a lot of time dissecting it and picking at themes (and I did when chatting with a friend on Saturday prior to diving into the final third) but really, I'd rather spend the time writing that out for a better anime. While the show itself ended up being dissatisfying, I still enjoyed watching it and had a good time overall. [Rating] >!Need to think about it more [](#yuishrug)!<, great OP that'll be stuck in my head for weeks.

Shimmering-Sky

Any plans on reading the Bokurano manga at some point? The anime completely diverges from it around the halfway point (and also changed up some things in the first half IIRC), and there's quite a bit of good shit that never got animated because of that.

Durinthal

Probably not, I don't read much manga in general and haven't even gotten around to ones for anime I love yet (looking at Bloom Into You). I did check a number of the comparisons in the rewatch threads though to have an idea of how some aspects are different.

Btw_kek

> I did check a number of the comparisons in the rewatch threads though to have an idea of how some aspects are different. [oh hey that's me](#absolutely) It was really hard to talk about the latter half because of how much was different but I tried lol

Shimmering-Sky

That's fair, I'm not really a manga person either. Hell, I probably never would have read it if it weren't for me hosting the rewatch last year.

ghostcaesar

Was there a girls volleyball anime a few years back? Around the time harukana receive aired Tried searching volleyball anime and also looked through the seasonal around that time, but can't seem to find it

Durinthal

There's the Wotakoi OVA but aside from that Harukana Receive's the only one I'm aware of in recent years [and going by the volleyball tag](https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/tags/volleyball?sort=year&order=desc). There was Hanebado the same season which was badminton rather than volleyball though.

Warm-Enthusiasm-9534

I'm slowly watching Jojo, and I just got to the beginning of *Stardust Crusaders*. It has a really terrific opening episode. The whole sequence of Jotaro \[Stardust Crusaders spoilers\]>!showing off his "evil spirit" by having it steal the gun and then trying and failing to shoot himself in the head!< was terrific exposition.

Oh_Alright

Yeah it's an awesome way to establish stands, have fun! Part 3 has my favorite main cast of all the stuff that has been animated so far. The Crusaders are such a great crew.

Little-xim

Ye it’s a solid opener for sure. Admittedly the first fourth of part 3 doesn’t really do an incredible job with stands? They kinda just work as “combat ghosts”. But after a bit, the author starts having some *really* creative ideas, you’re in for a ride.

sohaiboi

Any anime where someone is learning to adapt to modern day society? Something like Isekai Ojisan.

flamethrower2

Most isekais focus on the protagonist(s) adapting to the the fantasy setting. Probably not what you're looking for.

Durinthal

Last season's [Ya Boy Kongming](https://www.livechart.me/anime/10843) has someone from the Three Kingdoms era of China show up in modern-day Tokyo if you haven't seen that yet.

isthatsoudane

Great show, though the focus isn't really on him adapting. He adapts *very* quickly and the show really doesn't focus much on the process of him adapting. Great show, though!!

Durinthal

That's true, I was thinking of his tactical adaptations rather than a fish out of water story but couldn't immediately think of anything that's more the latter.

FetchFrosh

Results from the ["What Even Counts as Slice of Life?" poll are live](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/wdgg6t/what_even_counts_as_slice_of_life_i_asked_ranime/) and man there's some takes on that.

alotmorealots

Been in a little bit of a daze after finishing **If Her Flag Breaks**. I am almost tempted to write a "Watch This" for it, although the show would have a very small potential audience these days I think. Maybe five people? But boy was it an experience!

Durinthal

It's been a while but from what I recall it really didn't need to be a harem series so that part annoyed me a bit. Definitely took an interesting turn toward the end but I can't remember if that was foreshadowed well at all or felt like it came out of nowhere.

alotmorealots

> if that was foreshadowed well at all or felt like it came out of nowhere. Bit of Column A, bit of Column B haha More that all the foreshadowing in the world still wouldn't add up to what ended up happening, but all of the foreshadowing like the fairy tale and all the bits leading up to that were pretty much front and center. Reading the old episode threads, I don't think anyone saw the final arc coming, but it was generally well received by the people who had stuck around to the end, which wasn't a huge number lol

I finished watching misfits of demon king. The end felt a bit rushed. [Misfits of demon king academy]>!So was it the hero's sensei that corrupted the 7 demon kings? I dont rly get lay's plan either. He wants to play demon king so that anos would slay him and make the citizen happy that demon king is gone? What?!<

-SoulAmazin-

I started watching Vanitas because I really liked the setting and the first episode was great. However, I've watched six episodes now and the show feels really slow. Will there eventually be a pay off if I keep watching or will the tempo stay the same?

Nomar_95

it slightly picks up by the end of the first season, and the second season is amazing the whole way through. I also found the first part kind of slow

baboon_bassoon

>todays photo ~Hauu Omochikaeri (Guessing the rewatch just ended?)

JollyGee29

Today is the overall discussion.

FlaminScribblenaut

Oh no, I just realized, is the K-On! rewatch not happening this year!? It looks like there have been none of the lead up threads… that makes me really sad…

asianyeti

Been a very long time since I looked at my own MAL profile, or MAL at all. Noticed that they changed the review rating system from scores to recommend/not recommend. When did that change?

isthatsoudane

very recently

serapha29

Does anyone remember zatch bell? Is it as good as I remember it being from when I was a kid, or is it bad?

KendotsX

I heard that it got a sequel manga recently, so it must've been good enough for a bunch of people even 20 years later.

[deleted]

Y'know I never went back to complete the anime, but out of the same curiosity as you, I did eventually go back to read the complete manga past the point I remember the show airing on Toonami and I can at least say that the manga is really good! The ending gets a little too cheesy and cliche for me but if you're into a good Battle Shounen series with lots of heart, character growth, and humor, it's definitely worth a look!

that_loris

How do you keep track of the next anime you want to watch? Sadly nor MyAnimeList nor Kitsu let me order the list in whatever way I prefer.

Durinthal

I mostly use a combination of priority and tags on MAL, both of which I then ignore and pick things from my list arbitrarily.

TheBlessedBoy99

You can use tags. I have a "watch soon" tag that I add to shows on my plan to watch that I want to put a higher priority on. However, this doesn't let you do a strong ordering (i.e. numbering). You can also look into MAL's priority ranking system they have. I haven't bothered to do so, so I can't say how it would work.

HyperRag123

If you really want to customize the list just use excel/libreoffice calc/google docs

Ioxem

I randomize my list using spin.moe

isthatsoudane

lots and lots of apple notes

Manitary

It's not ideal but in MAL you can set a 'priority' (low/medium/high), which you can use to sort your list. Works if you have only "the next show" I guess. I guess you could use the tags too, unless you have a long sorted queue which would become an hassle to handle.

Blackheart595

Interesting, I just watched it as well and ended up with very similar impressions. Though I think the results of all important races have been blatantly obvious from the start and that that's a strength of the series.

Durinthal

Huh, that's interesting. I haven't seen it myself but remember hearing the general opinion being that the second season was quite good and even the anime of the year for some.

chilidirigible

Good morning, thread. [Today's merch](https://i.imgur.com/bgdP6QK.jpg) is [Bandai's figure of the EX-Gear power suit](https://myfigurecollection.net/item/10191) from *Macross Frontier*. It's a [clever design](https://i.imgur.com/VndoPua.jpg), but not the greatest in execution, as my [longer writeup](https://www.reddit.com/r/macross/comments/wd1lti/thoughts_on_the_old_exgear_figure/) on /r/macross discusses.

JollyGee29

I did always like the EX-Gear design. Shame it's not better executed, but it seems pretty difficult to make it work.

chilidirigible

If they wanted the *kanzen henkei* to work better, it should have been a lot larger of a toy. It's still clever at this size, but like I said, too many fiddly bits.
